Chapter 371: Confirmed
Chapter Three Hundred-Seventy-One – Confirmed
Baxter felt weakened on hearing that. The loved ones of those who were hurt would always seek revenge.
He didn’t know how to feel about it, that his young cousin had been targeted to die for killing someone’s father.
It reminded Baxter how they’re own father had been killed and how badly they had wanted to avenge that death.
Just like Valkyrie hated him and the Princess hated the Alpha, except that this Beta had a specific target that he could reach.
"Yes, sure. I’d be really careful to protect my cousin."
When the celebration was getting to an end, Sorren finally remembered what had been on the tip of his tongue to say. Finding his cousin!
He found Stefan besides Sigma and Dylan and hurried to them. "Dylan, when Sigma had been attacked by witches, you said that it was the Princess that confirmed what fire burnt him, right?"
Dylan grew sober as he remembered that incident. He wondered why the wolf suddenly asked about such a frightful day during Sigma’s celebration.
"Yes."
"She was also with an official, right?" Sorren asked immediately. "Who was the person?"
Dylan turned towards the Green Valleys officials. "Zeldris."
Sorren nodded. That Zeldris knew all that because he’s mother was a witch and it wasn’t my chance at all.
Sorren wondered if Zeldris would also know if his own mother was truly a witch.
"Thank you. A moment please." He pulled Stefan from them with hurried steps. "You remember Bebe coming to speak to us about tips to handle the witches around that time as well, right?"
Stefan nodded, wondering where he was heading to. Did that Zeldris have something to do with witches? Did the Princess that he protected know anything about that?
"I have confirmed that Zeldris is the cousin that I’m looking for and while he doesn’t seem to be a witch, he has a lot of knowledge about them."
Sorren studied his brother’s expression for a reaction.
Stefan tried to refresh his memory of every interaction he had had with Zeldris and his shoulders slumped as he remembered each one.
Why would it be that one? Why did that rude Knight have to be involved with his younger brother?
"What are your reasons for picking that one?" he asked.
That one? Sorren wondered if they were not in good terms. He explained how he realized he had roots from Damancas and that’s all he needed since he knew the person would be around the Princess currently.
The Queen of Damancas had already given him a lot of clues and it was his fault for not putting them together all the while.
Stefan tried to think of ways that it could be wrong and Zeldris was a random man, but he couldn’t think of anything. If anything he saw how it could be true.
He didn’t want to be too honest to avoid hurting his brother’s feelings. "He does have a smart mouth. It’s annoying."
Sorren could be like that too, but it’s never annoying to him because he was his little brother. "That Zeldris, eh?"
Sorren nodded. "But I don’t know what to do about it. I honestly didn’t think this far because I thought it’d take a while to find him and that he’d be searching too."
Stefan noticed the slight disappointment in his brother’s tone. That Zeldris had been searching, wasn’t he? "The blond Elder had said he asked about you..."
Stefan remembered that there’s a linkage to the boy’s mother being a witch, but at the point, witches were everywhere in their lives so he couldn’t complain.
"Princess Laurel knows we’re related but he doesn’t. I can’t tell why yet, but what will I do still? He works for the Princess and wouldn’t leave." Sorren sighed.
For a cousin he wanted to give a good life as a way to compensate for his mother abandoning them, the young man already picked a difficult life by being the Princess’s Knight.
Though it didn’t look difficult, protecting that young girl must be a hassle sometimes.
Stefan wanted to suggest uprooting him from Laurel’s side by force but swallowed down the thought, since it’s based on his dislike for the knight which Sorren wouldn’t relate to.
"Well, you have another family member. Maybe, they’d be able to help you achieve social relationships—"
"I have that." Sorren frowned.
How could he say he didn’t have social relationships? Did he ever strike him as a shy person? How’d he host a celebration if he lacked social skills?
"With only Sigma, Dylan and I. Not enough." Stefan said. He glanced at Zeldris. "He may easily speak to you since you’re not an official at Green Valleys so do your best."
Sorren scoffed. His brother sounded like he should go and appease the Knight to become his family. He could never do that, they already were family come what may.
The celebration of the Delta of Black Claws Pack came to an end and the Young Beta of Green Valleys was one of the first to depart.
When he left, Sorren tried looking for Zeldris to speak to him but was informed that he had gone earlier, leaving the children with the young Beta who recently left.
"If you want, I’d send him here to talk to you." Stefan offered, even if he had his own personal reasons.
He wouldn’t want his brother to get fond of that Zeldris but he knew he couldn’t help it as they both shared blood.
So if that knight was away from Laurel, then he’d be able to speak to her as well. "Probably this evening."
Sorren thought about it and nodded. He bid his brother farewell and faced the maidens immediately.
.They’d have to clear everywhere and be done with it, so he that he could visit Green Valleys with a peace of mind.
He wondered if his mother would’ve cared about her nephew, he also wondered if by any chance, Zeldris knew what she had been running away from.
