Chapter 343: White Haired Girl
Chapter Three Hundred-Forty-Three – White Haired Girl
Stefan expected his mate’s refusal and felt grateful that it had been a polite refusal and nothing lethal.
She looked tired but not suffering so nothing traumatic happened to her during her stay at High Moon Kingdom.
The warriors carried the luggage of Sorren and Sigma inside and Stefan stopped them from carrying Sigma and Sorren, the rider wouldn’t move anyway as he passed out when he reached Sorren’s quarters.
Stefan wondered what had happened to them. His eyes shifted to the white haired girl looking at him intently. His mate had a habit of bringing in lost people anytime she left to High Moon.
A frown crept to Stefan’s lips when he noticed Zeldris return to Laurel and hold her hand. Wasn’t that too cozy for a Knight?
His eyes returned to the white haired girl who still studied him. She looked like she’d be the same age with Sigma. Unlike Bebe, she didn’t have an impressive rank. "Name?"
Laurel turned to Quincy when she heard Stefan ask him a question. She realized that she didn’t tell him that he’s the Alpha but he should know.
Quincy had noticed how the Alpha had reacted when Zeldris held Laurel. He found it truly humorous. The Alpha dared to think the Princess he hurt could be his?
He ignored the Alpha’s question and strolled to Laurel, Zeldris had her left hand so he held the right and pulled her to the exit. Laurel belonged to Green Valleys only.
The action surprised Stefan and he couldn’t help but see the message in that. Did that girl dragging Laurel out of his sight mean something? Who was she?
He needed answers so he carried his younger brother inside and came back later for Sigma. He noticed another girl in there but left her till she’d wake up.
It had just been a day since they were apart but Stefan felt rejuvenated to have his brother close.
He’d felt abandoned in a strange land, High Mountains, by the evening of yesterday when he expected them.
Convincing the King had taken quite some time and their coming back, Zeldris said they met an accident on the way that made them pass out but they recovered just fine.
He made tea for them and heated a meal he had made himself and felt very proud of. He sat by the table and looked at the notices Cade sent for him to crosscheck.
Half an hour later, Sorren opened his eyes and stared at the first thing he saw intently, wondering why the carriage’s ceiling looked like his quarter’s ceiling.
"Did I fall again?" He forced himself up.
"Did you fall before?" Stefan stretched a cup to him. Sorren exhaled and took it. He tried to remember how they reached but nothing came to mind. He noticed Sigma on a couch and relaxed, as long as they were safe.
He travelled with capable people so maybe he felt like sleeping. "You made it?" he asked after drinking the tea.
Stefan nodded proudly and fell on the couch besides him. "How did it go? You guys came in a convoy, right?"
Sorren tried to remember and nodded, they were three carriages and he had been on the first one with Laurel. "Did she stop by?"
Stefan knew who he meant and shook his head in the negative. "She brought back another girl from High Moon. A very possessive girl, I think."
Sorren remembered Saki and folded his arms. Did Laurel take Saki with her because she wanted him to speak about the witch with his brother first? He sighed.
Now more than ever, he wanted Saki close for Sigma’s sake so his brother would have to accept.
He narrated to Stefan a rundown of the witch his mother helped and how she wanted to serve him.
He abstained from speaking of his mother being a witch since it was still unlikely and Saki never spoke of it. Also, his mother shifted all the time so there should be no way.
Magic was taken in exchange of the wolf.
Stefan said nothing and only guessed how long he could remain with him while watching Saki. Chances that’d she’d hurt Sorren were low.
Sorren knew who’s dangerous and not, but she might not be perceived as not dangerous by other warriors when they find out that she’s a witch.
It had taken Stefan a whole day to drill to the warriors’ head that Princess Laurel was a respectable official and head of Green Valleys so they should treat her as such or face whatever punishment she dishes to them.
Sorren left his brother when he said nothing. He needed to pay the carriage he came with, but on getting outside, he found the rider asleep.
Saki’s scent was still inside and he folded his arms on seeing her still asleep. "It wouldn’t take anything to take her inside, you know. Did the Princess finally leave her?"
Stefan looked out and sighed. So that girl was the witch? She looked a bit older so he could be consoled that she wouldn’t make romantic advances towards his brother.
"I didn’t know her so I left her there." Stefan replied. "She isn’t the one Laurel took. It was a white haired girl."
Sorren turned to his brother. Did he see things now? There was no one with Laurel that had white hair in the carriage. "Did you also see Bebe?"
Stefan thought for a while. There’s no way that girl was Bebe. They had different face structures and Bebe’s eyes couldn’t turn blue no matter what she did.
Most importantly would be that Bebe wouldn’t blatantly ignore him when he spoke to her. "It’s not Bebe." It began to bother Stefan that Sorren didn’t know this person.
"You mean you didn’t see when Laurel snuck this person inside the carriage?" Stefan forced a smile. "Well, she probably hid them from you because you might refuse."
A good thing about his mate was she wanted to help anyone she could, he only hoped that it wouldn’t be used against her. "Take your witch inside, yourself, Sorren."
Sorren snapped from his thoughts and stared at Saki, he frowned and leaned on the wall. "I just woke up. Help me."
