Chapter 86: Annoying Bitch

Chapter Eighty-Six – Annoying Bitch

"I want her as a maid. How much can I buy her from you?" Asher asked, raising the werewolfess’ hand. He was only going through the length because of Alpha Stefan.

His usual move would have been to kill the lady, she was a werewolf after all, then take his specimen away. But the lady was a werewolf princess, he couldn’t act as he liked.

The smile Laurel had tried keeping on her face fell. "King Asher, haven’t you heard? People aren’t for sale."

The King sighed, dropping the werewolfess hand. "So what should I do to have the girl?"

"That depends if the girl wants to have you." Laurel said with a straight face. "I’m sure you now understand why I’m protecting her. We werewolves try to stick together."

Like rats. Asher thought. But he’d still catch and kill them.

"Do you want to be with the King? You never spoke of any connections with him?" Laurel asked the girl. The werewolfess shook her head vehemently.

Laurel looked back at the King. "And there’s her reply. Don’t you think we are done here—" she gasped as a hand rushed to her throat.

There was a horrid look on Asher’s face, he stared darkly at her. "We are not done until I say we are."

It was expected too but Laurel didn’t expect it so soon. The look on the King’s face heavily contrasted with the adorable one he usually wore. It made Laurel smirk.

Seeing a smirk on the princess’s face annoyed Asher more, he quickly left her to avoid giving in to his urges. "You are a really annoying bitch."

"I’d take it as a compliment again, your highness." Laurel rubbed her neck before clearing her throat.

The werewolfess rushed and hugged her, feeling bad that she was going through all that for her sake. Laurel patted her, while keeping her eyes on King Asher.

Nero’s heartbeat was getting faster over every word that left the two. He clenched his beating heart that went crazy after Asher’s hand went to the lady’s neck.

If he killed a princess under Alpha Stefan’s hold, it’d really cause problems between the packs. And that’d be so bad for his first day as King.

"I’m taking the girl." Asher said.

Laurel forced a smile. "That’s kidnap, your highness."

The King’s claws stretched from their place, his eyes went to Nero who gave him a pleading look. He looked back at the girl. "She isn’t from your pack, why should you care?"

"Oh, King. If you find a Lycan in a dangerous werewolf kingdom, beaten and bleeding and wanting to run away. Wouldn’t you care?"

Asher chuckled softly. The look on the Princess’s face said it all. She knew exactly what she was protecting the girl from. "Wasn’t that the fate of many lycans before?"

"Emphasis on before, your highness." Laurel replied. Was the King trying to bring up the dark ages. "This girl, and I were barely even in existence when it happened—"

"I was. And I know the dreadful things you werewolves did to lycans!" Asher raised his voice.

Nero was panicking again. If the princess pressed the buttons close to his trauma, she’d be really close to losing her life, and Asher wouldn’t regret it.

"It was indeed dreadful." Laurel agreed. "But it was war. On lycans and on werewolves. A War that should never happen again. My mother was killed by a Lycan too!"

Asher was about to interrupt her before her last words. Her mother was killed by a lycan? Too? Then she knew how his mother died?

He looked away. "Would you compare the queen of lycans to a common werewolfess—" he paused.

"That’s right." Laurel smiled painfully. "My mother wasn’t a common werewolfess. She was a Luna Queen. Killed by a Lycan and had to abandon her child."

That was hitting too close to home. Asher turned away.

"I understand the rage it comes with. Even my father had taken out his anger on a Lycan Kingdom. Alpha Stefan’s. And no, Alpha Stefan took it on mine. It never ended."

So that was the story behind it? Asher looked for the words to counter with. He wouldn’t have thought this Princess would have a similar experience to him.

If anything Asher sort of appreciated her father for taking revenge for his Luna, his own father didn’t do anything.

"And that’s why I’d do something." Asher muttered. He turned to the princess. "Yes, it never ends and I’m not interested in being the one to end it."

Laurel’s fists clenched. So even after sympathizing with him, he still wanted to do as he liked?

"For a King who should set example, you’re impulsive. It’s very immature of you." She seethed.

Nero frowned, rushing to her but Asher raised his hand to stop him. He grinned broadly. "I’d take it as a compliment, Princess."

He tried to take the werewolfess’ hand but Laurel pulled the girl back. She glanced at Nero who was at the door and back at the King. "What exactly do you need her for?"

"The King isn’t obligated to answer your questions—"

"Then he can’t have her because as it stands now, I’m her protector!" Laurel barked at Nero. She turned to Asher. "For your great revenge, why not use Lycans who’d be more than happy to sacrifice for their King?"

Couldn’t he use animals too? Or corpses? Must it be living werewolves?! Laurel bit her lower lips nervously.

"No, I’m a King after all. I can’t put my kind in such pain. My experiments leave bodies behind." Asher smiled cutely.

It made Laurel scoff. "Then, if I tell everyone what you’re doing?" she stood straight. "Both werewolves, lycans, lycan hunters."

A line flashed on Asher’s face, then more on his forehead. He grinned psychotically. "I dare you. Mention a lycan hunter in front of me again."

Laurel didn’t flinch. She knew Lycan Hunters were very sensitive topics to Lycans but if that will be all the King will fear, then it’s fine by her. "You won’t kill me."

The guts of this princess?! Asher closed his eyes briefly, then opened them. "All you have to do is dare me—"

"You won’t still kill me." Laurel interrupted. "It’ll displease Alpha Stefan, your people, who you care about, right? Also, you have no idea what I’m capable of."

That was an empty threat, a very empty threat. But Laurel felt it was better than nothing. Her cards were failing her.

Nero who watched them, shook his head tiredly. Was the princess threatening the King? She had no idea.
