Chapter 384: Her Request

Chapter Hundred-Eighty-Four – Her Request

"Wouldn’t you just tell me what you want?" King Asher asked when the game was almost going to an end.

Zara wasn’t in the mood for his question as she was actually losing. Who would’ve known that the King would be serious for once?

"It wouldn’t matter to you unless I win you so that’s what I’m going to do." She said with a tone of finality.

Asher didn’t appreciate how she worded it. She always like he did something specific to her so he’d always hate him for it.

Meanwhile, in his records, she was the one being really bad to him many times. Either ways, he wouldn’t let her win after all she had said.

He took the bishop she had been using to protect herself. Zara grunted, biting her nails.

Asher paused, noticing her action. A smile came to his lips. "Do you still bite your nails when you’re nervous? And I thought you lost all your childish habits when you suddenly became so mature."

She took her hand off her mouth. "You are the one who remained a child. I wouldn’t say I grew up much."

Asher’s eyes went to her body and back to the board. "You don’t say."

He played another move that put her in a disadvantage and enjoyed her sounds of frustration.

"You should tell me what you want then I might consider losing on purpose for your sake." He said with a mocking tone.

She didn’t cave in and clenched her fists by her side. "I’d rather lose and end the request than let you hand it to me. I am not a kid, after all."

She played a careless move so the game would end but Asher noticed and played a careless move too.

"What are you doing?" she frowned.

"You started it? What’s the difference between failing on purpose and cheating? None. They’re both against the rules." He smirked.

She clicked her tongue. How could she forget how sadistic he was? He’d prefer for her to lose and having to deal with it. She kept on the game till she lost.

As expected her failure hurt a lot more than just giving up early. She tried to leave but Asher held her arm. "It’s an order, what do you want?"

She turned to him, with raised brows. Why did it sound like he really wanted to know? It made her not what to tell him. "Would you grant it the moment it leaves my mouth?"

"Depends on what it is."

"Then I’m not telling when I might get a possible rejection." She tried to leave but his hand was still holding her back.

He looked annoyed. "Fine. If it’s to kill someone or do anything wrong, no. But fine."

Zara suddenly erupted with laughter and Asher let go of her. She fell on the bed, holding her stomach as she laughed. She looked at him, still laughing.

"I should not tell you to do something bad?" That was truly hilarious. Who between them did dangerous and sinful things? On the contrary, she wanted him not to do something dangerous. His thinking pattern was truly messed up, he must think he was so righteous.

She left the bed, staring down at him. "I want you to take your hatred for werewolves," she noticed his expression change, and her smirk widened, "and turn it to respect. You can’t possibly turn it to love, can you?"

Asher said nothing and looked back at the chessboard. "That was your request, Zara?"

She nodded. Wouldn’t he agree after he made a promise to? She’d use it against him if he tried to take his word back.

There was no reply from him five minutes later and she exhaled and stooped down towards him.

"Lunaria caused the death of your mother during the war times, but you’ve caused the death of many people’s loves ones who weren’t even from Lunaria."

She didn’t know how much he’d take in but because she understood him a little, she didn’t want to act like didn’t know the source of his anger.

"Your mother had... done what she did because she wanted the war to end, and it did."

Asher raised his head and the expression on his face made Zara step away from him.

He always had that murderous expression whenever talks of his mother were on. She sighed, adjusting her dress.

"Tell me when you fulfill your promise. Maybe I’d reward with you with a gift. Maybe."

She tried to leave but turned to him one last time, before finally leaving. Sometimes he was really pitiful.

Thales was waiting for the Lady when she walked out, she said nothing so he followed her as she walked towards the exit and down the stairs.

"You lost, didn’t you?’ he sighed, realizing that it’d be the only reason she wasn’t telling him everything yet.

Lady Zara grunted. How was she to know Asher had some skills? Or was she the one being too proud?

She wouldn’t say she played her best move the first time and only wanted to spite him.

"He still promised to do what I said, at least, he said he would till he heard it and fell silent."

Thales came closer and asked. "You mean he said he’d do it at first." He saw her nod and hummed.

The Lady probably had the King wrapped around her fingers a long time ago, after all, they had grown up together so he wouldn’t be very indifferent towards her.

Just as the mate bond goes, King Asher wouldn’t be able to tell she was his mate but would have the natural nudge to please her.

That’s if the King didn’t have an ulterior motive. Thales sighed, rubbing his hand on his face. It was the King in question so he probably had tons of ulterior motives waiting to resurface.

"Just wait till he tells me his response. I’d easily coerce him to give me what I want." Lady Zara added.

Thales stared at the Lady intently. She also knew that she had a strong hold on him, didn’t she? Then did she think it was because of her strength?

Asher was definitely not that type and he clearly didn’t simp over her beauty. "They may be more connected than they even know."

Zara turned to him. "What? Be audible."

Thales shook his head with a small smile. "Ah, nothing. I was just wondering where Zeno left afterwards I had wanted to speak to him."

Zara shrugged and left for her quarters.

(Green Valleys Pack)

An illness had found the perfect time to break when the raining seasons came and Laurel had to monitor the twins, take care of the sick while attending different meetings with the officials of Black Claws pack.

At the point, she was sure the Alpha either called her for the meetings to frustrate her or to make her leaner than she already was, which was still frustrating her.

"Or because he wants to see you but needs to have a good excuse?" Elma suggested within Laurel.

The Princess rolled her eyes. That was a very bad excuse her wolf brought. He could always come to her own place instead of making her sweat a bucket every time she had to walk there and back three times in a morning.

She was on her fourth walk back there that morning again, cursing and wiping sweat from her head. She reached and pushed the door open.

The guards made no reaction as they had already stiffened themselves, smelling her anger and annoyance many miles off.

She exhaled, and forced a neutral expression on her face when she was outside the door, before walking in.

Zeldris had stayed back at the Alpha’s study to help them sort out reports, he frowned when he saw the Princess had been summoned there again.

He glared at Beta Cade who was dishing out the summons like he had nothing better to do.

Laurel fell on a seat besides Sorren and rolled her eyes when she saw that Sorren’s head was still on the table, and he was asleep.

So much for ’everyone had to contribute to the meeting’ when Black Claws smartest Prince was dozing off. The favoritism was appalling.

"After this, you’re going out with me and no summon will get us back." She whispered to Zeldris when he came close to her.

He nodded strongly. The illness hasn’t reached Green Valleys the way it struck Black Claws warriors and how it ravaged High Mountains.

Zeldris would want to believe it was their farming that brought that yet even Cade’s suggestion to take down the farms was refuted by Sorren.

At the end of the day, only the Lycan officials could solve their own problems so they shouldn’t even have bothered his Princess.

Zeldris noticed the Alpha watching Laurel and felt bitter inside, he called Laurel’s attention to something and she turned away from the Alpha’s line of sight.
