Her Vengeful Lycan Alpha
Chapter 402: Protect Her

Chapter 402: Protect Her

Chapter Four-Hundred-Two – Protect Her

By evening, she had informed all about her soonest visit to High Moon Kingdom. Thales would be accompanying her but might not reach the King’s palace.

Zeldris would accompany her with Sorren’s party and Escanor wanted to come along because of his cousins. They planned to leave early the next day.

Laurel found a letter of summon to the Alpha’s study. She looked it over and it was to get something of a permission to go to High Moon Kingdom.

She exhaled. Did he really need to give her a permission to go there? High Moon Kingdom was connected to her by his position but it didn’t mean she couldn’t go alone.

She’d have enough interaction with the Alpha King of that place to even barge in unannounced.

"Don’t you get it? He’s worried that what happened last time would happen again so he wants to see you before you go." Elma said with a lowered tone. "You just need to—"

"I see." Laurel cut her off.

In that case, she wouldn’t be going. If it was only a permission he wanted to give then the message made sense, if it wasn’t then he could’ve constructed his letter in a more appealing way.

"You want him to be more romantic now?" Elma couldn’t believe her. One time she didn’t want him to touch her and the next time she wanted him to write romantic letters?

"I don’t still want him touching me, Elma." Laurel said when she sensed her thoughts. "And for all the pain he had caused me, being intentional with better letters is the least he could do."

Laurel stared at his letter, looking at his hand writing before dropping it on the table. She mind linked Zeldris to go get the permission when he’s less busy.

Zeldris quickly accepted. Anything to make sure that Alpha and his princess had few interactions. He still knew it’d be to no avail, but for now, he’d do his best to frustrate the Alpha.

Maybe it’d make him treasure the Princess more when he would finally have her.

Zeldris knew that letter was specially addressed to the Princess for a reason but if she wasn’t interested, then he’d go in her stead happily.

He had a satisfied expression as he entered the Alpha’s quarters and the guards that saw him wondered why he looked pleased since he always looked grumpy when coming to see the Alpha. The Knight knocked on the Alpha’s entrance and waited patiently.

Stefan instantly recognized who it was and had a neutral expression. He had sent the Princess a permission with intention of speaking with Zeldris, because he knew that was who would come.

"Come in, Zeldris."

Zeldris frowned a bit. He had hidden his scent to delay how fast the Alpha would find out that it was someone other than Laurel. Why did it seem like the Alpha was waiting for him instead?

"Okay, Sir." He said with a flat tone and entered. He frowned on seeing the Alpha with a slight smirk. He might never be able to see this lycan as his cousin’s brother or as his princess’s mate.

Stefan shifted a written permit to him. "I’d remind you again to protect the Princess. Last time she went to High Moon, you did not do a very good job at that and my brother had to go there."

Zeldris’s hand clenched besides him but he calmly took the permit with the other hand. He didn’t need to be told to protect the Princess.

He had learnt his lesson during the last kidnap by that King. Also, Thales would be coming with them now so she had more than two protectors.

"Thank you." He struggled to say out.

Stefan nodded and gestured for him to leave. That was all he had to say to him, to get it off his chest even if he couldn’t fully trust him to protect his mate.

Sigma and Sorren would also be attending and while Sigma was strong, he could be easily distracted.

Also with what he recently heard from Sorren’s latest letter about Sigma’s connection to King Asher, the young boy might be a bit too distracted to remember his mate.

Whatever state of mind Sigma would be in, his younger brother would be in a worse one so he couldn’t also count on Sorren to protect his mate.

"Protect her from what?" Kai asked. "Things seem to be working and she’s not in any trouble currently. Don’t make her unfortunate her."

Stefan frowned. He noticed that Zeldris was gone and continued his work.

By the next day, Laurel was seated in a four-seat carriage with Escanor and some gifts from Damancas for the King.

The King and Queen of Damancas had been especially grateful for King Asher’s decision. Laurel looked at the gifts packaged for him with a bit of envy. They were really gifts meant for a king.

Escanor noticed her look and smiled. "I’d get you a pretty gift when we reach High Moon Princess." He smiled sweetly.

Laurel smiled and parted his head on instinct. She realized what she was doing and slowly lowered her hand from his head. She had to remind herself that he wasn’t Marino and cleared her throat.

"Sorry about that." She muttered, even if he didn’t seem upset. Escanor looked away when she lowered her hand and his cheeks and ears were bright red.

Sorren saw these from a distance and shook his head.

That Laurel was overly familiar with her officials and how lucky she was that most of them had to be male.

He entered his carriage that was only meant for three. He didn’t have any gifts for that King since he’d be taking his Sigma as his brother for a while.

"Sigma, let’s go." He said to the boy that was looking back at High Mountains. Sigma turned to him before looking down.

That expression hurt Sorren. When he had told him everything as Laurel had said, the boy had a different

reaction.

He had only concentrated on the fact that the energy in his stomach was made to kill him and since High Moon was where he was last attacked, he didn’t feel excited about going back there.

Sorren didn’t think he’d be that broad in thinking and not even excited at the possibility that the King was his brother. He wondered if it was because he had said it like it was a possibility and not a fact.

"Sigma, I’d be concentrating on only you so don’t worry. I wouldn’t let you get attacked again." Sorren assured. "Let’s go."

Sigma dragged his feet in the carriage and plopped down on a seat with a sulking expression. Sorren forced a smile and knocked on the ceiling.

The carriage began to move.

Laurel’s carriage moved as well, having only she and Escanor, with the numerous gifts for King Asher. The second carriage carried Thales and Zeldris.

The three carriages were out of Green Valleys and High Mountains packs in minutes. Laurel rested her head to sleep, and when she was fast asleep, Escanor climbed to the roof to enjoy the view fully.

His eyes caught Sigma looking at him from the back of their own carriage and he tilted his head. Sigma did the same.

Escanor slowly returned back to the carriage as he had heard from the maidens to avoid the officials of Black Claws aa they could be ruthless.

"You should’ve gone to Prince Sorren’s carriage." Thales teased as he relaxed inside the four-seated carriage that was obviously to big for only two people.

Zeldris looked towards Prince Sorren’s carriage and then away. He and Sigma seemed to be tensed with each other and he didn’t want to get involved.

Also, he could never compete for Prince Sorren’s attention and win.

"Let them stay together." Zeldris rested his head and closed pulled his eyes. "I also want to rest through this journey. I’d be following the Princess everywhere soon enough and recently, it’s become a hard job to follow her about."

Thales smiled. He had heard of her sudden disappearance with the twins in search for food. She always surprised them and it was even more disturbing that she disappeared with her children.

"You should protect yourself and leave her sudden disappearances to me. I don’t have anything doing than to watch her as well."

He had broken ties with Lady Zara for his own mental health and so that she wouldn’t worry about him from henceforth. She had new problems now.

There was no need to see her when he returned to High Moon, he would only concentrate on his duty as the Princess’s Grand Witch.

The ride was smooth and they reached Rolling Stones Pack. None of them had plans to drop while it was being handled by Quincy and Bebe.

But then, there was a loud howl that erupted through the forest. Laurel snapped awake and looked outside the window, recognizing Quincy’s howl.
