Chapter 355: The Princess’s Head
Chapter Three Hundred-Fifty-Five – The Princess’s Husband
Stefan wondered why this Lady kept popping up in his study like she shared it with him. The first time, an official of the Princess was here and now again.
What if they assumed there’s something between he and Cara and tell that to their Princess?
Stefan paused, and also wondered why he worried what his mate would think of him with other ladies? It’s not like he’d be cheating on her when they weren’t a thing.
"You would, idiot! You would!" Kai yelled on his head. "She’s our mate and the only one we ever need, you keep making wrong decisions!"
Stefan couldn’t fully agree because he didn’t want anyone else but her, but she definitely had others but him.
"Whose fault is that!!"
Stefan closed his ears due to Kai’s screams, even if the wolf spoke in his consciousness. What a situation he’d fallen into to give loyalty to one who wasn’t loyal.
But he was quite accustomed to such situations as he had a brother that didn’t act like he care for him but did.
"Cara, I shouldn’t repeat myself."
Cara snapped from her daze and dragged her eyes away from the red-haired young man. "I spoke to the princess about training her warriors but she turned me down."
The red haired young man turned to her. "I am Delta Escanor of Green Valleys, and indeed, we already have that in progress." He said with a small smile.
Cara’s heart skipped a beat and she looked away, cursing herself for feelings things for a werewolf. Was she now like her brother who harbored feelings for that cook?
She always mocked him for it and he denied it. Was she in such a situation now? She held her chest and walked out of the study without answering the Alpha’s question.
She couldn’t fall in love with someone on first meeting! She wasn’t that easy. Also, he’s the Delta of Green Valleys, wasn’t he?
He looked like those children, could he be the Princess’s husband? On Impulse, she returned to the study just when Stefan wanted to ask the Delta a question.
"Are your Princess Laurel’s husband?" she asked.
Stefan frowned at her intrusion then realized what she asked, he turned to the Delta and narrowed his eyes at him. Why did he have a blushed face?
Cara’s beating heart quickened when the Delta didn’t answer and looked like he’d been caught in an act. So the Princess clowned her husband as her Delta? Epic.
The Lady stormed out of the study clenching one hand and putting the other over her beating chest.
Escanor snapped from his thoughts and shook his head. "Where did such a question come from? Of course not."
Stefan exhaled. He knew there was no way Laurel had already married and it was valid to be stunned by such a question if he felt attracted to the princess.
Why did Cara even care to know? Did she see those children and wonder who Laurel’s husband would be because she called them hers?
He understood how the Escanor would be a worthy fit because of his hair color but they looked nothing alike, he and those kids. "Ignore her, please."
Escanor faced the Alpha and nodded. "You called, Sir."
Stefan appreciated his polite tone and compared it to that Zeldris, so much difference.
"Yes, I am aware that Quincy is a guest of the Princess from the West. You are an official to the Princess, aren’t you? How well do you know this stranger?"
Escanor paused to think of all the information he knew about him but there was barely anything. At the moment, Quincy was injured so he couldn’t ask.
He slowly shook his head. "He followed them from the travels the Princess left for recently. Zeldris and Thales seem to be okay with him, so I am, as well."
He wondered why the Alpha would care and if it could be because Quincy scolded him. Escanor didn’t think he’d want to punish him for it but he wouldn’t be surprised.
"You should protect your pack from strange people who show up in the Princess’s life from nowhere. Do you know what he wants?" Stefan tilted his head.
Escanor’s mind went far and wide but came to one conclusion. They really didn’t know what Quincy wanted.
"The Princess trusts him and not even the Beta has questioned his presence, I guess I should be more conscious of him since nobody else is."
Stefan smirked. That’s all he wanted. Someone who’d really put an eye on that Quincy and ascertain that he didn’t have any ulterior motive.
While Green Valleys was under Black Claws and the Princess was in prison, the only visitor who came with the intention to help her was Sir Darren.
Sir Darren turned out to be someone who didn’t know her very well but had compassion towards her. Why didn’t her tribe members help her during those times?
Why did they only show up when she’d recovered the pack, gained alliances and pulling her own weight? It was highly suspicious and Quincy would know it.
"You should do that. You are not from here so you shouldn’t accept every new thing. Stay grounded." Stefan informed, with a serious expression.
It annoyed him to have to put the safety of his mate in another’s hand but that’s all he could manage.
Escanor nodded and made a short bow.
Stefan waved for him to leave and he left. This was one official that was easy to talk to, too easy in fact.
Escanor left the Alpha’s study and returned to the Lead Warrior’s quarters, he wondered if he should tell Zeldris what he heard so they’d be careful together.
The Princess tapped his shoulders and he jolted on seeing her behind him. "Princess, do you need any—"
"Escanor." she called him with a serious tone. "Everything and anything the Alpha just said to you, throw it away."
"Throw it away?" he repeated. The Alpha had only spoken for her safety and how the stranger could be a harm to them and that wasn’t wrong in any way.
He gulped down saliva. Where they that unimportant or she didn’t see the threat Quincy could be?
