Chapter Eighty-Seven – Interesting
Nero who watched them, shook his head tiredly. Was the princess threatening the King? She had no idea.
The King smiled again, genuinely humored by Laurel’s threat. He advanced towards her, reaching for her hair. "Is that so, Princess?" She was an interesting lady.
Laurel wanted to slap his hands off but she stayed calm.
"The daughter of the Alpha King thinks she can threaten a Lycan King?" Asher chuckled.
Laurel placed her hand on her chest. "I’m not thinking... I’m trying. I need to protect my kind." She closed her eyes. "From you."
Now that was a bolder claim and resolve. Asher twirled her hair in his hands and smiled when he saw her growing annoyed at his action. "But you can’t protect all of them?"
"Obviously, but I’d protect the ones I find." Laurel held unto the girl. "I’m sure as a someone in power who has people to protect, you understand my feelings."
Asher dropped her hair, sighing. "Honestly, I do but I don’t care too much." He backed away towards a box.
Laurel held the girl closely as the box opened to reveal some weird equipment. Was the King going on with his experiments, even if front of the girl?
So far, the negotiating skills Jessika taught her hadn’t been working. Was it time to use force? Could she use force? Laurel looked around to determine her chances.
Asher took out an injection and prepared it, he turned to the princess and noticed the protective stance she was in.
"Hmm, no worries. I need the girl’s blood. Let me have it, and I’d really let you go." He closed his box. "Now I think of it, I’d be busy as King so I can’t work much. There’s no need having specimens when I can’t use them."
He spoke too much like his specimens weren’t living and breathing people. Laurel narrowed her eyes at him. If it was only her blood he needed, could that be so bad?
The werewolfess stretched her hand out before Laurel could decide. "I-It’s... o-okay with me." As long as they’d be released afterwards.
Laurel turned to the King to tell him he could, but then her eyes widened when he was already in front of them and the injection was already taking the girl’s blood.
The princess gritted her teeth. She must have forgotten she was dealing with Lycans, their speed, agility, strength couldn’t be compared to hers.
She was still in a measly Lead Warrior rank. Even if the King knew she was werewolf, he wouldn’t be able to know her rank because of the charm.
And after she boasted about being an Alpha King’s daughter and him not knowing what she was capable of, he might think she was at least, Beta or Alpha ranked.
The King walked away after taking an injection full of the girl’s blood. Laurel held her when she staggered a bit. "We are finally done, here.... right?"
Asher carefully placed the injection in his box and closed it, he turned to the Princess, smiling. "What’s your name?"
What was that about? Laurel felt Elma coming to the surface. "I dong sense the murderous intent from him that he had been working since you came here. Maybe he’s cam now?"
Still Laurel didn’t want to lose her guard. "Princess Laurel, so Laurel. But honestly, we are not on first name basis—"
"Of course we are not." Asher dragged the box from the table. "if I ever catch you as my victim, I’d like to call your name sweetly while working. It’d feel better right?"
That sounded sort of lewd but Laurel knew he was only sickly twisted. "I hope you’d prioritize your people’s peace over your revenge. If my father had done that, his kingdom wouldn’t have fallen."
A sigh left Asher. "You should become my personal advisor at this point." He smirked. "Not that I’d listen."
"Let them go." He told Nero.
But Nero hesitated, was it really safe to let the princess, who knew so much, to go scot free? But then he knew killing her was also dangerous.
He looked up at her and their eyes met. "You heard your King, walk us back to our table like you walked us in here." Laurel ordered.
Nero clicked his tongue, opening the door. "Kindly walk yourself back. I’m quite busy myself."
The Princess rolled her eyes before hurrying back to their table. She noticed Stefan looking at her direction. Did she worry him? Probably not. If yes, then good.
The moment she sat down, she felt her legs weaken. Being the receiver of all the murderous aura the King has been emitting was taking a toll on her now she’s safe.
"Oh, the girl is with you." Sorren looked stunned.
Laurel returned the charm to the girl so none of the guests would notice her. "Hmm, I refused giving her to the King so he only took her blood."
That sounded so weird. "You refused giving her..." Stefan trailed off. So the girl was actually one of Asher’s victims? And his mate refuse giving a Lycan Alpha King his victim?
The werewolfess suddenly smiled. "P-Princess was... was so cool. She told bad King ’you don’t know what I’m capable of’ and then bad King said ’be my advisor’." She chuckled. "And then bad King played with her hair and then..." she chocked on the snacks she was eating.
Laurel patted her back while glancing at Sorren and Stefan who had horrified looks. What the girl said was true but it certainly didn’t happen like that.
The part that surprised Stefan was Asher playing with her hair. He didn’t think the King would be flirtatious.
The part that stunned Sorren was Asher almost asking Laurel to be his advisor. That would have brought the fall of the mighty High Moon Kingdom.
"Bottom line is, Asher thinks I’m a princess under your pack. He left the girl to me to avoid having conflicts with you." Laurel summarized, a smirk playing on her lips.
"In other words, I have to make you a princess of my pack to confirm what Asher thinks?" Stefan raised a brow.
Sorren chuckled softly. "I knew you were interesting but I didn’t think you were mischievous as well."
"Well, you will always surpass me in that area." Laurel told Sorren. "And yes, I mean, you took over my pack, you didn’t destroy and rebuild it. It only makes sense."
If he only took over, it was the same as a change in government. The original owners weren’t totally killed so she has all the rights to remain the Princess.
