Chapter Three Hundred-Eighty-Seven – Redemption I
Bebe hurried into the place and rushed to Prince Sorren with a big smile on her face amidst a relieved expression. "Ah, I was busy when you came. I’m glad you waited behind for me."
Sorren stared down at a questioning expression. "Waited for you?" The girl was becoming more and more delusional.
A little girl walked out of the room Bebe left and Quincy turned to her and quickly raised her to his shoulders.
"Oh, pretty damsel, you should stay inside till you feel better." His voice changed to a female’s as he spoke to the girl and the little girl smiled, resting on his shoulders.
Sorren watched him till he disappeared into the room. His skill was even uncomfortable to think about but he could see the need for it as they were very few soft-spoken women around and someone needed to comfort the kids.
"How have you been doing?" he patted Bebe who smiled at the physical acknowledgement. "I need to hurry back." He added. "I know the reason for the illness now. Oh, can you tell me the symptoms again?"
Bebe enumerated. "Nausea, vomiting, pain in the stomach and fever. Early symptoms are like tiredness and weakness and that’s where ours is at now."
Sorren nodded. The animals at their farm had definitely shown similar traits and he had to stop it now. He patted Bebe on the head one more time before leaving.
As he walked out, he noticed some maids around someone and cheering for him. He slowed down but fastened up when he saw it was Thales.
Thales had a big smile as the maids kept on dancing around him and while he understood their happiness, he really wanted to lie down and rest.
Finally, the King dropped his hatred for werewolves, though it came with a condition and he had to leave it for Lady Zara. She said she’d handle it anyway.
"Ah, Prince Sorren." He called when he saw the Lycan Prince watching him with raised brows. The maids dancing hid behind him immediately though some of them peeked to look at the Prince’s face.
Sorren came closer. "I’ve been meaning to talk to you since the illness started at our pack. I needed a healer." he grabbed his arms and moved along with him.
Thales looked back at the maids that had fearful eyes, he knew that Beta Cade had done something that made the maids and Green Valleys startled, he heard it from a warrior as he arrived. "Um, I need to report to the Princess first. I’d meet you there."
Sorren released him and sighed. All the people he needed were involved with Laurel in one way or the other.
Bebe rushed out. "Prince Sorren, I could follow you and help you treat your sick. We’re already done here." She held a bottle of concoctions. "Our cook Jessika made this for our sick and they’re really getting better."
Soren looked at the ugly looking liquid in the bottle. He didn’t want to subject his people to such a drug but he knew Jessika’s ugly bitter drugs usually worked wonders.
He invited Bebe to come along with the drug.
Thales bowed to him as he left. He spun around and hurried to the hall. There was no one there and he calmly walked towards the Princess’s room. He heard her voice as she walked out with Zeldris.
"And if you see Thales, please tell me first. Many people are worried about him. I’m sure he’s safe though but do tell me first..." she trailed off when she saw him in front of her.
He bowed. "Greetings princess. First, I’d like to apologize for my sudden disappearance but it was not for naught."
He smiled. "King Asher will not be attacking Lunaria or werewolves ever again. Lady Zara helped be achieve this."
Zeldris nearly dropped Marino in his hands. That King really bent to that direction? He turned to Laurel who had an opened mouth.
She exhaled, and had a proud expression. "Finally! I’d personally thanks Lady Zara when I have the slightest free day for sure. She’s safe and didn’t have to lose much." Laurel’s expression turned fearful. "Or did she challenge him to a match and the loser does whatever the winner wants?"
That was fearful to think about but it’s Lady Zara they were talking about here and she was very imposing so could even say something like that.
Thales chuckled. Lady Zara had done something similar but not as reckless, she definitely knew she wouldn’t win in that, she didn’t even win a simple chess game.
"She’s safe..." Thales nodded at his words. She was going to be okay because she was Lady Zara and also had the backing of the Beta and former Alpha.
Asher wouldn’t ever be creepy to her and she’d serve her term right and maybe it could even blossom to something more.
The thought saddened him but he knew it was meant to be. Laurel noticed his expression. "You said she didn’t have to lose much so what did she even lose?"
Thales sighed. "The King was bound to stop his hatred actually, after a long while though. It was an anger that started since childhood so as he grew older, he’d get more busy and forget it. That was actually his father’s original reason for making him King."
Laurel’s eyes widened. She remembered how she felt when Asher became king and thought it’d make him destroy werewolves faster but it wasn’t really that way.
As she was also in a leadership’s position, she could see why better. Leadership didn’t mean power but slavery as they had to serve the people. There’s barely time for things like revenge and hate.
She noticed he didn’t answer her question about what Lady Zara lost but accepted that it might be something confidential.
She didn’t need to know every details than the most important one, and that was that King Asher had stopped his reign of terror on werewolves.
