Chapter Three Hundred-Forty-Eight – Blackout
(High Mountains)
Sigma gulped down the soup and winced because of how bitter it tasted. He grabbed a handful of sweets and tossed them in his mouth. He drank it down with water.
He left the couch to go out but his legs was held back. He looked down at Prince Sorren reading on the ground, besides the couch. "I want to... um... go to the garden."
"Rest." Sorren said and pulled him back. "The garden would always be there for you to see when you’re better."
The Delta sighed and fell back on his seat. He hated that he’d been falling sick all the time with no reason. The worst part was doing nothing but eating and sleeping.
He liked those but they’d become compulsory for him and he just wanted to return to Green Valleys and do his Delta work. He also missed talking with Dylan.
"Prince Sorren, is it possible magic isn’t good for my body? Dylan said something like that once." He spoke while looking up at the ceiling.
Why was his own case different than others? If he only touched magical items to be affected like that, then he’d be in a lot of trouble if they catch him alone.
Anyone could wield a magical item and try to attack him. Did that mean he’d be powerless amongst them after all his training? Or does he just have to turn the fight to a fist fight he could win? "Magic is becoming rampant too."
Anyone could have it now, even some random at Lunaria.
"There’s someone coming." Sorren looked up from his book. He left the ground and walked towards the door.
Sigma sighed on being ignored but he guessed the Prince also didn’t know the answer to his question.
"Is it the Alpha? The Alpha stops by here a lot recently. I bet he’s trying to escape Beta Cade."
Sorren smirked. "Escape Cade? I knew it. Cade is a pain, isn’t he? We should bury him in my farm at this point." He said, in front of Cade who he opened the door for.
Sigma replied without thinking. "Beta Cade can be a pain."
It felt like a stab to Cade’s heart, the boy he came to see thought he was a pain? Was it because he tried to make him do his job as a Delta? Ungrateful!
He clicked his tongue and tried to leave but Sorren locked the door and returned to the living room. Cade sighed, he remembered his blood stained claws and walked straight to a bathroom.
Sigma’s heart jumped when the Beta walked past. "It’s not the Alpha?" but he had already forgotten what he said about the Beta and was happy to see him. "Hey, Cade!"
Cade ignored him and tried to get the blood off his claws. The incident that happened still haunted him and he hoped the girl wouldn’t die.
"What happened?" Sorren appeared by his side. He didn’t expect to see blood and moved back sharply, his vision clouded immediately and he nearly blacked out.
"Sorren?" Cade held him with the bloodied hand and slowly let him drop on the ground. "Sigma, is he sick too?"
Sigma crawled besides the Prince while shaking his head. He couldn’t even remember the Prince ever being sick except if he got involved in something violent.
If the Prince had been attacked while at High Moon and he couldn’t protect him because he fainted, Sigma wouldn’t forgive himself. His only purpose there was to protect the Prince but he couldn’t do that.
Cade’s hand was stopped just before he touched Sorren’s forehead. Sorren sat up, glaring at Cade. "Don’t just touch me with bloody hands."
Cade tsked and left him, returning to the bathroom. "So you still black out when you see blood?" he shook his head. "Yet you can be really violent yourself."
Sorren said nothing and lifted Sigma from the ground and made him seat down. "I’m fine." He said to Sigma. "And you, who did you kill to get stained like that?"
From the amount of blood, Sorren knew that it probably didn’t cut so deep into the victim but the blow from his palm could eventually kill the victim.
Cade washed everything off and slid down to the ground as he felt more relieved. "I don’t know what Princess Laurel was doing outside the border but—"
"Princess Laurel?" Sigma left his seat. "It was her?"
Sorren’s eyes widened and he thought of where to plant Cade’s body when his brother would be done with him. Did he really throw his hands at whoever annoyed him?
Cade slapped the ground, bringing their panicked eyes to him. "It wasn’t Princess Laurel, dammit! It was a member of her pack who had a really intimidating wolf."
Cade thought back on it, the wolf wasn’t intimidating and would probably be of warrior rank but the size had been something else.
He explained in detail what had happen and used the wall to describe it’s height and width. Sorren would’ve thought he was seeing thing if not he added that it shifted to a white haired girl.
The mysterious white haired girl that his brother left to see? If the girl was still with the Princess, then did Stefan confirm that she wasn’t a threat?
And with her wolf size that could inflict fear in someone like Cade, then could she be a threat to them?
"This white haired girl had travelled back with us, though I never saw her. Did my brother tell you anything when he came back?" Sorren asked.
Cade remembered how sad the Alpha had looked but he didn’t mention anything except telling him and Dylan that Sigma was in bad health again hours later.
"He didn’t speak of any girl but this girl, even the Princess’s knight tried to protect her so I think she’s really important to Princess Laurel." Cade looked at his claws.
Now, he had done something that’d deepen the hatred the Princess felt towards them by hurting one of her one and he didn’t know why the girl came too close to him.
He slapped the floor again. This wouldn’t end well.
