Chapter 413: Worried

Chapter Four Hundred-Thirteen – Worried

"Your Highness." The maid said to silence Stefan who was about speaking. "Jessika said that I could call for your meal anytime you wake up. Should I go now—"

"Yes, please." Laurel hurriedly said and cleared her throat. "I’d like you to arrange one for my guests too."

The maid’s eyes shifted to the alpha and disgust flashes in her eyes before she walked away. Laurel noticed that look and she could bet Stefan must’ve.

"She was the daughter of a warrior. Most of them were." Laurel said in an attempt to defend the girl.

Stefan nodded quietly understandably. They had been losses at both sides and this was only just the first a year since Green Valleys’ loss.

Last time at Black Claws, it had been easy to count the losses because it surpassed the living.

They even had to train your kids to learn to fight and that’s who Sigma and Dylan were brought to Sorren as they were the youngest during that era.

"It might sound emotionless to say but after war, there’s always sorrow and then growth. Focus on the growth." Stefan said.

.laurel smiled at how intelligent he could be, before wiping the smile off when she realized he might see. She looked down on the necklace and the smile came up again.

"So by this week, we’d start the relocation to our pack, High Mountains. I was wondering if there’s a way you could invite Silent River to attend." Stefan asked.

Laurel raised a brow and placed her hand on the arm rest. "Is there a reason that you can’t do it? You have direct alliance with them, no?"

"Sorren was saying something about the owner of that place being..." Stefan trailed off. Should he really tell her about it since she’d know if that Darren wasn’t who he said he was. He exhaled, brushing it all away. He needs to be on the same pace as Laurel or they’d not have mutual understanding of the other. It’d also take her more time to get used to him so he’d take it slow. "You’ve know Darren for a while, haven’t you?" he qsked instead. Laurel adverted her eyes to the door where the maid was returning with the meal. The secret of Sir Darren’s identity had stayed hidden for a while and it was best it stayed that way. She didn’t want to jeopardize his very peaceful pack. If Sorren was guessing some things, they just had to make him wrong. That’s all.

She brushed her hair back and smiled brightly. That smile caught Stefan off guard that he thought his chest would burst. "What I know is what you know."

Stefan ended it there. He could sense the passive aggression she had spoke with so didn’t even want to know more. "I see."

He moved for the maid to drop her food and was quite stunned when he saw another plate for him. Would he be eating with her the second time in a short while? He wasn’t complaining.

He turned to the maid who had a grumpy expression as she returned to where she had been standing. He wondered if his presence felt like needles to her.

He decided not to let it bother him and revel in his eating time with his mate. They’d be discussing heavier matters soon enough.

Meanwhile, at the Lead Hunter’s quarters, Bebe learnt from Lisa how to farm at a rocky land.

Rolling stones was hard to fertilizer and if not she had gotten those really good fertilizers from Prince Sorren, Bebe was almost positive her pack would’ve been starving again next year.

"This is all, right?" she asked after writing down what Lisa has said. She only needed to keep the land wet and fertile? That sounded a bit too easy, and hard at the same time.

Maybe it was because she had stayed at Green Valleys for long but watering a farm wasn’t the easiest things to do. Water wasn’t the easiest resource to find.

Lisa dismissed her so she and the other girls could work on the farm. Bebe thanked her and walked out of the farm. Green Valleys would definitely be prosperous for a long time with how industrious the girls were.

Bebe sighed, as she fell on her bed in her room. There was so much she needed to be able to do by the she took over Rolling Stones and become their Alpha.

"I wish my mother was still alive." She said and curled into a ball. "I wouldn’t be thinking of all these now and when it’d be time to think of it, I’d have guidance from her." But now, she was just running blind.

Feeding was the most important but it still wasn’t the only problem she’d face. She still wasn’t the strongest to protect the pack from rogues.

She had to know how to navigate politics and handle the oppositions she might face. She also needed to know about medicines, at least the basics.

She rolled frantically from one side of her bed to another. She couldn’t just rise like Princess Laurel’ because Green Valleys was raided and not destroyed

Since its root was still firm, the people thrived. Also Princess Laurel had supportive people around her while she had nothing.

Tears came to her eyes as she remembered how she had been refused by her pack that last time and if not Prince Sorren came to help, her pack would never have listened. "How would I lead a pack like that by myself?"

There was a knock on her door and she quickly left the bed and wiped her face. "I am coming, I’m coming... Thales?" she opened the door and looked at him quizzically.

Thales raised a hand. "How are you feeling? Jessika said you didn’t eat and I should check if you have an upset stomach." Thales sighed. "honestly, you all take me like a Doctor when I’m a Witch. Don’t you have medicines you could just take?"

Bebe smiled and invited him in. "I didn’t eat because I was busy with my thoughts so Jessika doesn’t need to worry. Can you also give me some pointers?"

"About what..." Thales looked around and wondered where he could seat but there was only a bed in the room. That would feel weird, sitting on a bed in a girl’s room so he stayed afloat by the door.

Bebe fell back on her bed. "I do not know how to be an Alpha. I do not know how to lead a pack. What if I actually make things worse with lame ideas?"

Thales nodded, those were valuable fears. "I doubt that anyone knew how to handle any of what you mentioned. It gets tossed to them or they inherit it but no one ever knows how exactly to lead. There’s no teaching for it."

Bebe slowly rose from the bed. That wasn’t what she needed to hear yet that didn’t feel so bad to hear. "Princess Laurel is doing a good job at it though."

"And if you know her story, you’d realize that it took a lot for her to step up and be this good." Thales shrugged. "It’s a journey and even she has a lot to learn. You should be asking ideas from her, and not me though."

Bebe sighed. "The Princess has her own problems. About the Alpha being her mate stuff. So I wouldn’t want to bother her with my own issues."

Thales nodded and laid down while still on the air. "I doubt be her problem for long though."

Bebe’s eyes widened and a small smile creeped to her lips. Did he mean that the Princess would finally accept the Alpha’s feelings because Goddess knows he’s trying.

"Do you know that for sure?" she asked so she wouldn’t get her hopes so high. The Princess meant so much to her and she really wanted her to be happy.

Thales hummed but the smile on his face made Bebe confirm. Finally their Princess would be having a happy ending. Bebe left the bed. That oddly motivated her.

At the end of the days, she’d also be able to lead her pack and make a happy ending for she and all those who’d be following her.

"Thanks Thales!"

Thales turned to her, wondering what exactly he has said. "Well, sure. Just do your best for them and let them be involved in shaping their pack to something more beautiful. They’d treasure your leadership."

Thales said this because the wellbeing of the kingdom of Damancas was more on the people than the King. The decorated the walls with gems and organized sports created themselves. The royal family only gifted rewards based on the rewards gotten by the winners.

The people could freely judge the royal family with no judgement made on them and that’s why the Princes aren’t spared. Also many officials are normal citizens and are changes regularly to make sure there’s no chain of corruption. Not to add the absoluteness of witches.

Damancas was really an amazing place to habit.
