Chapter 382: Do Nothing

Chapter Three Hundred-Eighty-Two – Do Nothing

Princess Laurel reached the border and Finn jumped down the roofs to open the gates for her.

Laurel noticed that they had installed a new gate that was studied and she wondered if it was to stop the lycan attacks. She faced the boy with a smile. "Good morning."

"Good morning evening, Princess." Finn replied enthusiastically, then he frowned a bit and asked. "You are not with that creepy knight today?"

The Princess chuckled. "He had his own problems." She said that even if she knew she was that problem.

Finn rasped. That Knight left his duty post to attend to his own worthless problems? He’d take a millennium there because he had a lot of problems.

"Princess, I can help you select one of your finest warriors to guide you till the weirdo comes back, if he comes back." He offered. "Just say the word."

Laurel saw the determined expression on his face. It was still quite new when others would go out of their way to make her comfortable.

If only her father had let her see this part of her Kingdom before the raid, she’d not have felt so alone while in prison.

She made a small bow to the young. "Thank you for your concern, warrior Finn, but I’d just wait for my weirdo knight to feel better. He’s actually good at what he does."

Finn’s face heated up and he rubbed his neck, resisting the smile tugging on his lips. A royalty bowing to a less important person like me was a huge honor. "He does? Oh well then, let’s hope he doesn’t slack off again."

Laurel nodded in agreement and continued to the quarters of Sir Darren. Zeldris would only return to her side when he wants her, she’d never force him.

Her expression stiffened when she heard the voice of that annoying witch, Alice. One who wanted to let Bebe die because of how inexperienced she was.

Ella sighted the Princess and abandoned Alice at the backyard. She jumped on Laurel in a hug. "Welcome!"

"Thank you, dear." Laurel hugged her back and carried her into the building, totally ignoring Alice.

"Darren!!! Princess is here!!"

Laurel had to drop Ella quickly when the little girl let out that thunderous scream. He voice was getting stronger and she had begun growing taller.

Ella ran into one of the rooms to call her father.

Laurel fell on a couch with a heavy sigh. She looked around, the chances of Frida actually being with Sir Darren would be zero so she couldn’t ask him about her.

"Did you come to ask for help again?"

The Princess jumped from the couch. "Frida?"

She was standing before her, in the flesh and unhurt. It actually made Laurel really better. She folded her hands after throwing the cloak she brought for her.

Frida caught it with on hand and stared at it quizzically.

"Where have you been?" Laurel started. You attacked the Lycan Prince and came here directly to hide? That’s very reckless and you know it. What if he had noticed it and demanded trouble with Sir Darren?"

Frida stayed quiet, looking at her.

Laurel raised a brow. "What? You don’t still see your error? Or you want to deny being the one?"

What were the chances that someone else would use her father’s cave, her father’s swords and have a grudge against Prince Sorren and Sigma? None. Only her.

The red-haired lady smirked, and came closed to Laurel. "You sound worried, your highness. Are you actually worried about what would happen to me?"

Laurel exhaled. At least she wasn’t denying it so that was problem half solved. "As you know, I am entitled to protect all members of Green Valleys, including you."

There was a spark that shown through Frida’s eyes for a second, then she scoffed. "I am old enough to take care of myself, thank you—"

"I don’t remember asking your permission." Laurel interrupted. "You should avoid that cave as those lycan brothers are now camping there. Whatever you do will affect Green Valleys and Silent River so do nothing."

Do nothing? Frida frowned at her. She could never do nothing, not when there was already almost nothing to do. "And become useless?"

"Those aren’t the same thing in this context and you know it. Many of us believe we should let go of the revenge since our enemies were also revenging. I don’t know if I can yet but right now isn’t the time."

Everything was going averagely well at the moment and anything could ruin it. If Stefan decided to destroy her people and keep her for himself, she’d be powerless to do anything. "You can find a new hobby or something."

Frida huffed. "I did and that’s what you are telling me to stop doing." She smirked. "My next new hobby might be more dangerous and might worry you."

Laurel shook her head. "As long as it’s self growth and not actively chasing trouble then I guess it’s fine."

Self growth? Not chasing trouble? Frida hummed, and took some steps back. "Guess I should go be a witch or something." She waited for the Princess’s reaction.

Laurel raised a brow. "Being a witch? But your wolf..."

"Is so useless that it could never break Beta rank." Frida said with a sigh. "I rather trade it for actual power." She returned to the hallway.

Laurel stood there with a pitiful expression. That explained why Frida couldn’t be the Beta. Her wolf couldn’t break the rank and she had to been trying.

Her brother had already broken the Beta Rank before the raid happened so their father protected him for safekeeping and abandoned Frida.

Laurel’s fists clenched. That must be why Frida was always bitter and dreaded being useless. That must also be what caused the gap between she and her brother.

That past Beta was a horrible person through and through yet his children are trying to avenge him.

"What am I thinking?" Laurel rubbed her head. "My father wasn’t the best and I still... miss him."

She sighed, returning to the seat.

Thirty minutes passed and she looked up from the book she had found lying around and gotten engrossed in. "Did no one tell Sir Darren that I am here? But Ella did, right? He’d be here soon."

She returned to her reading.

A hour later, she looked up again having heard a door closing. Sir Darren had not yet appeared. Was there something she was missing?

She left the couch and wanted to knock on the hallway door when it was opened.

"Oh, Princess Laurel?" Sir Darren looked surprised. "Did you just come in?" He walked into the living room.

Laurel sighed. "Almost two hours ago."

"Huh?" Darren snapped his head his head to her. "I was at the farm for a while but when I came back, no one told me anything."

Laurel looked outside the window and found that the backyard was locked and there was training happening inside. She frowned. That Alice.

She must’ve dragged Ella back to training so she couldn’t alert Darren well enough. Laurel rubbed her fists. Well, she just confirmed that they didn’t like each other so she’d play accordingly.

Darren noticed her actions and smiled. That Alice had also made enemies with the innocent Princess.

"You came to visit me today, alone. Zeldris is fine, right?" He shifted a chair from the table for her to seat.

Laurel sat on it and smiled at him in thanks. "He is." There was nothing more to add as she didn’t want to get to deep and spill the beans on who her mate was.

"What is happening with High Moon Kingdom and Lunaria these days?" she asked to divert.

Darren hummed and looked up as if he was thinking. "You haven’t been seeing Thales recently, right?"

Laurel’s lips parted. Truly, she hadn’t but she didn’t notice it till he mentioned it.

Something must really be going down between Lunaria and High Moon for Thales to be away.

"He left without telling me. What happened?"

"Well, we don’t also know." Darren replied.

That dropped Laurel. "What?"

"Thales is supposed to investigate the outcome. If Lunaria has shady business behind everyone’s back and still trying to attack High Moon, but no news from him. It’s too late though so we might still get response this week."

Laurel was quiet. The chances that the Lycan King had killed Thales was low, right? That King had a raw bloodlust whenever it came to Thales.

She shifted uncomfortably on her seat. Thales was a Grand witch with so may spells in his disposal so he wouldn’t let anything happen to him.

If anything, he had the Beta’s daughter Zara to protect him from that crazed King. She exhaled, and left the seat

Since she got an answer, she should head home.

"Oh, do you want to stay for cheese and meat? Ella and I will be cooking." Darren left his seat and hurried towards the backyards excitedly.

Laurel didn’t have the chance to say no and sat down on the chair again, with a smile. Who was she to say no to food?
