Chapter 89: Only A Month

Chapter Eighty-Nine – Only a month

Frida was back? Valkyrie leaned on the wall, awaiting her descent from the wall. She watched the Beta’s daughter catwalk on the wall, without caring she’d be spotted.

"Always so reckless, you’d be causing trouble for us if you are not careful." Valkyrie said as the lady descended.

"Causing trouble for you maids? Ah, I wouldn’t want that." Frida mocked, walking into the maid quarters. She chose a time when she knew the guards were on break.

Also, the guards had been less alert around the quarters since the Princess left. She was their catalyst. The future of the pack they conquered that they had to put an eye on.

The maids in the quarters huddled together, like sheep that had spotted a wolf. They stared at Frida like she was a foreigner.

"What? It hasn’t been up to a month I left and you all forgot who I am?" She sounded slightly offended.

"Maybe we don’t care much."

"Who said that?" Frida retorted but the maids kept quiet.

Valkyrie stood in front of them. "Just tell us what you want. You’re back for a reason, we know you don’t plan to stay."

Frida rolled her eyes, moving close to a schedule pasted on the wall. "You all were the ones who created this schedule, right? Who’s feeding Jade today?"

The maids look at each other. What did she have to do with Jade? They subconsciously agreed to rebel.

After all, Jade was a job the princess assigned to them before they left. She was also a plaything as they could make her eat anything they made and watch her being humiliated. They weren’t willing to pass out on all that.

"The person in charge can handle it, Lady Frida." One of them said. "The guards would suspect if someone else—"

They shivered under her stare. Frida’s eyes shifted to a shimmering yellow that spoke of impending turmoil if they kept being stubborn.

Still they tied their lips shut making Valkyrie sigh. It was better to cooperate with the Beta’s daughter so she’d get out already. "Okay, who’s in charge for today?"

Lisa ran out of the group of maids and bowed. "I’m the one in charge for today, Valkyrie."

Frida gestured, "Strip off your clothes and bring them to me. Then prepare whatever you’d be giving her so I’d be let inside by the guards. Am I clear?"

The maids grumbled amongst themselves but Lisa nodded obediently. The princess wasn’t here and Valkyrie was a warrior who shouldn’t defy a Beta’s daughter.

All they had to do was give in to her demands till she got the hell out of their quarters. "I’d bring new clothes to you. As well as Jade’s last meal for today, Lady Frida."

That was fine by her. Frida flung her hair behind her then tied it in a bun to look more simple. "I’d be in my room..."

The maids blocked the way. "That’s the Princess’ room. And she’s not around so we couldn’t open it for anyone."

"What?" Frida balled her fists. These maids were starting to get on her nerves. "That’s also my room, little bitches. Do you think the Princess you’re protecting can do anything for you..."

"A month is enough for a lot to change." Someone said.

Frida turned to the entrance. That young lady, wasn’t she the Jessika that Darren spoke about often?

Jessika walked inside. "The Princess definitely changed a lot after you left, you’d be surprised. Who do you think kept Jade in the prison?"

Frida frowned. She never cared about that. She turned to the maids and they had amused expressions as they thought about the prank the Princess did for them.

"Laurel became more than a scum. A miracle."

Immediately Frida said that, she noticed the aura within the girls around her changed, like they were about to pounce on her. It made Frida all the more excited.

So that Laurel had grown a backbone and wider fan base while she wasn’t around? "Valkyrie, I’d stay in your room. You, hurry with those clothes. I don’t have all day."

Lisa nodded and hurried out. Frida left to Valkyrie’s room.

Jessika dispersed the maids to continue their duties so they won’t look suspicious just standing around.

Few minutes later, Frida was dressed like a maid hurrying to the prison halls. She smirked on seeing no guard there. They were probably not back from their break.

Jade sat on the wet floor drawing small tree figures with her index finger on the moss floor. It was all she could do to pass time.

She missed the trees and plants outside. Life in prison was more hopeless than she thought. She looked ahead when she heard the prison hall’s entrance open.

It’s probably the maids bringing her food. Oddly, she looked forward to meeting them, they were the only living people she could interact with. Apart from the rats.

"Hmm, Jade huh?"

Jade frowned, sensing this maid wasn’t like the rest. Her fears were confirmed when there was a kick to her prison door and it broke opened immediately.

Jade left the floor, looking at the door like it betrayed her. How could it give way like that? Then she saw the joints and locks looking melted. The ’maid’ had melted it?

"The name’s Frida."

Jade looked up at her, she saw her put a bottled liquid inside her dress. It should be what she used to melt the door’s joints. "What do you want, Frida—"

Frida cut off her speech by quickly hitting her throat. Jade gagged, backing away.

She got her balance and stood in a defensive position but she found herself falling when a strong force brushed her legs, she fell. The bitch fought dirty, Jade realized.

Frida pinned Jade down with her leg, she stared down at her with a grin. The werewolfess was surely Beta ranked and since Frida wasn’t, she planned to cut her slowly.

Jade forced herself from the ground and made space between she and Frida. She’d hit the enemy harder and run off as it seemed nobody would come for her in here.

"Who are you though? You’re not amongst the maids." Jade tried having small talk to buy time to get back her stamina. Her sudden fall had hurt a lot.

As response, Frida attacked. Jade first thought she was trying to punch but then claws dug on her skin when she blocked. This bitch really fought dirty.

Without waiting for her to back away, Frida grabbed Jade’s head and bent it to her knees, multiple times, consecutively and quickly before she’d recover.

She knew the wolfess wouldn’t be agile as regular Beta Ranks since she must have been in prison for a while.

Jade was thrown to the wall of the prison, she slid to the ground passed out, her mouth open.

Frida wiped the blood on her claws on the dress Lisa gave her, she smiled. "Now we have our trading piece."

It was time for the warriors to exert all their anger and revenge on the Lycans. It’d be such a show.
