Chapter 82: Their Talk

Chapter Eighty-Two – Their Talk

Asher stayed quiet before sighing. Just when he realized it was Sorren, his mind link was nudged on and Nero told him a suspicious man was spotted, he should be careful.

The prince glanced at the young man by his side. His lower part didn’t look feminine unlike his upper part.

The young man didn’t even seem interested in him at all, despite him being the Lycan Prince. "You didn’t confirm, are you the Sorren?"

"You didn’t confirm either. Are you the Prince Asher?"

Asher smirked. He must be the Sorren. The only Lycan he had seen yet that didn’t speak to him like he was their Prince. "Who else would dare wear a crown here?"

"I nearly did." Sorren deadpanned.

Asher frowned. What look exactly was he going for after looking so feminine? "And your Sigma didn’t tell you what I looked like?"

"You think he’s interested in people?" Sorren didn’t look at him. "I’m not either. Do you need something?"

Asher narrowed his eyes at him. He wasn’t fond of those who didn’t suck up to him, but that was the fun in breaking them. "You look different from what I thought, really."

It made Sorren chuckle. "I guess that’s a compliment."

Asher shrugged. It sort of was. Ironically, it had added another layer to his interest in Sorren. "You travelled far without Sigma. Or did you bring him along?"

Sorren turned to him. Sigma? He looked around but then realized Sigma wasn’t close. "He’s asleep now." He looked down. "Or Cade is overworking him since I’m not there."

Asher raised a brow. "Cade?"

"On second thoughts..." Sorren sighed. "Sigma might be tending to my plants and have little time to be bossed around by Cade."

The Prince was totally lost. Was this Sorren soliloquizing in front of him? It reminded him of how Sigma filtered what he said and only replied to the one he found interesting.

They might think the world revolved around them. Or maybe they were deranged after all. Asher sighed. What should be expect from Lycans who stayed too long with werewolves? "You must be bored."

Sorren glanced at him, then smirked. "Don’t worry. I try to avoid that so I brought something along to keep me busy."

Something? Or someone? Not that it mattered to Asher. As long as that thing could quell his boredom, that’s all that mattered.

However, Asher didn’t enjoy the conversation. Partly because Sorren’s full attention was on the moon for some reasons and his back was turned against him.

He wanted to ask about the werewolves but Sorren didn’t look interested in anything but the moon.

Another reason would be, it was uncomfortable talking with someone who looked like him. Conflicting was the right word.

"Does Stefan look like you? Like that?"

What should that question mean? Sorren couldn’t help but notice the distaste in his voice. He glared at the Prince who glared back. "How about you find out yourself?"

On what occasion should he address him as ’like that?’. Sorren felt his wolf coming to the surface but he exhaled, calming himself. The Prince wasn’t worth the effort.

Asher hummed, slightly pleased that his words finally had an effect on the stoic faced man. "And where is he?"

"Find that out too." Sorren replied calmly.

Asher caught Slime’s scent. He was coming towards their direction. The Prince left Sorren immediately.

He already angered the young man. If he saw Slime who caused his brother injuries, it could further aggravate him. Slime was still recovering.

"Prince Asher!" Slime hastened his steps but was pulled back by the Prince.

"Don’t go that way." Asher clicked his tongue. "He’s an interesting fellow but hard to speak too. I didn’t think they’d be people I’d find hard to talk to."

Slime studied his Prince. Was he speaking of the new Alpha? "Oh, you mean Sorren. Nero told me you found him. Lucky. I haven’t found the pretty girl yet."

Asher paused. Pretty girl? There weren’t any other guests that had any pretty girl for Slime to sort for.

Unless... the Prince smirked. "Slime, I change my mind. You should go and tell Sorren that I’m inviting him for tea later. He might reject the invitation but let him know."

He might reject his invitation? Slime frowned. "Your Highness, why would you think he’d reject your invitation? How dare he reject your invitation?"

Asher said nothing that gesturing for Slime to hurry. But seconds later, Slime returned. "No one’s there. He must have gone immediately you left."

Asher’s smile fell. Why did that make him feel like Sorren was the one enduring the conversation? Like the young man also thought he was difficult to talk to?

"Ah, he’d be so fun to break."

Slime turned to the Prince. Unlike when he spoke of breaking people, he sounded like breaking this Sorren would be hard. He must really be a difficult fellow.

Meanwhile, Sorren returned to the table and found it empty. Stefan wasn’t back? And Laurel left to where?

He looked around the crowd and noticed relishing dishes sprayed on the table. He’d have the appetite if he hadn’t met that self-centered Prince.

He sat down, hoping the others would return on their own accord. His eyes went to the closest door and he found Laurel, stooped towards a pillar.

What was she doing? He was the closest one to the door so he only he could see her. No one would notice her.

But then he perceived the repulsive scent of a rogue. And not any rogue, a werewolf rogue. He jumped from his seat and hurried to Laurel.

Laurel immediately covered the girl on hearing footsteps. Her hands dropped when she saw it was only Sorren. Still she left the girl behind her. "I found her here. Hiding."

Sorren’s eyes lingered on the werewolfess. She bled in different places. She must’ve been naked, if not for Laurel using the shawl he gave her to cover her upper body.

"A beaten-up werewolf? Do you know what it means?"

What did his question mean? Laurel pinched her brows together. All it meant to her was that the girl needed to be protected!
