Her Vengeful Lycan Alpha -
Chapter 65: Visit
Chapter 65: Visit
Chapter Sixty-Five – Visit
(Silent River Pack)
Two official visitors from Black Claws Pack, in one day.
Darren made sure all the training equipment were hidden.
They belonged to surviving warriors of Green Valleys who wanted to attack when they see a chance. He didn’t advise them to, but he couldn’t quench their thirst for revenge.
And recently, they got information that another Lycan had treated the guards as toy, killing more than ten of them. It made the remaining warriors boil more and it took a lot of mental fortitude to keep them together.
Now, the Lycan Alpha of the pack was coming. It would have been a good time to ambush him, but Darren was sure the Alpha would’ve thought of that and had countermeasures.
"Ella!" he called out when her toys were still scattered about the hall where he’d be receiving visitors soon.
The girl wasn’t close so he took the stress of picking the toys himself. His mind link was nudged on. "Prince Darren, they’re walking in." It was the old man.
Despite not being from his pack, Darren had been able to share his mind link with the man and his daughter over formed bond of an Alpha and his pack members.
Darren turned to the door, and watched the tall man and younger man walk in. "Very well, thank you." He replied the old man then cut the link.
He forced a smile, looking at the childish toys in his hands as they came closer. "Nice to meet you. Definitely wasn’t expecting you this soon since you wrote of your visit."
"It’s just a short walk so I didn’t think I should delay any longer." Stefan replied, he noticed Sigma checking the place out, quite obviously. "This is my Delta, Sigma."
Sigma concentrated on the conversation on hearing his name. Darren nodded, "You have many people around you. Such a life must be satisfying."
His words made Stefan wonder if the man lived alone, after acquiring such a massive piece of land. Still, Stefan sensed the energy of multiple werewolves around.
But it wasn’t in a dangerous manner. The man probably used the place as a refuge camp, possibly from the victims of war from old Green Valleys.
"Would you like me to serve you anything before our discussion?" Darren asked.
"Cold tea." Sigma quickly replied. "Not too sweet."
Stefan gazed at him tiredly. "I’m fine. We can talk."
Darren spaced out, ordering Sigma’s request through mind link before gesturing for the officials to join him on a round table. "I have been curious about your visit."
"Did you know anything about Silent River Pack before it was promised to you?" Stefan started.
Possible answers zapped across Darren’s mind, that’d lead to more questions from Stefan, that’d leave to more answers from him. He picked the easiest one. "I did."
"Oh, even the Alpha’s family too? Like a son?" Stefan leaned closer.
Darren hesitated. Had the Lycan Alpha suspected he was related to the Alpha or it was just a curious enquiry?
"Not quite. The Alpha had a small family, a daughter, wife and he never spoke of a son. He wasn’t easy to speak to." He paused. "Is there something you want to know?"
There should be no way that the Lycan Alpha had found out that he was related to the former Alpha of Silent River Pack. He had no resemblance to his father even.
It could just be a curious question and he was expected to answer calmly, not giving out a speck of fear.
Stefan sighed after Darren’s response. He had hoped the traveler would know more about the Alpha with the blood of Lycan Hunters.
But if the Alpha was dead and without a heir there was no one to send them to such dark ages again.
"Do you feel okay sitting before a Lycan?" Stefan looked at him, asking. "I once noticed you had a Lycan Hunter."
So that was why he had asked the question? Darren forced a smile. The only reason he did that, was because the old man told him that a Lycan was close.
He had no clue the Alpha of the neighboring pack would see it as well. In that case, it was safe to come clean.
"Yes, on acquiring my land, I invited friends. One was from a line of Lycan Hunters but he isn’t a hunter. I’m sorry about that. He had sensed a dangerous Lycan."
The Lycan Alpha bought the lie immediately, feeling relieved that his neighbor wasn’t planning anything bad.
"But..."
Stefan looked up again as the man continued speaking.
"...I will confess that I feel quite uneasy sharing border with Lycans but I believe that as long as your Lycans don’t cause me trouble, we can both live in peace, right?"
Sigma looked from their host to his Alpha. Was their host subtly threatening them? It didn’t sound very much like a threat but more like a hope for cooperation.
The Alpha smiled. As long as the man wouldn’t involve Lycan Hunters when there was no reason to, he would make sure his pack behaved accordingly. "Very well then."
In the past, Stefan’s father had werewolves in their kingdom. Lycan Hunters were always a sensitive topic and werewolves didn’t speak of it.
Hearing his Alpha agree, Sigma relaxed. Maybe he shouldn’t overthink grown-up’s stuff, as long as there’s peace, that’s all that mattered.
"That was all I had in mind to ask. Can I ask for your name though?"
Darren hesitated. Would they be anyone back at the pack that’d remember his name if the Alpha even shared it?
He shoved the thoughts aside, all would have been dead already. And even if they weren’t, anyone could answer his name. "You can call me Darren."
"Hmm, Darren." Stefan repeated. "Then Darren, how come you can speak the language so easily now. I remember that before, you had trouble with it."
A hidden smirk came on Darren’s face. That was the first question he expected the Lycan Alpha to ask.
He cleared his throat. "Right, I’ve been waiting for you to ask so I can brag about my accomplishment."
Stefan raised a brow. Accomplishment?
Darren sounded cheery as he called. "Frida, come in please. She was the one who improved my fluency."
A young red-haired walked in with a sword by her waist.
Stefan turned to her, an unsettled feeling growing in his chest. Wasn’t that lady a maid in his quarters?
