Chapter 383: To Seduce
Chapter Hundred Eighty-Three – To Seduce
(At High Moon Kingdom)
Thales dodged the last guard that was patrolling before jumping through the walls of Lady Zara’s quarters, there were servants waiting to catch him as he fell and without using magic, he left himself to fall on them.
They all shared a laugh as they ushered him into a room in the middle of the night, when they were gone, his smile faded.
He never wanted to do these to these people who were nice to him but he had to get to the bottom of whatever the King was doing and the only person who could figure that out was Lady Zara and for unique reasons.
He entered her lounge and bowed his head. "Good evening, Lady Jade."
She was still retouching her makeup with an annoyed expression, she turned to him, sighed and looked away. She could never expect that he’d test her like that after she had confided in him.
"So you claim that the King is looking for a suitable bride for the King now? I mean the former king is looking?" she asked, leaving where she sat.
Thales looked up and his cheeks reddened. She was truly a sight to behold with his the white dress clung to her flesh and outline her curves.
He felt guilty again and looked away. "Yes. You just have to play the role of a prospective choice and convince the King to drop his case against Lunaria? It’s becoming really big and the witches might act and do something dangerous."
Zara grunted. Of all the people she had to seduce for a favor, that stupid King had to be one of them? She couldn’t believe the request at all.
"Do you think it’d work? I hear he was quite smitten with Laurel, the Princess of Green Valleys. Find a way and get to her."
Thales shook his head. "I can’t. So many people would crucify me for it and the King already locked her in his palace once, it’d be unfair to subject her to that again. Unlike you, she isn’t that powerful to withstand the King."
Zara flung her hair back. So it’s like that? "One night. I’d only do my best in this for one night. I don’t know what miracle you expect from me to change the heart of that King in one day but I’d do my best."
Thales looked up at her with a saddened expression. "You know why I asked you to do this."
The Lady glared at him before walking past him. "You are beginning to annoy me, Thales. Let’s go."
He sighed and left with her. She was the perfect person to carry this plan out and he had already foreseen how tired the King was of his fight against werewolves.
Duties as a King was overwhelming and he had connected with some werewolves that he wouldn’t think twice before killing, he wasn’t the same selfish King and Thales wanted to give him the benefit of doubts.
Outside he veiled himself and Lady Zara before elevating then over the wall and walking out of the quarters. No one could see them.
Zara sighed, as the cold bit into her skin but it was nothing worrying. She sighed more for the defilement she was about to put on herself. "Don’t I deserve better?"
Thales forced a smile. "So much better." Even if he didn’t think he was the better choice to be hers.
"Then why did the Moon Goddess pair me with that stupid Asher?" she ran her hands through her hair. "I deserved so much better than that mutt, for real."
Thales stifled in a laughter. "Indeed you do." His voice lowered. "The King doesn’t seem to know about the mate bond."
"Thanks to you." Zara glanced at Thales with a smile.
He quickly looked away as his heart began beating faster. What was he thinking about when he was sending someone he cared about to that King?
On the flip side, she was already dated to him so there’s almost nothing he could do. She’d either leave her whole life unhappy after refusing her mate or be with him and shape him to the man that’d be worthy of her. Not that the King was easy to shape.
In the dark night, Nero saw Thales and Lady Zara walking towards the palace. He swallowed saliva when he saw her in that dress but adverted his eyes. He made a signal to the security to let her in before she’d tongue lash him. He bowed to her as she got closer.
"Is he asleep?" she asked as she walked in.
Nero knew who she spoke and shook his head. "He’s playing chess with his guest, an official of one of the packs, Zeno."
Thales raised a brow. Zeno was still here till now? He’d have to send him away for his plan to work. But if the King had calmed down with Zeno’s influence, then was there any need to use Zara to get him to stop?
Zara saw the contemplating expression he had one his face. "If I can still turn back, do tell me please."
He forced a smile. He couldn’t be so sure anyway. That Zeno might’ve only distracted him from his goals. "Zeno has a similar motive to us but I don’t know how well he brings it up. He’s quite a slacker."
Zara rolled her eyes. Another slacker, like the King? No wonder they became fast friends. "I’d see how useful he could be before mind linking you to get him out."
Thales nodded and knocked on the door of the king’s study. He heard a hum and opened the door.
Zeno and Asher were lying on the King’s bed, stomach on the bed and legs wriggling in the air like little children, playing chess.
"Your... turn!" Asher made a move and waited for Zeno. They didn’t even notice the presence of the two that entered.
Zara’s left eye twitch when she was reminded that she had to seduce that child. It felt pedophilic because of how immature his thinking pattern was.
She slammed the door behind them and the two snapped their heads to her. Zeno’s eyes widened when he saw the Beta’s daughter and she looked really attractive in that dress. He glanced at the King who she probably came for.
Asher stared at Zara for a while before turning away with a neutral expression. "Play next, Zeno" He went on with the game. "And what do you want, Zara?"
She clenched her fists. So she made all the efforts and he only looked at her for two seconds? She mind linked Thales. "I told you I couldn’t do this! Change of plans!"
She rushed to the King before Thales could beg her to reconsider and just go along with the plan.
She pushed Zeno out of the way and played a move.
Asher frowned. "What is it now?"
"If I win. You’d have to accept one of my request." She demanded.
He shook his hand dismissively. "Not interested. Go away."
"Of course, you aren’t. You’re playing with him because he’s dumber than you and you can’t stand to get your pride trampled by me. Your mother was right, I am the brightest of both of us."
Asher stayed quiet, his eyes on Zara and weren’t looking friendly. She always mixed the quotes out of context.
He had misplaced his shoes and his mother made a joke about her being brighter, that was as kids anyway yet she spoke about it every time.
He exhaled. "Fine. Tell me what you need first."
"No, I don’t want you being scared and giving me an easy win." She huffed. "I’d tell you when I win."
She turned to Zeno and Thales. "Excuse us."
Asher sighed. Was it necessary? This girl always liked ordering his life and he just let her so she’d give him space.
He turned to Thales. "You came with her, didn’t you? Always looking for creative ways to bother me."
Thales smirked. "You compliment me."
Zeno could sense the tension between the three and slowly left the room to be away from it.
Staying in the King’s palace had been a splendid treat and he had been eaten and sleeping well.
"I’d just have a quick dinner-dinner before going to bed." He said amidst yawns.
Zara made her first move, taking the rook of the King. Asher leaned towards the board, calculating.
He slowly leaned back. He didn’t even see that the rook had been exposed for so long. Perhaps Zeno was actually dumber than Zara.
"Okay, so you are a better player than my guests. I don’t judge your guests so don’t judge mine—"
"Play already." She interrupted with an irritated tone. "I don’t need to hear you, just the sound of our pieces on the board."
He exhaled and they went on with the game in silence. Thales stood outside of the King’s study, hoping and praying to the Moon Goddess that Zara would be successful.
