Her Vengeful Lycan Alpha -

Chapter 380: The Question
Chapter Three Hundred-Eighty – The Question
Zeldris had a pale and distraught expression as he walked back to Green Valleys Pack. That Alpha Stefan was the mate of his dear Princess Laurel.
He’d have slept it off at Sorren’s place if he didn’t have duties to attend to by the Princess’ side, but it felt difficult to stay by her side after learning this.
He wanted to ask her about her opinion of the Alpha but she’d either look disgusted or offended.
She was still young to understand that the further away she stayed from her mate, the more sour she’d become.
"If I think of it, she’d been quite sour lately." Zeldris forced a smile. That meant he should really help her be with her mate. To that, he’d really need help.
"Ah, Zeldris!"
Zeldris looked up and a thought came to his mind. He looked Quincy over and his smile increased.
This new information would definitely mess up with Quincy’s head but it might help him get some pointers.
Anything could mess them up, but they have to protect their beloved princess from all that madness.
Quincy came close and Zeldris wrapped his arm around his neck and pulled him to a hidden spot. Quincy immediately let go and looked down.
"Ara! Young sir, why did you take me to a hidden corner?" He said with a girly voice. He still looked really feminine with the small dress and the cloth on his waist.
Zeldris scowled and stepped away from him. This man liked being weird. He sighed, rubbing his face, and trying to mentally prepare himself to dump all he found out today on Quincy.
He should be telling this to the Princess’ confidants like Jessika and Valkyrie but they might think the Princess should ignore the Alpha or reject him.
Quincy’s expression went through a lot of emotions before settling on a straight face that had a disturbing darkness to it. He didn’t like this.
If the Alpha was the mate to the Princess and the curse still worked, then the Alpha would be killed and that’d start another chain of wars and disagreements.
The Alpha dying would also affect the Princess, no matter how unattached she may be to him. That course of action was the worst.
He sighed, placing a hand on Zeldris. They had to be realistic with this and that meant two things.
One, making sure that the Princess and the Alpha didn’t end up together to avoid the war. Two, making sure they had a happy ending by staying together.
At the moment, the Princess’ thoughts were highly needed to make the final decision and she seemed to have decided to lean towards staying away from the Alpha.
"We should talk to her about—"
"No." Zeldris stopped Quincy from leaving. His heart still felt like it was stabbed by numerous needles and he didn’t think he could face her right now.
Somewhere in his heart, he had hoped that Quincy would be against the bond to the Alpha and bring a way to sever it, but he was rather accepting.
That scattered whatever hope Zeldris had. The Princess happiness was the most important to him, so he had tried to swallow down his disappointment.
After all, an orphaned knight like him couldn’t even give her close to the happiness the Lycan Alpha would give her.
"I’d have to ask you go handle it yourself." Zeldris rubbed the back of his head with a nervous smile. "I am a bit tired and need to rest my head a bit."
Quincy studied Zeldris and exhaled. "Stop acting like a father about to give his daughter’s hand in marriage, Princess Laurel hadn’t even yet."
Was that what his relationship with the Princess felt like to Quincy? Zeldris’s nervous smile turned bitter. "I really need to rest so I’d see you later."
He didn’t wait for a reply as he marched out towards his room. Quincy watched him till he disappeared out of sight. "He likes the Princess, doesn’t he?"
Quincy had clearly noticed that but didn’t want to bring it up for Zeldris’s sake. He should just forget the Princess and find someone else.
The Princess had full control of her life now and while that Lycan Alpha shouldn’t take any part of the glory, the Moon Goddess had already planned so.
"I should let her know that I know." He smirked. "She’d be so stunned and I’d get to know what she really thinks of the Alpha. Depending on that, then I can plan."
At the hall, Laurel had finished reading all the files Stefan had given to her and was yet to see any information about a curse. She closed it and looked at a particular file that spoke of a witch living there.
That witch had nothing to do with the curse, right? It was odd for a witch to travel that far away from the rest. And she was said to have come alone.
She took the file to reread again when the door to the hall opened, she discreetly hid the files when she saw her visitor was Quincy.
She didn’t want him thinking she questioned his honestly, or to think she was looking for more about the curse because of her mate.
"Hey, how are you feeling now?"
Quincy strolled in, both hands behind his back. "Much better, until recently when I heard something terrible."
Laurel smiled. He heard something terrible and wanted to share it with her? That was very considerate of him.
"Oh, and by the way, Zeldris has returned from the Lycan Prince’s quarters but felt weak and needed to sleep, he’d be here when he feels better." Quincy added.
That felt odd to Laurel and she folded her arms. Why couldn’t Zeldris tell her that himself? Why should Quincy be his spokesman? "I hope he feels better then."
She could tell that Quincy itched to say something but left it at the tip of his tongue. "What is it? Say it."
If he had discovered that she was still researching about his tribe then he could plainly ask her why and get her answer, instead of harboring wrong feelings.
"The Prince Sorren is a really interesting fellow. I wonder if you’ve been able to break down his thoughts process." Quincy said.
Laurel paused, trying to get meaning from that. Why did he suddenly speak of Sorren? The reason Sorren did what he did might be unknown to many for ever.
For fun or for a purpose, one could barely know where each quest of his fell. "Wasn’t it Zeldris that met him? Why do you suddenly bring him up?"
"Are you two not on speaking terms with each other?"
"You make it sound like we were friends." Laurel rolled her eyes. "I had only been used during those times and had to play along so I wouldn’t die."
Quincy leaned on the wall, and gently took a cup of tea from her tray. "That Prince said something to Zeldris that made him disturbed. I am disturbed as well."
Quincy truly was. The Moon Goddess had really put them in a tight spot with the arrangement of their only heir and hope to a Lycan.
"Tell me." Laurel shifted uncomfortably in her seat. What could Sorren tell them that’d affect even Zeldris, much that he couldn’t come to tell her himself.
"Your highness." Quincy started with a low tone, he came closer so no one would hear him. "The Moon Goddess had wronged you by mating you to the Lycan Alpha, hadn’t she?"
Laurel was taken aback. She instantly looked away from Quincy, her eyes danced around while her brain thought of what she should say next.
Was it a trap that Quincy had structured that in a question format? Did he want her to deny it? Or accept it? Surely he knew it would be right since Sorren wouldn’t just lie about it.
Her eyes became focused and she hummed. "That arrangement had been the reason I’ve been working hard this whole time. I don’t want it at all."
She had sounded sure till the last part, and she hoped Quincy hadn’t notice the fall in her voice. Why would she even want him?
Was that Elma’s wish, or was that her deeper wish? She turned to Quincy who had been studying her. "Did you want to hear something different?"
Quincy shook his head. He couldn’t tell if the Princess wanted the Alpha with how her voice had darkened when she said she didn’t want him.
On the contrary, her voice might’ve darkened due to the fact that she couldn’t be with him due to the curse.
"Princess Laurel, if the curse is broken and the Alpha of Black Claws leave Green Valleys and return to High Mountains, but remain allies. If these were to happen, do you think you can forgo the past differences to be with him?"
Laurel kept her eyes on Quincy. That question was really simple yet to hard. She couldn’t forgive him whether he was her mate.
But if he redeemed himself, leave her land and the curse was gone, not being with him would only be her punishment. She might regret it later.
