Chapter 379: Her Mate
Chapter Three Hundred-Seventy-Nine – Her Mate
Sorren averted his eyes from Zeldris. He didn’t like the situation and wished he didn’t ask any question that’d have dragged to that point.
But then, this Zeldris would only be asking because he had seen traces of his brother’s affection to the Princess, that’d be the case.
He wouldn’t just bring it up for no reason so Sorren felt he could answer honestly. In a way it also felt like Zeldris knew the answer to his question and wanted confirmation.
"My brother is truly fond of the Princess. You must’ve noticed." He tried to sound like he wasn’t more involved in their relationship. "That’s why I want to know—"
"I couldn’t ask the Alpha this but I feel I could ask you now." Zeldris folded his arms, looking deep into Sorren’s eyes. "Can I ask you now?"
It made Sorren uncomfortable. He shouldn’t have even answered that question and leave it to float in the air. He could guess the possible question it’d be.
"Sure, ask me." He forced out of himself.
Zeldris cleared his throat and leaned forward, at that point, he had a menacing aura. He couldn’t believe these Lucas were so entitled.
"Do Lycans have a myth that speaks of the Moon Goddess creating them first?" he had to know for starters what made these Lycans so audacious.
Sorren gulped down nothing. He didn’t expect the question to be structured like that but he could see the sense in it.
He rubbed his head as if thinking but he’d never even read about a Lycan myth before. Werewolves were obviously the first creation of the Moon Goddess, and Lycans were created thereafter.
"We are cousins, you can just ask me directly." Sorren said with a serious expression. His brother and Laurel were fated to each other, and that’s the only reason he wanted them to work.
That’s the only reason it should work, or else if Laurel was just a normal love interest of his older brother, he’d have spanked him to normalcy.
Zeldris rested back. "Well, then, what made your older brother think that the Princess who he took important things from, her father, loved ones, and threw her in the prison, and is currently still on her land, would love him?"
’Still on her land’ didn’t sound like it should be there but Sorren left it, and looked upwards and searched for answers. He had none because again, he didn’t think they’d work if they weren’t mated to each other.
Laurel was really vengeful and she must’ve known many ways to undo his brother, but the mate bond always prevented her from doing that.
The mate bond was the only savior of everything and since it’s still active in Laurel, Sorren wanted to make she and his older brother be together before it’d fade.
He didn’t know if he should tell Zeldris this but the young man was obviously interested in the Princess’ love life and wouldn’t settle with a ’murderer’ for her.
The only way to handle it was to say the hidden secret that his brother had kept for so long for no reason. Zeldris might not like it enough to share with anyone and he might understand how helpless the situation was.
"Do you believe in the Moon Goddess?" Sorren asked.
Zeldis raised a brow. Was he trying to evade his question like that? "We all do. Why?"
Sorren nodded and rested back. "My brother is trying to as well. Princess Laurel is his mate and despite what he’d done, the mate bond didn’t vanish. Laurel might not feel it but it’s still there. Do with this what you will."
It felt like the world around Zeldris was at stand still. His beloved Princess Laurel was mated to that scornful Alpha? Did that mean that there was more to him?
Zeldris loved and believed in the Moon Goddess with all his heart but this felt so wrong and he understood why his cousin had to ask him about his belief again.
This was too random of a mate pairing.
"And he hurt her like that? He still doesn’t deserve her." Even f Zeldris said that, he could see no way to not let it happen. It’d be more hurtful if the Princess grew old alone when she had a mate.
He buried his head in his hands and Sorren patted his head. It was indeed disturbing that those two were paired together and even if they worked out, it was still a disturbing pair.
His brother was really strong and Laurel was really vengeful. Their offspring would fall kingdoms when mad. Sorren smiled to himself when he thought of that.
He poured another cup of tea for Zeldris and handed it to him. After Zeldris gulped own everything, Sorren leaned forward for a new proposal.
"You said something about we Lycans still being in the Princess’ land. I bet it must frustrate her for you to mention it." He tilted his head.
Zeldris shrugged. The Princess didn’t complain about these lycans but she really disliked Cade, that’s what they all knew.
"If your land was inhabited by those who killed it, would you be happy? And if you’re trying to propose me making the princess accept the Alpha..." Zeldris sighed.
He didn’t want to do something like that since it’d hurt him. Delusional as it may be, he wished the Princess would spend more time with him and the twins, instead of with some man.
For that man to be the lycan Alpha they collectively disliked.... Would Green Valleys Pack even bless their union? "... is something that could be beyond me." Zeldris finished.
His response didn’t sound antagonistic to Sorren so he was pleased that the young man was willing to give all these a shot.
The people would definitely be a problem but Sorren had been thinking of different ways to handle it. "If you’d make the Princess accept the mate bond, you can leave making the pack accept my brother in my own hands." Sorren assured.
He also wanted his brother’s happiness like those pack people wanted the Princess’s happiness. If those two don’t end up with each other, none of them would be happy. It was the painful truth.
