Chapter 352: Little Girl
Chapter Three Hundred-Fifty-Two – Little Girl
Lady Cara waltzed into the Lead Warrior’s quarters without a care in the world. She remembered the last time she came and how she had felt while running away.
She hoped to not see that handsome rude wolf again, but her luck ran out when Zeldris walked into the quarters. He paused, staring at her.
Cara hoped he could see through her, she bent her head in anticipated shame. "Oh, hello—"
"You are the sister of Beta Cade, aren’t you?" he asked.
She couldn’t help but hear the displeasure in his voice. These people didn’t like her brother much but that didn’t mean it should he transferred to her.
Actually, she could see how it could be transferred to her as she’s also a Lycan living off them but she didn’t want to care. "Yes, I am. Is there a problem with that?"
Zeldis clicked his tongue and looked away. If the Beta wanted to apologize for what he did to Quincy, couldn’t he had done it himself? Such proud lycans.
"There’s no problem." Zeldris replied. "I only wanted to know if you’re the older sister I hear about or his mother? You two looked alike." He said before leaving.
Cara’s legs rooted to the ground. Old sister? Mother? Did she really look so much older than her older twin brother? She held her face worriedly and kept her head lowered. "I should leave here. This people hate us."
She didn’t want to believe that she looked old because no matter how much the warriors didn’t like her, they’d never fawn over her if she’s ugly just to make fun of her.
That werewolf only berated her to make her feel bad about herself. She didn’t feel like training them anymore. They could rot in their weakness for all she cared.
As she tried to leave, she sighted the Princess running out of a room. She entered the hall, and a smaller boy ran behind her, laughing.
Cara had never seen those children before, surely the Princess didn’t have kids. The boy had bouncy red hair and soft round cheeks that were squishy.
She closed her eyes and tried to resist. The boy had ran along with the Princess so there’s no need to follow them. She stood at the entrance, contemplating.
Another small child with red hair peeked out of the room the Princess and the boy had run out from. Cara’s eyes widened. Another one? She hurried towards her.
"Hey, what’s your name—" she paused when the girl stared at her fearfully. She’d been smiling seconds ago but the moment she saw her, she became pale?
Cara moved back. Was that how children reacted to people they didn’t know? They’d be surprised but to be fearful felt like a stretch.
"My name is Cara." She tried to continue the conversation but the girl only took more steps backwards, while looking behind Cara hoping for help to come.
Cara’s eyes dimmed. This little girl disliked her for being a lycan? She wouldn’t know what happened between the lycans and the wolves in this pack so her emotions were taught to her. "Is that Princess your mother?" she asked.
The girl’s eyes brightened up on hearing ’Princess’. Cara guessed she wouldn’t be their mother as they should recognize her as ’mother’ not ’princess’.
The Princess didn’t also have any red-haired man around her that’d give birth to those children and Cara didn’t think that Princess was pretty enough to be their mother.
They didn’t inherit any of her features either. She should be lucky to be seen playing around them.
Cara reached for the girl’s face that looked cute and squishy and a small smile came to her face. "Wouldn’t you call me Cara?" she asked as she rubbed her face.
The little girl let her touch her face but replied by shaking her head. It wasn’t the response Cara wanted but she’s glad the girl didn’t look at her fearfully anymore.
When she bent down to rub her head, the girl suddenly left her seat and ran off, into the hall the Princess and the boy had run into. Cara frowned.
"Seriously, what’s wrong with these people?" she tried to follow her into the hall but remembered how territorial that Princess could be and stayed out.
She turned around and left the Lead Warrior’s quarters, it’d be so much easier if it’s the Alpha or Prince Sorren that she asked to give her permission to train here.
The princess wouldn’t give her the time of day if it’s by her own will that she came. Lady Cara marched straight for the Alpha’s study.
Her brother had told her how he had been gloomy since he arrived and how Delta Sigma had an incident back at High Moon Kingdom.
She couldn’t help the Alpha’s mood but if she tells him that she wanted to help the people of Green Valleys to be stronger, then he might not mind.
She strolled into the palace confidently, ignoring the looks the warriors gave her. At first, she couldn’t sense the Alpha’s presence within the study and wondered if he left.
Before she left, she sensed it and quickly ran into the study in case he’s planning to leave. "Alpha, can I—"
She paused, staring at his bare body.
Stefan sighed, while wiping the stain that poured on his shirt. His sigh was in disappointment at himself as he couldn’t concentrate enough to hide his scent for five minutes.
Being a leader while chasing a prospective romantic partner was not for the faint hearted. "Do you need something, Cara?"
She swallowed down saliva and nodded, he didn’t see her and kept on wiping the clothes. His arm muscles budged as he added pressure to the stain and Cara’s eyes followed them religiously.
It took the Alpha a minute to realize she didn’t answer his question and was still in the room. Did she hide her scent too? Or he couldn’t sense it because he’s still thinking of the notices on his table?
"Stop looking at me like that, Cara." He called her out with a sigh. "What do you want from me?"
His voice snapped her from her delusions and she blurted out the first thing on her mind. "Um... Princess Laurel?"
Stefan froze, then his eyes darkened on her. "Why do you want Princess Laurel, Cara?"
