Chapter 403: Playful

Chapter Four Hundred-Three – Playful

A huge wolf that almost stood as tall as trees sped through the forest, almost crashing on the carriages but for his timely jump across.

Laurel looked at where he had jumped and the ground literally sank down that she pitied it. She looked up at Quincy’s wolf and saw that it had little pups on it.

"Hey! Quincy, who do you want to give a heart attack with that tall thing! Why are kids on you?!" Zeldris yelled from his carriage.

Escanor and Laurel nodded in agreement He shouldn’t play around when he was easily the same size with trees that kids find dangerous.

He came closer and Laurel told herself not to move or he might feel bad about his size.

When he came closer, he bent his head and one of the pups on him handed Laurel a basket with a cute smile. Laurel smiled and took the basket, she looked in and saw that it was a fruit basket. She gasped. "Rolling Stones can now plant their own fruits?"

The child nodded with pride and Laurel and Escanor clapped for them. Their land and soil had been so damaged but now that it could plant such healthy looking fruits, that meant they could survive on their own better.

In other words, less work for her and more for Bebe who’d be taking care of them. Laurel already planned to have an alliance with them so that their relationship would continue and the weapons would keep coming.

She patted Quincy’s head and watched him run back with the pups that were shouting excitedly.

She was on edge and wondering if they’d fall till Quincy’s wolf and the pups were out of sight. She exhaled and sat down back.

Meanwhile at Sorren’s carriage, he was still looking at the direction the wolf went to. His cousin had called that abnormal beast, Quincy? Did it mean it was the same shape shifting man-woman he knew?

He remembered what Cade had spoken about a certain girl who was the Princess’ guest and had a terrifying wolf. Sorren nodded.

Cade really wasn’t seeing things that day. He patted Sigma’s head and was glad that he didn’t get to see that part or he might have tried to use it and take off stress.

The carriages continued moving and by the next hour, almost all the carriages were sleeping. Thales stayed awake to avoid the carriages getting kidnapped.

He could sense that Prince Sorren was awake for the same reason. He appeared on top of their rooftop. Their rider noticed but didn’t react the moment he recognized him as the witch.

"What do you want, Thales?" Sorren asked, while rubbing Sigma’s head. "Did you find out something else about my Sigma?"

Thales chuckled. His presence must annoy him now and since he escaped before he could throw things and vent on him, he must be building it up.

"Nothing really, just wanted to know if you told him about everything yet. I suspected that you wouldn’t." Thales relaxed on the roof.

Sorren rolled his eyes, even if he couldn’t see Thales. "I have. Why else will he be here with me?"

Thales shook his head. That Prince spoke as if Sigma wouldn’t follow him to war if he asked suddenly at midnight. "I hope you have no resentment towards me telling you that information."

Sorren said nothing and looked outside the window. "Would they be a way of removing the negative flow of magic in Sigma’s body? That’s all I care to know."

Thales stood on the roof but being light enough that his weight didn’t affect the roof.

The only way he was aware of was if Sigma learnt magic, which was not an option. He wouldn’t even dare suggest that to Sorren who could strangle him.

Another option would be for the Witch who put the magic in his stomach to take it out.

That was fifteen years ago so that Witch probably died when Sorren’s father had attacked the place they had kept hostages like the Lycan Queen.

The last option was allowing a careful Witch to abso6 the negative flow of magic from his body. However, any little mistakes and it could go amok and kill Sigma.

At the end of the day, there was no reply good reply he could give the Prince. "When I get the safest option then I’d let you know. All the options on the table are not very safe for him." He said.

Sorren hummed, appreciating the fact that he was actually looking for the safest option and not just wanting to throw any kind of solution to him.

The ride continued quietly and Thales returned to his carriage when he sensed that Zeldris was awake.

"Is it me or are these rides rather slow?" Laurel said in Zeldris’s mind link. "By the way, did any of you pack any snacks for the road?"

Zeldris smiled. He had opened his mind link only for her to complain and talk about food? She never changed. "Jessika did remember and pack it but its in my own carriage. How will I get it to you?"

He said this because he had initially wanted to stay in her carriage but she told him Escanor was already staying there. Now, he held her food.

He smirked when he head her groan.

"Can’t you ask Thales to bring it for me?" she asked.

Zeldris’s smirk fell. Why did he forget that Thales was here and could teleport? He turned to Thales with fallen shoulders.

"Princess said that you should give—" before he could finish, he was kicked out of the carriage by Thales. He rolled and stopped on his feet. He panicked.

Did Thales lose his head? But then, Thales poked his head out of the carriage and laughed at him.

Zeldris exhaled in relief that Thales did not actually run mad and was just joking around. If he truly ran mad it’d be hard to protect himself, the Princess and his cousin from his advanced magic.

He realized that the carriages were going ahead without him and begun running after them.

Sorren tilted his head when he heard his cousin’s voice yelling and calling after someone. He looked outside his carriage and saw Zeldris running on foot and Thales laughing at him.

He shook his head. That Grand Witch had traumatized him with news of Sigma and now wanted to traumatize his cousin? He looked away with a sigh.

Zeldris caught up and raised his head to hit Thales, leaving his stomach open and he got kicked out again and fell on his head. He laid there for a while and clenched his fists.

So Thales was in the mood for violent play? As long as he didn’t use magic then it wouldn’t be so hard to keep up with him.

Laurel waited for her snacks calmly, before asking Escanor to check on those two.

Escanor looked out and saw Zeldris running after the carriage and Thales asking him to run faster, when he could just tell the carriage rider to stop riding.

He sat back in the carriage and tilted his head. What were those two doing?

"Um... they’re alive." Escanor said as report since he didn’t know what the Princess wanted to know about them.

Somehow, he wished he was in the fun carriage since the Princess only slept and read books without looking at him.

"Ah, your Highness, Lady Cara had come looking for you yesterday evening." He said abruptly as he remembered.

Laurel stopped thinking of food for that split second and adverted her eyes from Escanor. Did that Lady already tell him about what she saw or did she come looking for her before she saw what she saw?

Escanor continued. "I had told her that you went to a restaurant with the twins. I don’t know if you met her later to ask her what she wanted."

Laurel nodded. Cara probably saw what she saw after Escanor had given her the directions to wait for her after leaving with her children. "I see. I’d talk to her when I return from this visit."

Escanor face palmed. "Of course."

Why didn’t he tell her before they entered the carriage? He only wanted to raise a topic that they could speak about but it was poorly planned since the Princess didn’t even seen the lady.

Laurel noticed he itched to say something, but not the kind of itch were he was annoyed at something. With that, the chances of him trying to speak about what Cara saw was low, and he probably didn’t know.

"What would you do if your mate turns out to be a rogue?" she asked, dropping her book and facing him.

Escanor didn’t expect the question, with the full attention too. His cheeks heated up as she looking at him squarely.

He rubbed his neck, angry with himself that he couldn’t speak now that he had finally gotten the attention he had been seeking.
