Chapter 59: The Plan

Chapter Fifty-Nine – The Plan

The hood of the robe was lifted and LAUREL flung her hair dramatically. "Even if that was a really risky shit!"

Jessika smirked. "Jade who we wanted to blame it on got herself into deep problem. I hope the plan is still on."

No, the deep problem was part of the plan. Laurel held unto the charm on her waist. With that, her identity was masked, even her identity as Stefan’s mate.

Recently, due to how irritated Jade felt, she overworked the maids till some of them fell ill. The young maidens had then rose in rebellion to strip her off her position.

Their ideas were so absurd that Laurel wondered if they thought killing was so easy. It was then she heard that to survive, each of them were forced to kill someone.

Each of them except, Frida, Valkyrie and the two warriors that came later, and, Lisa. Laurel also understood that was how Vista died, killed by her best friend, Lia.

With the realization, Laurel couldn’t refuse their plea. To hurt someone close to Jade was finally agreed on, and the Alpha was voted. Jade would also be blamed for it.

It was a desperate plan, but with satisfying results.

Laurel had to agree, after all, she wanted to hurt Stefan for all he did to her. And with Darren’s charm, she wouldn’t feel the pain. Just the guilt, curses from the mate bond.

"Such a bitch I’m growing to be." Laurel smirked, as she pulled Jessika towards Jade’s quarters. "Next, we’d keep this robe in her place as evidence."

The maids at Jade’s quarters had already agreed to keep it in her wardrobe, and say that it was one of Jade’s prized outfits if they were ever asked.

After leaving the evidence, Laurel rushed back to the maid quarters to tell the raging maids that it worked.

Laurel still left the charm on her waist, scared of what great amount of pain would befall her if she let it go.

Elma had been quiet, perhaps imagining the pain that their mate was going through. But Laurel seared her heart – he always did the same when it came to her.

All his officials would be hurt too. Especially Sorren, and that was her gift to him for causing the death of Vista.

She laid on her back, on the bed, while listening to the gushing of the maids outside. Even the ones that were sick felt better knowing Jade was being punished.

Laurel smiled. Maybe what she did wasn’t so bad after all.

Her smile fell when she could no longer hear the maids chattering. What happened? That was silence caused only when something bad happened.

Laurel left the room but paused on seeing Sorren.

She remembered what Darren had written in his letter to Jessika. That Sorren was smart and they should play it safe by denying everything, if he happened to ask.

As long as there was no evidence, he wouldn’t push. But Laurel knew she couldn’t just deny it, especially as Jessika had been beaten by Jade and Cade knew that.

But then again, Sorren wouldn’t expect Jessika to have told her already, unless she had been close, so she could as well act like she knew nothing about it.

She slowly left the door and stood where he’d see her.

He just stood there, at the entrance of the maid quarters, looking down, silent. He looked distressed, it was quite obvious with his soft features.

He finally looked up, making some maids shiver. They knew what they did. But Laurel didn’t bother about their reaction. Sorren should expect them to fear him.

"Has anyone of you served in a prison before?"

Prison? Lisa looked up. She had some experience serving at a prison but she wasn’t very ready to volunteer. What was the offer about!

"What about one that stayed there before?" Laurel asked, moving closer, as she wasn’t yet in his line of sight.

He turned to her. She stopped moving. Those unusually green eyes, one that usually had mischief mixed with beauty. They just looked sad.

Was that how much his brother meant to him? Or something else happened? She almost pitied him.

"Hmm, you’d do, princess. In fact, you’re perfect for this. It can even be an extension of your punishment."

What? Laurel backed away, she looked back in his eyes, the mischief was coming back to them. That chameleon! She should have never pitied him!

"My punishment? I already have..."

"From now onwards, you’re in charge of prisoner Jade. Serving her meals, and making sure she doesn’t attempt killing herself again. She’s deranged now so be careful."

Hearing the punishment, Laurel couldn’t help but wonder if he was joking. A maid was to serve as Jade’s guard? Because those roles he listed were for a prison guard.

The maids began chattering excitedly, making Sorren turn to them. They became dead silent.

"So princess Laurel, you are on duty." Sorren repeated. "Starting from this moment. She eats thrice a day."

That bitch would eat thrice a day? Laurel frowned as Sorren left their quarters. She rubbed her face tiredly.

Whether or not it’ll be exhilarating to see Jade in prison, this new punishment was really a punishment.

She had to make sure the bitch didn’t kill herself again due to shame. Not that she’d care if she did. Jade wouldn’t give a rat’s ass if any maids died, or a cook even.

She had injured Jessika badly when she’d never directly hurt her before. If not the plan had been set in motion and Cade searched for Jade, Jessika could’ve suffered worse.

Laurel was snapped from her thoughts by the maids, who circled her, shouting suggestions for torments.

"Your highness! This is your a chance!"

"Your highness! Prince Sorren didn’t say you can’t hurt her! Beat her up if she disobeys you!"

"Princess, make sure you feed her half a plate!"

"Pour water on her rice and force her to drink it!"

Laurel’s eyes widened. Water in rice? It reminded her of the watery soup she was forced to eat on many occasions. She turned to Lia, who had suggested it.

Since it was revealed that she killed Vista, and Jade got punished, the girl had been more social and chatty, like she finally overcame the guilt and bonded with other maids over a new crime.

Laurel chuckled. "Hmm, that’s a good one! I should feed her now. Someone, get food and lots of water!"

The maids cheered as they dispersed to prepare a meal. "Your highness. I have a badly chipped plate. Do you want to use it to feed her?" it was Lisa’s suggestion.

Laurel patted her head. "Very well! Bring it too!"
