Chapter 372: Favor

Chapter Three Hundred-Seventy-Two – Favor

Laurel had woken up from sleep when she found the twins on her bed, tired but contented. She smiled. They must’ve had a lot of fun there.

She wiped their faces, cleaning the snacks that were on it. They must’ve eaten a lot too because it seemed to her that those cheeks had grown bigger since she last saw them.

She rolled out of bed and left for the bathroom to wash her face. There’s a lot she had to achieve and another visit to Alpha Stefan may be due.

He should have the information about the Yudan tribe that she had asked for. She prepared and by the time she was done, the twins had woken up.

She prepared a quick breakfast for them and sang them back to sleep, she could tell their bodies were still tired from all they did the other day.

"Zeldris?" she searched her mind link for him as she left her room. "I’d like to pay the Alpha a visit. Can you come with me?" She found him at the hall.

Zeldris was looking over some materials with Quincy. Quincy waved when he sighted Laurel and she smiled in response.

Zeldris stared at her, wondering why she needed to see that Alpha, but he was glad that she’s finally asking him to stay by her side so he didn’t question.

He’d be there with her and know what the deal’s about. "Um... Quincy, I have to take the Princess to—"

"Don’t tell him." Laurel snapped instantly in Zeldris’s mind link. She had asked information about his tribe, he might think she didn’t trust him.

The Knight paused and nodded the remaining words. Quincy didn’t realize and shrugged. "I’d handle the rest."

The Princess and the Knight left together, the weather was unusually cold that day and Laurel stared at her short sleeved dress in disappointment.

Zeldris noticed and smiled. "Do you wish for them to grow out sleeves for your sake, Princess?"

She smiled and made a small nod. No wonder she could sleep for long last night, the cold weather had relaxed her body. "I should eat something hot when I return."

Zeldris hummed. He wondered if he should take off his jacket for her to use, but his face heated at the thought.

Someone could misunderstand if his jacket was over her shoulders, but her health was most important.

He didn’t want her chattering her teeth and shivering or looking any less in front of that Alpha. Her head should always be high.

Just in front of the palace, he took off jacket and placed them over her shoulders. The palace guards raised their brows and Laurel patted him softly. "Thanks. It’s warm."

She walked in, doing her best not to look at the palace guards so none of them would faint or worse. Zeldris followed her, ignoring their stares as well.

She knocked on the Alpha’s study but received a response before she could state her business. She hoped that meant he actually had what she wanted.

"Good morning, Alpha." She made a short bow.

Stefan’s eyes tarried on Zeldris who had bowed as well. He remembered what his younger brother told him about the Knight and hoped to be nicer to the young man.

"Yes, good morning, Laurel. Is it about the research you asked?" he opened his drawer to look for the files.

Zeldris noticed the first name basis the Alpha forced on the Princess, but what stunned him was how the Alpha didn’t give him hateful glare on first eye contact like usual. What had changed since they last met?

Did it happen at the Delta’s birthday celebration? Zeldris actually preferred being hated by that Alpha since he also disliked him. He watched him bring out a file.

"I believe it’s everything to find about the people of Yudan and there’s a tale of a lost Prince and a curse he ran away from. It gets darker from there." Stefan said.

Lost Prince and Curse sounded very familiar to Laurel, she took the file. "Thank you, Alpha. I appreciate—"

"Will you do something for me in return?" Stefan rested his arms on the table.

Laurel tried not to frown. They didn’t have an agreement to repay him if he did something for her so why did he bring this up now? She’d be ready to return the file if it’s something she couldn’t do at all. "I’m all ears."

Stefan smiled and his eyes went down to her shoulders, his brows furrowed a bit when he recognized the jacket and he turned to Zeldris who had no jacket on.

"Well, I don’t know what exactly happened but I’d like you to help me repair my friendship with Marino. Would you do that?" he hoped for a favorable response.

It had really hit him hard when the boy suddenly ignored him and then his little sister gave him that look.

Laurel’s earlier annoyance faded. That’s all he wanted? She wondered why she felt a little disappointed. She nodded without putting much thought into it.

Marino was only confused and she could make him forget whatever displeased him. It wouldn’t be good for him to have a grudge at a young age. "Alright. I understand."

Her quick response made Stefan relieved. He had feared that she had something to do with Marino’s coldness but since it wasn’t the case, he felt better.

He took a fanciful bag out from his drawer and handed it to the Princess. "A little something for him—" but Zeldris took it instead and bowed.

Stefan sighed but swallowed down his words. He might never get used to this guy not being someone he disliked.

Laurel bowed and held unto the file closely. "Once again, thank you. I’d take my leave now."

"You don’t have anything else you need help with?" Stefan asked quickly.

He’d want to keep helping her, so she’d have more reasons to come see him and if possible, slowly ask for favors that’d repair what happened between them.

Laurel couldn’t think of anything else so shook her head.

She didn’t also expect him to want something in return and wouldn’t want to get in a situation that she had to do whatever he said because he helped her greatly.

She wanted to use him and not the other way around.
