Chapter Three Hundred-Sixty-Six – Short-Tempered
"Frida?" Princess Laurel stood before the cave. There was no response and it bothered her. "It’s Princess Laurel. I’d like to speak to you about something."
Frida was supposed to be with Sir Darren but this cave also seemed like a likely spot she’d stay at since Sir Darren mentioned that he didn’t know how whereabouts.
She carefully walked in, looking at the sides to see if it was about to collapse. She got to the middle and found a big space that reeked of dead bodies.
If this was the place Frida set a trap for the Lead Warrior, then those bodied could be the rogues that got killed
"Nothing to worry about then. She’s still safe—" Laurel glanced at an opening. What was he doing at this place?
She thought of running back but just as she caught his scent, he probably caught hers too.
She looked around the cave and noticed a sword that resembled the ones the Young Beta had. It was rusty with a fresh stain of blood. Frida had definitely been here.
Laurel held the sword to her chest and sheathed it with a scabbard she saw lying around. "Prince Sorren? I wonder what you are doing here—"
"Can I ask you the same—"
"Don’t dare interrupt me!" Laurel snapped.
Her eyes went to his hands hidden behind his sleeve. She could smell the blood. She had a bloody sword in her hands. Could he have met Frida here and hurt her?
Why should he? She’s trying to get revenge for the loss his brother and son caused so why did he do more?
These lycans infuriated her with their inconsideration and she wanted them to disappear.
"This cave is part of Green Valleys’ property and I think some rogues have been living in it recently." Laurel said. "So tell me, what are you doing outside High Mountains?"
Sorren looked around the cave and still kept his guard up in case of another surprise attack. He took out his hand from behind him and there was a gash besides his wrist.
He noticed Laurel look relieved when she saw that. How dare she looked relieved when he was bleeding?
"Are you still going on and on about how this pack is your property when you aren’t even the Alpha?"
She had accepted that role so his words did nothing to her, the only part that upset her was he making it sound like Green Valleys wasn’t still her land.
"Green Valleys is still Green—"
"Green Valleys, High Mountains and Silent River were taken by my older brother, if you hadn’t been his mate, Green Valleys would’ve been renamed and rearranged."
Laurel’s fists clenched. Sorren wasn’t so stupid to want to rile her up, could they be some truth in what he said? Alpha Stefan didn’t have a contract with them or it’d be one of subjugation or alliance.
It just seemed like he allowed Green Valleys to exist because of all the benefits he could get from it.
However Green Valleys wasn’t ruled by her but the Alpha, Stefan. Truly, in a reasonable setting, the Alpha was the leader and a leader that wasn’t an Alpha didn’t have equal rights to the pack.
Was that what Sorren meant?
"You say that and I think of setting up an army to defend us and retake our pack that wasn’t totally yours...." Laurel raised a brow. "You get me, right?"
Sorren had a look of disappointment. Was there a reason she had an argument for everything?
It was his best advice for Laurel at the time, yet she had thought straight to a war. "You think like your father if you jump to war like that."
Laurel reflected on that with no comment. She was like her father? It sounded a bit like a compliment.
"And if you want to know what I’m doing here, it’s that I chased a cladded figure from High Mountains to this place, a typical nowhere or a cave for sluts but nothing."
Cave of sluts? That escalated quickly. Why would he think that? What brought sluts and an cladded figure that escaped together? "That isn’t an insult to me, is it?"
Sorren frowned. "It’s not."
He wondered why she was uptight since the last time they spoke and why everything he said ended up with a defensive reply. "You are feeling alright, right?"
Laurel instinctively touched her forehead. It was a normal temperature. What was this lycan saying? She felt her wolf coming to the surface and prepared for a scolding.
"I am feeling okay." She sighed.
It felt like Elma stayed away most of the time because of how much she changed, but Laurel wanted to believe it’s a good change.
"It’s not really a good change if you become short fused with people you don’t like. Speak politely, you are before a Prince." Elma reminded.
Laurel ignored her words but straightened up her dress. Sorren wasn’t someone who took in words so she didn’t have to worry about that.
Frida had escaped when she noticed that it was powerful lycan that chased her. Laurel didn’t know the next course of action she’d take if the girl appeared before them now?
She backed Sorren. "Well, let me be on my way." She didn’t want Sorren to be direct and ask about his problem or about his cousin brother.
Sorren let her leave and quietly followed her. The attacks that came before when he entered for a long time had stopped, the person didn’t want to hurt Laurel.
Also earlier, he had heard the princess yelling someone’s name. He couldn’t guess who it was but the Princess definitely thought that they lived there.
The sword she held was the one the escaped cladded lady had used to injure him. Why did Princess hold unto into the sword if she didn’t know the owner?
Sigma’s birthday was coming and Sorren didn’t want any issues that would frustrate the event.
