Chapter 364: Out Of Pity

Chapter Three Hundred-Sixty-Four – Out Of Pity

Laurel calmly sipped from her glass of milk as she awaited the Elder’s reply. The Elder should know they weren’t family and their interest was all that mattered.

Extending the business to Damancas would be in their best interest as many of Damancas’s citizens were getting really fond of the products that came from Green Valleys, especially the handmade objects and utensils.

Lia couldn’t keep doing all and she added molding ceramic vases to her business. While Damancas had their eyes on them, Laurel wanted to expand the business and get as much profit as possible.

Rolling Stones had a unique way of making their weapons of good quality that there wouldn’t want her to know about whether she’s their family or not.

In that case, they’d have to work extra hard for it.

There’s only two ways it could happen but the last and least possible way would be refusing to work with Damancas, thereby ridding themselves of the benefits.

Laurel already planned to bring the contract rules into play no matter how harsh it’d be. She needed to grow Green Valleys so she might be a little hard.

Rolling Stones would also benefit and after the contract of subjugation was dissolved, they might be able to get an alliance with Damancas.

The Elders shared the same thoughts as the princess and could clearly see how the business would help her pack and improve their relationship with Damancas.

The safest response would be accepting help from Green Valleys because truly, the workers at Rolling Stones couldn’t continue, but the Elder didn’t say that.

If she let anyone figure out their secret to their amazing weapon making, they’d lose their usefulness in the midst of the other big packs. "The workers will work harder."

Laurel was disappointed by that answer but she didn’t show it. "That’s good to hear. I’d leave to draft the contract. My Lead Warrior will bring details about it later." She dropped the glass of milk. "Thank you, Elder."

Laurel wondered if she’d still think of her as the sweet Moon Goddess after this but the Elder smiled warmly. "Thank you for thinking of ways to improve our pack."

It caught Laurel off-guard and she bowed as a response. Did the Elder not hear anything? In as much as the offer helped Rolling Stones’, it’d had been laced in threats.

She exhaled in relief.

Maybe the Elder was too caught up in thinking that she was the Moon Goddess so she focused on the positive things. They left the pack afterwards.

Baxter inclined his ears to hear if the Princess would speak about what she did at the pack but she spoke about cute dresses that certain twins would wear.

The Lead Warrior immediately remembered his cousins birthday would be in two days and wondered if that’s the occasion she planned to celebrate.

"Princess Laurel, I hadn’t had time to formally thank you for saving my cousin’s life during that witch attack. Dylan had told me." He said, butting into their conversation.

Laurel frowned a bit then it released. Since that time, Sigma had been falling ill really easily and it didn’t seem like karma anymore. His body didn’t like magic.

Thinking of magic, Laurel wondered where Thales had been since they returned from High Moon Kingdom and it had begun to bother her.

"It was nothing. My Knight had been the one who figured out that his body was attacked by magical flames. We only did our best to keep him alive. Nothing else." She said.

Baxter hummed, then smiled. "I’m grateful."

He had never heard about the Knight of the Princess being amongst the help his cousin had received. Maybe the Knight wasn’t as bad as he seemed.

Also, Baxter had seen him carrying some little children around and they all seem happy together. Perhaps, the Knight’s snarky attitude only showed with the Alpha.

It’d probably be because he didn’t like the Alpha, for obvious reasons. He should do well to thank the knight for his cousin’s sake and fester good relationship.

Baxter returned to his quarters when they reached Green Valleys and Lead Warrior Valkyrie stayed at the gate to encourage the warriors.

Laurel went straight for Lisa’s quarters and informed Lia of the progress and asked for detailed information about the kind of weapons mostly used at Damancas.

Then she left for home, after buying some sweet fruits that were being sold that season. She remembered eating some of them with Lena few months before her birthday.

"I guess it’s almost a year already. In two or three months, isn’t it?" she exhaled. Not much had happened to her physical body but her mental health had nosedived.

For Sigma’s birthday, she had to send representatives and that’d be the young Beta and Zeldris along with the twins.

They’ve never been to a Grand ball with lots of food and pretty things so she wanted them to experience it. She could trust them with Zeldris so he’d have to go as well.

She walked towards the kitchen to deliver something Jessika had asked her to drop. It seemed they still needed her help from time to time.

"Princess Laurel?"

She stopped and turned to the caller. So he’s finally back from being babysitted by Prince Sorren? Well, that’d be bad for Frida and her young Beta’s plans.

"Hey, Sigma, do you feel better?" she asked, looking at his stomach. Thales said something about a wrong flow of energy pulling there. "You should eat less too."

She had added that part because of his stomach slightly protruding. "A sixteen year old has nothing to do with a protruding stomach. You can definitely do better."

Not only did it not fit him but it contrasted with his muscular body. Sorren should know when to stop spoiling.

Sigma scoffed and patted his stomach. "I’d be seventeen soon, in fact, I already am." He looked her over and said. "A nineteen year old should have better features too."

That was definitely a stab to Laurel and she felt like throwing all she had to jump on him.

Why did he attack her like that? She spoke out of concern for him! Didn’t he want to be in good shape for his birthday celebration?
