Chapter 360: Replaced?

Chapter Three Hundred-Sixty – Replaced?

Zara froze and dropped her leg from where she’d hung them. She threw her leg in the air, trying to perfect her roundhouse kick. Why she hated the King so much?

"Do I need to have a reason to hate someone selfish and acts the way he does? No maturity in his bones, at all."

Maturity? Slime hummed. He’d never expected the King to be mature and he really liked how he’d happy moments. Why did Lady Cara want the King to be mature?

Some said the King never grew up from his young self when his mother died so he didn’t act like an adult at all.

"Well, do you not hate him?" he turned to her.

Lady Zara stared at him with a darkened gaze. Saying she did not hate him would mean she liked him but her feelings were she generally didn’t care enough to know.

"It shouldn’t matter to you but if you’re so curious, I expected more maturity and accountability from that lycan. Also, the way he abuses others irks me." Zara said plainly.

Slime left the ground and gently massaged his legs that were numb. If the Delta didn’t hate the King then she’d still be loyal to him and there’s nothing to be worried about.

A servant rushed in at that point and looked around for someone, before rushing out. "Wait!" the servant paused and turned to Lady Zara that called. "What do you want?"

"Someone said they saw Thales around High Moon few hours ago. I thought he was with you..." the servant trailed off when Lady Zara marched towards him hurriedly.

Slime watched her leave with anticipation and he wondered who Thales was that she ditched him for.

He remembered the King saying that Lady Zara was only nineteen, that’d mean as the children of the Alpha and the Beta, they would’ve grown up together and be friends.

What had divided them so much that their relationship stood between the lines of ’hate’ and ’no hate’? He might never know but he surely knew it laid within Lady Zara.

From what he knew, the King didn’t detest her as much as she did him so she’s the one who changed, not him.

"Should I go to my room and we’d continue later?" he asked when Lady Zara returned and rushed to change out of her training clothes.

"Go! Go! I’d be back soon."

Slime nodded and went to the opposite room to change out of his own clothes. He left the training hall when he was done and headed straight for the King’s palace.

It’s been a while he’d spoken at length with him and then he heard whispers about Lunaria finding about his lab experiments and he had to stop for a while.

The King must be incomparable bored and it hurt Slime just thinking about it. He reached the King’s palace but the doors were locked. He stood there, expectantly.

"State your name and purpose— oh."

Slime turned to Nero at the window and waved. The palace door slowly opened and Slime hurriedly got in. "Is there something we are doing around here?"

"We?" Nero raised a brow. "You don’t stay here anymore or don’t you like the Lady’s quarters?" he teased.

Slime pouted. Had they abandoned him because he left for a little bit? "I-I’m still with the King, I just left to train a bit. What, Nero? We’re no longer friends? You hate me?"

Nero sighed, the boy really took things a tad bit further than it actually was, and he couldn’t blame him since he grew up with a lot of negative people.

Having attachment issues should be the least of the disorders he had. He gestured for Slime to calm down and pulled him to a hug.

"Actually, the King had been quite bitey since you left. My sister and I had to pay for it. Even the Green Valleys’ Princess actually. He got lonely."

Slime’s heart grew heavier. What had he done? He had made the King lonely and so he did wrong things.

Could the case with Lunaria be one of the things that the King got into because he was lonely?

Then it was also his fault that their great Kingdom nearly went into war with a powerful Kingdom?

Nero noticed Slime sobbing on his shoulders but couldn’t place why and rubbed his back. "It’s fine now though. The King found a long stay visitor."

Slime detached from Nero and frowned. "What visitor? With the King?" Since when can the King make friends?

Nero nodded and pointed at the King’s room, but before he could explain further, Slime ran towards the room.

The King had a visitor that he could take to his room? Didn’t that mean that the King had replaced him with another?

"Your highness!" he barged into the room. His expression changed when he saw no one but the King laid on his bed without a shirt, sleeping peacefully.

He definitely didn’t look like he’d been traumatized by the absence of someone so did he really replace him? Slime furrowed his brows and tiptoed into the room.

He tried his best not to make any sounds that could wake the King as its rare for him to be asleep so soundly. He searched around and there was really no sign of anyone.

Slime checked in the bathroom, closet, and the smaller rooms and there was really no one with the King.

Did he not understand what Nero said?

"Zara let you visit today?"

Slime turned to the King, excitedly and nodded. "Yes!"

Asher stared at him with sleepy eyes then looked away, he tapped his bed. "Head. And why were you shouting?"

Slime beamed and knelt besides the King’s bed, keeping his head on the bed. The King must still need him.

Asher patted it lightly with his eyes slowly closing. "Is she teaching you anything or using you for a punch bag?"

Slime thought it’d be more of a ’kicking bag’ but the Delta hadn’t attacked him without telling first or if they weren’t training. "She isn’t. I think I’m getting stronger."

Her methods were quite different from the King’s but also effective, though Slime would complain that they weren’t as painful or surprising so no excitement for him.

Asher’s breathing slowed down as he fell into sleep. "Don’t leave till I wake up." He mumbled.

Slime nodded firmly.
