Chapter 363: The Moon
Chapter Three Hundred-Sixty-Three – The Moon Goddess
The Rolling Stones’ Elder hurried out of her house when some youngsters told her that the Princess of Green Valleys had arrived to see them.
The old lady ran out with joy and hurried to two young warriors talking and pulled them along. They sighed tiredly but went along with her antics.
Younger ladies that saw this could only roll their eyes while murmuring about how impartial the Elder became.
Laurel sighted the old lady from far and her smile dropped, why did the old lady find it compulsory to introduce her young warriors to her?
If she needed a husband, she could find one at Green Valleys or at Silent River where she could trust the men to have respect towards her and support her role.
However, the Elder didn’t understand this because of a story that described the Moon Goddess as young, fair, with long black hair and green eyes filled with kindness.
Laurel couldn’t tell how she fit those descriptions apart from her green eyes and black hair, the adjectives felt so surreal to be about her, yet here she was.
The Elder must think one of her pack members marrying the ’Moon Goddess’ would bring blessings to her pack and while that wouldn’t be wrong, it could only bring blessings when she’s the actual moon goddess or a close incarnate.
Laurel didn’t complain much since Bebe once mentioned to her how Rolling Stones Pack were against her because she surrendered to the Lycans.
Alpha Stefan had to make an example before they could drop it, so the princess was glad they accepted her. She forced a smile when the Elder came close. "Greetings—"
"We’re like family, no need for those greetings." The Elders waved dismissively. "This one is Esan and this one is Yallen. Greet the Princess." She said the last part to the young warriors who bowed their heads.
Calling her a family made Laurel want to laugh but she held it in. So much for family if they had to have a trade agreement before they made weapons for her.
Laurel studied the warriors out of curiosity. One of them was tall and muscular with a tanned skin that showed he stayed hunting under the sun a lot.
To Laurel, a typical muscle head, but he’d be capable and providing. The other had a leaner body and paler skin, his hands were roughened and had charcoal on it which might mean he worked with the weapon productions.
Both capable men but she didn’t have a type yet, probably a pretty man that’s also a gentleman. If she dared say, Zeno, in terms of appearance and carriage.
She stopped her thoughts when she realized she delayed to answer. "Thank you and nice to meet you, Esan, Yallen. Elder, I’d like to speak with you privately, please."
The sudden change of topic after they’ve been standing there for her to see them, made the young warriors scowl. She didn’t even say anything about them.
The Elder nodded at the Princess and shooed the young warriors away, wearing a big smile. Laurel couldn’t help but smile back.
The Princess and the two Lead Warriors were led to her small slightly cramped house. "Do you want me to serve your something? Milk?"
As the Elder asked, she already served them warm milk from a mug and hurried out to bring snacks. Laurel watched her and wondered if she’d be the same as her grandmother that died early.
But the Elder looked older so Laurel brushed the thought away. A werewolf’s age didn’t show l their appearance.
The Elders returned with snacks on a plate, then sat down opposite her guests. "Now, what brought you here?"
The Princess expression became serious. "I’d like to ask how production of the weapons are going. I want to propose a business that’d move the section faster."
The Elder hummed, being careful on her next words. She couldn’t just agree because lately, the weapon productions had slowed down as there weren’t many hands on deck.
During their Pack’s decline, and with the absence of their Alpha, rogues had attacked and took a toll of them. They lost food, medicine and lost manpower in those brawls.
The weapon production did okay as they only exported to few packs, but with the tone of the Princess, she wanted to take it up a notch and they might not be able to deliver.
"I don’t think the workers can work so much anymore." She said honestly. "But I am open to the proposal, let’s see how it works."
Laurel leaned back. "The workers are the only problem? If so, I could ask my warriors to assist with the production. I hope to extend the trade to Damancas while we are contracted by subjugation. Your pack will gain immensely."
The Elders gulped saliva and looked down. This Princess really looked fiercer than she appeared. "I-I see."
Baxter blinked numerously, stunned by the request of the princess. He was seeing her in her devour mode and it actually creeped him out.
Anyone would think her offer was purely out of the interest of Rolling Stones but there were many threats and uncertainties laid underneath.
Suggesting that her warriors would help was the worst part because that’d mean they’d learn the secret used to make those weapons and wouldn’t need Rolling Stones.
A subtle threatening way of telling the Elder to find the help she needed or her role would be taken from her.
The Princess also subtly reminded of their subjugation contract and her ties to Damancas that might mean good or bad for Rolling Stones Pack.
All in all the Princess had just calmly told the Elder to increase production so she could sell more while she could still make use of them.
Of course, Rolling Stones wouldn’t lose as they’d gain profit that’d make them slowly become independent that they wouldn’t need her, and she wouldn’t use them.
Baxter felt truly impressed by how the Princess laid these threats with simple words and waited for a successful reply, because there’s no way the Elder could escape.
