Chapter 397: Connected

Chapter Three Hundred-Ninety-Seven – Connected

Stefan noticed his mate turn to his direction. Before he could smile and wave, she pointed at the buffet table.

It made him chuckle. Of course, that’s the important thing to her. He was glad that she wanted him to partake in something she liked.

It showed that she no longer thought very badly of him. He jumped down the stairs and he headed to the buffet table.

Laurel pulled a chair for him besides her, then paused. She took it back and pulled a chair besides Mira instead.

The girl frowned and when Stefan came, she blocked the chair with her hand. Stefan raised a brow and moved to the chair besides Laurel, where he wanted to go to in the first face.

The Princess stared at Mira with lidded brows. She was so much like Lena with the way she frustrated her efforts at times.

The four ate all they could before paying and signing out of the room. The innkeeper gave them souvenirs as a goodbye before they left.

"So are we sightseeing again? I feel we have sightseen enough though." Laurel looked around the place. She had passed through many places in her anger and she didn’t even take notice of them.

Stefan hummed, and walked ahead, holding Marino on his shoulders. Mira clung to Laurel not wanting to be separated or given to Stefan.

"So we’d keep going?" Laurel asked since Stefan kept going ahead. She followed him when she said nothing and balled her fists to hit him since he ignored her.

"Don’t you want to look around when you’re at peace?" Stefan said and turned to her. He saw her fists were clenched and wondered what she wanted to hit.

Laurel took back her hand when she got a reply. "I see."

Stefan gulped down nothing and continued moving. He wouldn’t have thought that the weak mate he met that day would make him careful now. It was a good feeling.

They walked around the pack and whenever Laurel noticed the places she passed she became conscious not to be identified. Thankfully, she was never identified because her wolf and herself looked totally different.

"Oh, let’s go in here." Stefan grabbed Laurel’s hand and rushed into a store. It was a clothing store and there were also jewelries on the board.

Laurel looked down at her hand that was still in his hold. When would he be letting go? But she didn’t tell him to and just let him realize at his own pace.

Stefan looked for the jewelries that matched the one Koi had stolen. He had asked the thief about it and he said he sold it to a travelling pawn shop and they were long gone already.

Since he felt guilty, and really wanted his mate to wear something he got for her, he decided to buy a replacement for her.

He saw something crystal and shimmering and could already imagine it on her neck. He took it and raised it to the sunlight.

He checked Laurel’s expression as he saw him holding it but there was no excitement. He dropped it. She probably didn’t like it.

"Um... while you shop for that, I’d be taking them on a short stroll to that flower shop?" she took her hand off his hold.

Stefan felt cold immediately and he turned to her, looking hurt. She wanted to move to another store already? Didn’t anything here interest her?

Marino pointed at a green gemstone around a golden rope. "Like Princess own." he told Stefan.

Laurel turned to it and her eyes lit up. That was really like her own necklace that Lena had made for her. She took Marino’s hand down.

"I’m not buying but yes, it’s really nice. I’d be off then." She told the last part to Stefan.

Stefan looked at the necklace and grabbed it from the hold. He paid for it and left with Laurel.

She had spoken as if they didn’t go to look at it together so he didn’t know how to say he actually bought it for her. Who did she think it was for?

He remembered she had always had interest in flowers but he knew nothing about that. At that point, he really wished he could borrow a part of Sorren’s knowledge on those plants.

Laurel paid for a bouquet of flowers and gave each to Mira and Marino. She wanted to pay for three before noticing Stefan was still with them. "You don’t like flow—"

"I don’t mind." He said quickly.

She sighed. Of course, he wouldn’t mind. Flowers were a little too much to give as a non-romantic gift but since she didn’t know what they were at the moment, she left it at that.

She handed him a bouquet of wisterias which he stared at it for a while. They had a delicate beauty that seemed to enthrall him. He could definitely understand the appeal of flowers.

Marino showed him his own rose bouquet and he smiled at the boy.

They began returning back to how they came when they saw a river was up ahead. Stefan had the stray thought of asking them to go for a swim but that’d be too much for him and Laurel might actually kill him if he suggested it.

It seemed she had been withholding herself all the while from hitting him. As they walked out of Kleon, Stefan directed them to a different route that’d avoid the river and steep slopes, and also that bridge. It was quite longer but less troublesome.

Laurel stayed close to them as they were moving through a new path and he wondered if he could hold her hand now.

Marino saw him reaching for her hand. "Princess, I want to walk."

Laurel frowned slightly. Why walk when he could stay on her comfortably? She placed him down and arranged his clothes that crumpled a bit.

She stretched her hand to the boy but he only gave her one hand before holding Stefan with the other. He smiled at himself as he had a connection with Princess and Alpha. Stefan smiled back. He always worked overtime as his middleman.
