Chapter Four-Hundred-Nine – Representatives
Laurel and Thales walked down the cottage as they discussed.
"Well, from what I’ve heard, it was a Grand Witch that placed the curse, one of our ancient ones actually."
Laurel wondered if that meant that he couldn’t lift the curse. Even if it seemed it couldn’t affect she and Stefan, which made her surprisingly happy, the curse was still a problem for her son and future generations. She didn’t want to ignore the problem.
"Well, the direct descendants of that wold had been cursed to lose their mates because the man had refused marrying the witch when she got pregnant. The man claimed he already had a pregnant mate so the poor lady was cursed to die after birthing his child."
Laurel’s fists clenched. And so the deaths of many mothers of her bloodline had been dying when their children were still so young!
"Couldn’t they have punished the man himself and him alone?" Laurel asked with a sour tone.
Thales shrugged. "The man didn’t leave very long after his mate died anyway. It took practice and preparation for the males not to die of sorrow after their mates die."
Laurel sighed. So it was a double-edged sword.
Thales leaned in. "I also heard that the witch’s child seem to be the ancestor of Quincy, that’s why he has a wolf that’s unusually huge and resistance to magic."
Laurel balled her fists. Was that why he didn’t tell her this part because he was involved? She cracked her knuckles. She’d definitely make a hole in his head when she returned.
"Thanks for telling me this. I wonder if there’s a way to lift the curse from the female mate." She searched Thales’s face for an answer.
Thales didn’t look worried and nodded. Maybe time cursed faded to oblivion on their own but this one that took lives might stay longer.
"I don’t know how to lift it from your bloodline, but I can remove it from the son who carries it before he meets his mate. Some witches had done it for those at Yudan." Thales noted.
Laurel gritted her teeth. Again, Quincy didn’t say anything about a solution. She could only depend on Thales experience and travels after everything.
"Thanks for telling me all these... it doesn’t mean that—"
"I personally think you should accept Alpha Stefan if he’d release Green Valleys from his hold. That should be your major argument." Thales advised.
Laurel nodded. She knew that already. Black Claws had to let Green Valleys be on their own completely unless he had won and if he wanted her, he couldn’t win.
"I will talk to him about it when we return. Let’s return." She paused and turned towards the palace where Sorren was still in with his own problems.
She remembered those were his own problems. The only reason he had wanted her there was incase King Asher asked him why he came when he wasn’t invited, then she’d say she invited him.
She didn’t know why he wanted her to do that when he could just make Sigma do it but perhaps he expected Sigma to forget about him for a while when they reach there. Instead, it seemed Sigma didn’t even understand how serious things were.
"I hope you do not plan to leave yet. We should return with Prince Sorren." Thales suggested.
Leaving with Sorren, also meant leaving early with Sigma and it was important that Sigma doesn’t stay very long there so he could get attacked.
It’d be better if King Asher announced his long lost sibling being found when Sigma wasn’t around. Whole Sigma was strong, he wouldn’t be able to defend himself from magic equipment. And whoever would try to kill him would probably bring magical items that’d give them an edge over him.
Laurel didn’t ask many questions concerning his reason for wanting to stay and wait for Sorren and accepted it. She’d stay at High Moon and enjoy all the good it had to offer. The thought of eating delicious food made her satisfied and she hurried home to satiate herself.
Meanwhile, Sorren was under pressure from the message Nero sent to him to give to the King. Lunaria had sent representatives to speak peace treaty with High Moon Kingdom.
Not only would that action possibly annoy King Asher, the representatives had to be two siblings Lorena and Levine who Nero said had killed the assassins the king was sent to Lunaria.
What bothered Sorren more was the fact that Asher had even gone as far as to send assassins to Lunaria before.
Sam had also told him that how she came to know the King was because he had gone toward Lunaria to attack and had seen a Lycan Witch kill the rest.
Sorren couldn’t believe how dangerous prone and daring that King acted sometimes. Now that the representatives that knew of his crime were coming and Lycan witches at that, things got get bad.
"If I feel I should call Thales. For Sigma’s sake." Sorren mouthed. There’s no way they’d try attached Asher and Sigma wouldn’t try to get involved because he felt obligated too. Another option would be to take Sigma and leave but Asher wouldn’t easily let him go.
Sorren connected to Nero’s mindlink at the entrance. "Are they really coming today? Like this evening or something?"
Nero didn’t heat him panicking and wondered why the Lycan Prince wasn’t worried. Nero had been prancing about because he couldn’t think of anyway to protect the King of those representatives try attacking.
Their king couldn’t say no to it or Lunaria could misinterpret it as they weren’t ready to make peace. With the King’s recent decision, Nero could see why a peace treaty was in order so it’d steel his resolve.
"They will arrive soon so probably this evening." Nero replied. "What do you think we can do?"
Sorren sighed. Accepting them was the only thing he could do, he could care less what happened to Asher but he was the King of Lycans. Any attack on him was obviously an attack of Lycan and it wouldn’t be taken lightly. "Invite them to a special house far from the palace and not at a place the people habit. The King will meet them there and anything that happens would be handled by him."
Nero nodded slowly. That’d be better. As long as they were in a place that a fight could easily happened, theyd think less about attacking and more about the peace treaty they claim to want.
Sorren disconnected the link and knocked on the door where Sigma’s samples were being taken. The doctor permitted him to come in and he strolled in.
King Asher was besides Sigma and Sorren rolled his eyes. He could always give the boy space.
Sorren felt Sigma trying to communicate with him and released his mind link. "He makes you uncomfortable, doesn’t he?"
Sigma sighed in mind link, eyeing the King that stood so close to his bed that he couldn’t even see Prince Sorren that came in.. "Can I push him back?"
Sorren grinned, when he heard Sigma’s question in his mind link. "You can." It’d emotionally hurt the King when that’d happen.
However, Asher held Sigma’s hand the moment he lifted it, he glanced at Sorren. That one would be the only reason Sigma suddenly wanted to hit him. "You are actually a bad influence to Sigma, aren’t you?"
Sorren wondered how he could sense he’d be attacked but brushed it away. That wasn’t the only problem coming his way. "Don’t stay too close to him."
"Don’t show your jealousy so boldly." Asher smirked. "And why are you here? If you want to take a check to know if you’re my siblings, then I can tell you no."
Sorren leaned on the wall and closed his eyes, thinking of how best to break the news that Asher woiodnt sure visible disorientation that’d make the doctor worry.
He also wanted to say it in a way that Sigma wouldn’t also know what’s going on and stay at a place.
"Are you here to tell me about the Lycan Witches from Lunaria coming? Don’t worry, if it gets to a fight, I’d win."
Sorren’s eyes snapped open and he glared at the King. Did Nero tell him already? Or was it Nether? He should’ve waited till Sigma and the doctor were out of earshot. The doctor looked up and then down again and mouthed ’lycan witches?’. Sigma looked from The King to Sorren before frowning. "Are they strong? I should stay away from witches though."
Sorren nodded quickly. It’s good that he still remembered that magic wasn’t good for his health. "You should stay away. They only came to see the King."
Asher looked unbothered as he kept on watching the doctor take samples of Sigma. Deep down, he felt excited about the new visitors but he didn’t let it shows because it’d be safer for everybody if they didn’t arrive.
