Chapter 396: Rage

Chapter Three Hundred-Ninety-Six – Rage

Stefan tilted his head, wondering what Laurel was trying to do as she stood in a menacing position. She wouldn’t try to take down all the Leader’s guards would she?

Her level of unhinge had begun to bother him but what bothered him more was that the children weren’t even with her.

The Leader of Kleon grabbed a spear from his guards and walked to her. "Princess of Green Valleys! You better stop here or things will get ugly!"

Elma growled loudly, trashing his threats. She spotted the weakest guard and broke his mind link.

"Apologize." Laurel said calmly, as opposing to Elma’s violent state. "Apologize or things will get ugly. You also have to compensate for your official’s foolishness or I’d use my alliance with Damancas wrongly."

The guard she spoke to shook in fear, before turning to the leader of Kleon and informing him of what was said.

The leader dropped his spear on being threatened with such a powerful kingdom. He glared at the looming form of the Princess’s wolf before he down.

She was truly strong on her own and she even had a powerful country like Damancas working with her.

What he had heard about her being played by lycans seemed to be a lie. If she was being played, she wouldn’t have the guts to talk back at him.

"I apologize for my official’s misconduct." He said with lowered head. The other guards saw this and bowed as well. "Kindly, let this slide. I’d do well to compensate."

Stefan nodded slowly when he saw this. Laurel really had her own way of sending her own message across.

The kind of mate that would support him and help him manage his workload. Stefan could see how beneficial Laurel could be to him since she spoke her mind.

He remembered the twins and rushed back to the house to get them. Elma huffed and jumped over them again.

The guards moved back as they had thought that she would be attacking. The weakest guard heard her in his mind link again.

"Also, what plans do you have for the other children that the kidnapper took? Can I take them with me since it seemed they’d never find a home here."

He shook his head but then communicated it to his Leader so he’d give a proper reply. The leader was surprised at her request.

He shook his head also, nevertheless. "Most of them have relatives and some are missing children whose families are searching for them, so I can’t do that."

He wondered if the Princess was so generous as to adopt many children that weren’t even related to her. "I will send compensation for your troubles as you leave."

Elma walked away from them after that. The leader exhaled, holding his chest. Such intensity coming from a teenage girl.

Why didn’t his father side with these kingdoms when they could?

Elma searched for her children and relaxed when she found them with Stefan. She stayed in the shadows and watched them cry and cling unto Stefan.

In her anger, she had abandoned them and ran after a thief instead. She had to change or her form might scare them. With that, she left Stefan with them and sped back to the inn.

She jumped from the window and got bruised when a shard of glass caught on her leg. She swiftly changed to normal clothes and fell on the bed, feeling tired from all the rage and tiredness.

Minutes later, Stefan knocked on the door and entered with the children. They were munching on snacks and weren’t crying anymore. He looked tired himself.

Marino laid upon Laurel’s sleeping body and Mira sat by her side eating her snack. Stefan sat on the bed besides them, and checked Laurel’s temperature.

She was strong to not have a high temperature after all that action. "I really wonder how she knew where to find him." He has asked the innkeeper and she said she didn’t tell her, yet she could pinpoint the exact location?

He and the leader could only find there because the guards and passersby said that a huge wolf ran that way and they were equally stunned to see her already with the culprit. Was her sense of smell that amazing?

Marino rolled into his arms and he made sure to catch him so he wouldn’t fall off. The boy smiled and kept on eating. Stefan lifted him to the bed and laid by him.

Laurel would kill him if she saw him on the same bed with her but that’d be a death for another time.

The innkeeper returned to the room and seeing the couple asleep, she smiled and returned downstairs.

She cancelled the window breaking tab and decided to accept it as her fault for being citizens with such a vile person as Koi. She shouldn’t even have given him a room in her inn in the first place.

Stefan woke up an hour later. He was alone on the bed. He caught Laurel’s scent downstairs and relaxed. She must be eating. He quickly got down so he’d watch her.

Laurel fed the twins twice before taking a spoon for herself. It was slow for her pace but she didn’t mind, she came to take them out and for the food so it wasn’t missing anything.

From the corner of her eyes, she noticed Stefan watching them and she hid her face from his view. She rubbed her burning cheeks and clicked her tongue.

When she had seen him on the bed with her, she had rolled out quickly and hit her head on the ground.

The twins had laughed at her as they’ve been awake all the while. She brushed it off as he was tired as well, even if she’d like to know what exactly made him tired since she had to find her children by herself.

All he did was bring men that interrupted her when she wanted to kill the bastard. She finally faced him and pointed at the buffet table.
