Chapter Three Hundred-Forty-Five – Odd

Escanor showed Quincy a room, then quickly ran away, hiding his flustered face and reddish ears.

He had been so surprised when the Princess returned and gave him a hug saying she missed him, it felt like a dream and also made him worry what had happened to her during that week at High Moon Kingdom.

Then, she took his hand and placed the hand of a smaller white haired girl, who looked like an angel, on his hand.

He didn’t know what to say and thought it was another student, like Bebe, that he needed to train.

However, the Princess had said in a cheery voice that they should get along and spend time together, making him think it was a romantic partner.

He’d have done everything to refuse the girl but things got worse when the Alpha of Black Claws met them like that.

The look on the Alpha’s face showed he assumed he barged in on something important but Escanor didn’t want to be married to a random white haired girl.

Till he heard Quincy’s voice, and heard him threaten the Alpha. Not only was he not what he expected but he became a very dangerous person to Escanor.

"Hey!" Quincy popped up besides him.

Escanor shrieked and stepped back. He felt awkward around clingy boys and now, combined with Zeldris, this Quincy entered personal spaces too.

"W-What do you want?" he asked Quincy, continuing towards the Lead Warrior’s quarters he wanted to return to. Everyone was there, even the young Beta, to talk.

Did something urgent happen that made her stay back at High Moon Kingdom? Damancas had asked too. Quincy nudged Escanor and the boy shuddered.

Quincy stepped away. Anytime he got close to the boy, he acted like he could see his huge wolf and not him. He exhaled. "The people of this side are something else."

In the grand hall, Laurel rubbed her eyes gently while waiting for the Beta to return with Bebe who allegedly still stayed unconscious.

Laurel was sure the gas used to knock them out had relaxing effects as well because she still felt sleepy. "How was things when I was away? At Rolling Stones, I mean."

Valkyrie looked at a book with a tensed expression, read its content and nodded. "All good. I had to handle it."

Laurel smiled. Her Lead Warrior must’ve grown anxiety concerning these business because of her. The door opened and Escanor and Quincy walked in.

Laurel balanced her head on her arm that rested on the seat’s armrest. She connected to Valkyrie’s mind link. "What do you think of the wolf from the West?"

"Well, Zeldris knows him the most and doesn’t fully trust him so I’d still be on my guard around him." Valkyrie said it all in one breath.

Laurel’s eyes widened. Zeldris didn’t full trust Quincy? The two already acted like soulmates so she didn’t think Zeldris would have reservations towards him.

Perhaps he still had doubts because of the obvious question, what exactly did Quincy plan to do here? It had been bothering Laurel as well.

Just saying he wanted to meet with her grandfather and father weren’t going to cut it. What did he plan to do when he saw them? Could it still be that marriage?

"Truly, we don’t know what he wants but he might not be a danger to us either. Do keep your guard up and protect us if it comes to that." Laurel replied in her mind link.

Valkyrie nodded, her tension slowly dissipating at being relied upon. She smiled at Quincy. "I am Lead Warrior Valkyrie, nice to meet you."

Quincy turned to her, having a cautious expression. Why did the Lead Warrior suddenly introduce herself to him with a faked smile? Did he get into her suspicions.

"Uh, yeah." He moved away from her and towards Laurel. He didn’t know any of these wolves and they might not trust that he really only came this far for fun.

Yudan was a big tribe and he had a problem, that oddly huge wolf of his, it had grown big enough to be an insecurity.

At Yudan, many male werewolves usually stay in their wolf form to hunt and change back. They rarely wear clothes so they’d easily change to wolf form again.

Quincy had realized clothes were worn really fancily here but that was very different from where he came from.

In all, his main reason for coming here was to escape some judgy eyes who saw his wolf’s size as odd and stay with his grandfather’s friend who lives where clothes are worn. He had other reasons too, but none hurt anyone.

"I’d have to work hard to gain their trust." He muttered to himself. "I plan to stay here for as long as I can anyway."

That Alpha might not come close to the Princess to bother her, so he’d make sure all her officials are aware of the Alpha’s affections and plan how to protect her from it.

The Beta arrived with Bebe, and Zeldris and Thales came minutes after them. They all sat around the Princess and Laurel remembered all that happened at High Moon.

She summarized the mental state of the King of High Moon and how a friend of her mother, Zeno, sacrificed himself for her to make her escape.

It wasn’t what happened as it was Zeno’s will but Thales let the Princess take the dramatic approach.

She spoke of the war Lunaria tried creeping on High Moon and she stared at Thales while speaking. She felt he knew something about that that they didn’t know.

Thales kept his eyes on Quincy but the young man didn’t seem to understand anything that happened.

Laurel assured that Prince Sorren’s presence helped to convince the King to stop his acts of experimentations on werewolves but there’s no idea when he’d start again.

The meeting closed with Laurel asking the officials to improve on two things within Green Valleys, their warriors and their Pack’s reputation.

On hearing warriors, the young Beta wondered if she wanted to attack a pack and invade. He remembered and asked. "Did something happen to the Delta Sigma?"

Laurel hesitated before nodding. "He’s currently really weak because he touched magical instruments."

The young Beta gave no reaction and that worried Laurel the most. The boy had a grudge against Sigma and also had a truckload of magical instruments.
