Chapter Three Hundred-Sixty-One – Marry Another
At least, this breakdown was in her room and not in front of anyone, Laurel felt like she could keep her head high because of this. No one saw the mess she was yesterday.
Zeldris had returned with the twins when she already fell asleep so they were adequate therapy for her.
The fact that she wouldn’t be able to have kids weighed on her but she reached a good conclusion. Have kids with someone else that wasn’t her mate.
It’s not like she could end up with a Stefan anyway with all the dislike she felt for him and how twisted their worlds were, it’d be better to give up on each other.
"Crying is quite refreshing though." Laurel confessed. She sat on a dining table with the twins and they raised their heads to stare at her questioningly.
"Princess is crying?" Marino asked, studying her face to look for the tears, he already had a worried expression.
Laurel shook her head while wearing a smile. She didn’t want to bother them, especially as she had found a way to make it work and that’s by marrying someone else.
Stefan should really give up on them working because it’d never be anymore or he’d be asking for his death. With the way things were, if he married her, get a child with her and then die, his pack would think she did it.
"Marino, Mira, what do you think about Princess getting married?" she asked to tease them. She had no intentions of that at her young age, till three to four years from now.
The twins understood marriage but didn’t understand what it meant and the concept it involved so they stayed quiet with slightly agreeable expressions.
Laurel finished her food and left them on the dining table. With thoughts about Stefan out of the way, she could fully concentrate on her job as leader of Green Valleys.
She met Zeldris outside and pointed towards the dining table. "Jessika brought a meal for you. Eat with them."
He frowned slightly. "You are going out, aren’t you? Shouldn’t I leave with you?" She always forgot him.
But the princess gave him a thumps up. "Don’t worry, I’m going to pay Rolling Stones a visit, with Valkyrie and Bebe. Just eat and stay with the twins."
Zeldris sighed and left.
Laurel made sure he was gone before exhaling. Her priority had shifted to the safety of those twins because they were becoming more noticed.
A maid had said she saw Lady Cara speaking to Little Mira and the girl looked scared. She needed to protect the little angels or Lena and Marcus would never forgive her.
Their older brother, Matt, still did his best as an apprentice so she had to do her own best.
She met Valkyrie standing at the gate, waiting for her. Laurel noticed she had a dagger on a knee pocket. Her Lead Warrior must’ve been training hard.
"Hey." She pinched her cheeks slightly.
Valkyrie smiled at the gesture but her smile disappeared the moment she left the gate and she wore a serious face.
Laurel noticed she usually had that face when outside, it’d probably be because her warriors were mainly young boys who could dare being flirty with her.
With that look, they’d know immediately that she wasn’t to be messed with. As they walked towards the young Beta’s quarters to get Bebe, Lead Warrior Baxter appeared.
Valkyrie instinctively stepped forward to protect the Princess before calming down.
That reaction broke Baxter, but he brushed it off and forced a smile. "Are you pretty ladies going on a stroll? Well, I’m off duty this morning so can I join—"
"You know my answer would be ’no’, so start with the truth that you have something to discuss." Laurel interjected with a mocking expression.
Laurel decided to leave Bebe behind and continue to Rolling Stones’ Pack, being only three, as any more and they’d not look like they came to bully the pack.
It’d be good to go with Bebe to remind the people that she was their star but it could be another time.
Baxter chuckled nervously and followed them when they started moving away. "My cousin’s birthday is in two days and he’s excited about it, so I don’t want anything to go—"
"To go wrong? Will that be Green Valleys’ fault then?" Laurel asked. "I only stared at your warrior angrily. I didn’t touch him, is he a chicken or was he ill that day?"
Baxter slowed down his steps. The guards that reported had really said that she only stared at him, without any contact. It should be that the guard was sick.
But then again, the guards that he sent to protect the palace weren’t careless to take a position that they couldn’t handle. Baxter still decided to let it go.
"The Princess cleared it up. Is there a reason you’re still following us?" Valkyrie held him back as she asked.
Baxter gazed into her brown eyes but only slight disgust and controlled anger reflected from them and it made his heart ache greatly. He pulled his hand from her hold.
"I-I understand, but I got my answer and just want to visit Rolling Stones Pack, as well. There’s nothing... to it." He didn’t like how her eyes became slanted like a dragon’s.
That meant she’d be watching him closely because she seemed him a threat to her Princess. Baxter couldn’t fathom how he ever became that dangerous to her.
However, the longer he stayed at Green Valleys, the more he saw difference in status of the lycan warriors compared to the werewolf warriors, even at Black Claws.
The lycan warriors always had a better position, mainly because they achieved more with their strength than the werewolf warriors. Lycans didn’t accept it but they were truly ruled and judged by strength.
"That’s why werewolves try to be knowledgeable to have some upper hand." he mouthed to himself and smiled.
The difference between them had been predestined since their creation so there’s nothing to be done.
