Chapter 63: Prince Sorren

Chapter Sixty-Three – Prince Sorren

Laurel’s eyes remained on the door but her mind traveled far, back to the conversation she had with Sorren earlier.

He said he would tell her what killed her mother, but how would he know? He should be four when her mother died!

Even if it was actually related to why her father attacked their pack, Sorren should be too young to know.

"You forget he was five when he adopted Sigma." Elma reminded. "And I don’t think he’s lying. Or he’d have used that card on you a long time ago. He might actually know."

Laurel sighed. Was her the wolf saying she should go to the meeting with their mate? And what Sorren had said about Stefan’s feelings changing towards her...

"Your brother dislikes me." She had told Sorren. "I’m sure he’d gift me to the Lycan King as a pet to gain his favor."

"Don’t demean him. He’s not a sucker to anyone. And he doesn’t actually dislike you. Just a little confused."

A little confused about what? Laurel held her hair tightly. She wished she could physically sever the mate bond, so she wouldn’t feel so conflicted.

The door to her room finally opened, and she got back to reality. Jessika looked at her carefully as she walked in. "Princess, that was a long talk with the Prince."

Laurel wondered what she was insinuating. "I guess."

The cook sat besides her, with beaming eyes. "I did notice you two being close lately."

The princess shifted, due to how close Jessika leaned in. She wondered if Jessika heard their conversation and was trying to confirm if she and Stefan were mates.

"No, I don’t think Sorren and I got ’close’."

Jessika covered the space she just made. "Oh, tell me. Is Prince Sorren the mate you found that made you daydream a lot recently?"

It was like a mirror of hopes had cracked before Laurel. And what did the cook mean by ’daydream a lot’? "No, not at all. Not even possible."

Before, she might entertain the thought because he was good-looking, smart and gentle but, he wasn’t actually gentle and gentlemen were becoming really important to Laurel due to how her life has been.

Sorren had his twisted side, even more twisted than hate and love. At least, Laurel knew Stefan hated her because of her father, but Sorren, he still stayed close to her.

If he could befriend his enemy, then who does he show hatred to? His comrades? He does act like he really dislike Cade, and Jade, who are part of his family.

Laurel shook her head. Like Sigma. They’re complicated fellows. "That one isn’t my mate."

"Who’d keep his mate in a maid quarters?" she shrugged. "He’d quickly reject me if I was his mate."

Jessika frowned. "I think the Prince is romantic. When I serve him food, I see beautiful ornaments and hair pins in his room. They must be gifts to the girls he..."

Laurel raised a brow when Jessika stopped her sentence short. "Or he wears them, silly! Sorren is a stingy cat. Did you ever see him with a girl?"

"Could it be that... he likes men?"

Laurel sighed. Wasn’t she thinking too far? It’s not like there was an eligible girl he could flirt with if he wanted to.

Apart from the maids, Jade was the only one around. At the Lycan Packs Meeting, she’d definitely see another side of him. "I remember, what the Prince told me was to follow them on a journey as their maid in waiting."

"They only further want to humiliate you." Jessika hissed.

"Don’t worry, I’d be okay. But then, in a week’s time, I’d transfer my job, of serving and feeding Jade, to Lisa. Help the poor girl out. You know what I mean."

A mischievous smirk came to Jessika’s lips. Since Lady Jade beat up her body, she’d been looking for an indirect way to deal with the bitch. "Certainly."

~~~
The bitch finally awakened. Cade rested from the wall and faced her. "Jade. Did you think this was your bedroom?"
The werewolfess left the ground she laid on, and stood on her feet. Where was she? Why did it feel like she fell from the tree she was sitting on earlier?
"Release me now!" she ordered.
Cade seethed. She had some guts to use that tone on him when she was in a sticky situation. "Did you try to hurt the Alpha?"
"I didn’t. I-I..." she remembered falling, to attack the cook she sighted down the tree. "I only want to kill that cook!"
Cade’s gaze darkened on her. It was the same thing. So she decided to hurt the Alpha for not listening to her demands? Even in his injured condition?
Shouldn’t she be trying to protect him from anymore harm as his future Luna? "Are you supposed to hurt someone you should protect?"
Jade’s eyes flared in annoyance. Did he mean that cook? She was to protect that arrogant cook? "I don’t agree."
Cade looked down. "Oh really? You won’t believe but this won’t be easy for me. The torment I’d give you."
Torment? Jade backed away. He’d torment her for wanting to harm a cook? "You’re a lunatic! Cade!"
"Torment isn’t my specialty but I’d do my best. After all, Sorren who’s better at it, would be replacing you at the Lycan’s Packs meeting. You should be grateful for it."
Sorren? Jade shook her head. Not again. Why was he winning against her? She began panicking when Cade walked away.
Should she apologize for trying to hurt the cook? Should she apologize for all the wrong doings she had done so she could get out to be with Stefan.
"Wait..." a small sound left her but Cade already walked out. She slowly collapsed to the ground. Was this where she’d be forever?
Cade stood outside the door, even if he didn’t hear her last words, he sort of pitied her.
He smirked. But again, he sort of didn’t.
She could have poured her frustration on anyone other than the Alpha, or Sorren, or Sigma or him. The maids would’ve been enough. Perhaps till they snap as well.
He sighed, walking towards the Alpha’s quarters. "Well, good riddance to bad rubbish. One less annoying being."
