Chapter Four Hundred-Eleven – Taunts

Levine nodded to the King. Three days was enough for what they needed to do. The King had the powers to tell them when to stay so he wouldn’t refute.

"Alright. About the claim that High Moon Kingdom was engaged in killing werewolves, I believe it was dubbed that way because you are the King of Lycans and your actions will be supported by the majority. In other words, your actions are their actions."

Asher visibly scowled. That sounded like cheap talk to make him the villain along with High Moon Kingdom.

Levine added. "However, we could do neutralize that saying when we return to Lunaria. After all, we’ve seen the Princess oh Green Valleys spoke in support of you, there’s no way she’d do that when you still kill her kind."

Asher hummed and relaxed on his chair. Who’d have known that that Green Valleys’ Princess would be the one to cut him some slack from these people.

"So you’d stay here to observe the Kingdom. I don’t have to do anything extra for you and you don’t have yo scare my people, is that the deal?" Asher asked.

The siblings looked at each other and slowly nodded. They followed the King’s movement as he walked out of the room. Was that really the end of the meeting?

Lorena hummed when the maid also left. The King didn’t look like she’d imagine, it that she expected him to have demon horns and fangs actually.

He had a soft face that had definitely gone through many fights yet still managed to look that round. Also, he spoke more reasonably than she expected, more reasonably than she liked too as she wouldn’t mind them getting into a fight.

"I guess we’re done here. Let’s go rent a motel." She said to her brother and they both walked out of the room. They saw a lady seated on a bench on the way.

Lorena narrowed her eyes at the boy whose head rested on the lady’s laps. The King didn’t have a wife and brother, did he? She ignored them and kept on going.

"Lunaria shouldn’t try anything suspicious after this."

Lorena paused when the lady spoke and she had a masculine voice. She folded her arms. "And you are?"

"Sorren of Black Claws Pack." He didn’t spare them a glance. "Tell your superiors to respect the hospitality King Asher squeezed out of himself now."

The brother scoffed. "Incase you don’t know, you don’t have the qualifications to speak to us in such a condescending manner. Telling Lunaria what to—"

"You can get lost then. I’d pass my message to Zeno." Sorren rolled his eyes. He shouldn’t even better speaking to these people who his mother had been very wary of, but he cared less now.

They were the ones responsible for Sigma’s condition and why it was silly to blame the current witches for that, he couldn’t see how different the current witches were.

On hearing the Lycan call their captain in such a familiar way, the two clenched their fists but held themselves. The King hasn’t proven to be very difficult to speak too but it seems his people would be a little.

"The next time you mention—"

Sigma raised his head from Sorren’s body. "You are being noisy, miss. I need to sleep before that King finds me again so could you," be looked at the door, "leave?"

Lorena froze, while her eyes shot daggers at the boy. Who did he think he was to order her and interrupt her? "I am Lorena of Lunaria, the—"

"Oh, are these the Lunaria that I should be careful about?" Sigma turned to Sorren with an alarmed expression. "They don’t seem as strong as you said."

Sorren sighed in agreement. "Truly. When I heard that they had taken down a big notorious assassin group, I thought they were really fearless. It seems the group was just weak. These two only have their magic going for the.. I bet that’s all they used to win their fight."

The last words of Sorren reminded Lorena of when she had to use her magic when she didn’t want to. Her eyes darkened at the young man before she walked away.

Her brother left with her. Sigma shook his head and continued resting his head on Sorren’s body. He frowned a bit when he noticed the King coming to them.

"It’s nice to see you annoy others the same way you annoy me." Asher smirked.

Sorren clicked his tongue. Somehow he regretted annoying those two as they could come for Sigma as payback. They were unnecessarily vengeful anyway.

Asher got closer and rubbed Sigma who acted like he was fast asleep. "I’ve decided, I want you to return with my brother. Those two would stay three days here and since he provoked them, they may play with him using magic and it’d have a bad consequence."

Sigma jolted awake at hearing that good news.

Sorren immediately thanked the goddess that he had annoyed those lycans and made the King want to release Sigma. "I’d do that at once. Today we will—"

"When I get the results of the tests, I’d come to Black Claws Pack myself. Leave an accurate address for me." The King forced a smile.

Sorren didn’t know which one was worse but accepted it all the same. He’d give the address to Sam so she’d come as well and think about staying back for Sigma.

"It has been decided then." Sorren left where he sat and stretched his hand to the King. "I don’t need to do this, but I assure you, I will take good care of Sigma."

Asher hummed and took his hand.

Sigma watched them and couldn’t help but think he was being sold to the King while Sorren promised taking care of the goods till its time for delivery.

Yet he didn’t refute as he’d begun understanding some things that were happening and they weren’t bad. If the King was his brother, then Black Claws would be safe.

Sorren and Sigma left the King’s palace shortly afterwards in their carriage.

Sorren felt it’d be better to stay closer to Laurel than with Asher, so the King wouldn’t change his mind. Also by evening, they had to return back to Green Valleys.

Laurel had been given numerous snacks to try on the way back and write a report later, the cooks loved her detailed reviews and how she expressed the tastes

The Princess relaxed in the carriage by evening, while other worked to offload the gifts that they forgot to give to King Asher. Asher stared at them in disappointment.

"You could’ve just gone back with them though." He said as they made him stand at the entrance of his palace to sign each gift before they leave.

He’d have done that the day before while be was bored, instead of sparring with Nero and leaving him wounded.

Laurel carefully opened a basket of cookies the kitchen had given her, she noticed Escanor coming and quickly closed it. They’ve told her not to eat too much already.

"Princess," Escanor climbed the carriage. "Here."

A small smile came to her lips as she received the crown of flowers from him. They were beautiful with white and red flowered intertwined together to make a crown.

"For me?" she looked up at him.

He nodded while rubbing his neck. "I told you that I’d get you a gift when we got to High Moon and I nearly forgot. You like flowers, right?"

Liked? She loved it. She placed it on her head and tilted her head. "So how do I look?"

Escanor looked away as he muttered. "P-Pretty."

Laurel laughed the compliment off. "Thanks, thanks."

Minutes later, Thales woke up and joined them in sending the gifts to the King and finished things quickly with magic. She waved at him when he walked towards the second carriage and panic flashed in his eyes.

He had stayed up very late last night because of her yet she seemed so agile the next day? "Try to sleep in the carriage and Escanor watch her—"

"Oh, I’m staying at your carriage today." Escanor said and hurriedly got down. "The Princess can enjoy this carriage by herself." He chuckled nervously and entered the second carriage.

Laurel and Thales looked at the direction he went into. Didn’t he so clearly avoided being with her? Laurel sniffed and held the crown of flowers he gave her.

"All men do is lie." She said dramatically making Thales chuckled. She dismissed that and tried to open the basket of cookies again but Thales entered her carriage.

"I feel Zeldris will feel better that I am here and not in the same carriage to bother him." Thales said.

Laurel pushed the basket of snacks under something so looking at it wouldn’t tempt her, while looking at Thales grumpily.

Escanor noticed Thales stayed back again the Princess’s carriage and his jaw fell. Why were they changing formations now?
