Chapter 333: We’re Not Friends

Chapter Three Hundred-Thirty-Three – We’re Not Friends.

The door to Laurel’s room was knocked on and she rolled out of bed and fell to the ground. Her joints till hurt from doing push-ups till late in the night.

On getting to her feet, her senses became alert. She caught scent of Bebe and hurried to the door. "Hey—"

"Princess," Bebe squeezed her in a hug, "have you been alright? Did that bastard do anything to you?"

Laurel said nothing and kept on looking ahead. She rubbed Bebe’s head and replied. "What sort of things do you think he’d do to a Princess, Bebe?"

She narrowed her eyes at Asher, who leaned on the wall behind Bebe. Laurel couldn’t feel his presence and felt impressed with how well he could mask it.

Despite Bebe’s confusion, Laurel pushed her into the room when Asher left the wall. He had heard Bebe call him bastard so Laurel didn’t want him hurting her.

"Do you know a lycan named Zeno? What do you know about him?" Asher stopped inches away from her.

Laurel took a step back but noticed the door behind her, she stepped forward. She wanted to block him from the door. The King definitely held a grudge.

"Zeno? Well, he’s a handsome red-eyed lycan that Prince Sorren and I met at the Lycan Packs Meeting."

Asher narrowed his eyes at her. Could that really be all she knew? She had Thales, a Grand Witch serving under her so could she not know other witches?

He wasn’t stupid enough not to notice that she got close quickly with Saki, the witch working for him.

He didn’t mind the closeness since she needed someone to talk to but her openness to witches when her pack had no history with witches made him feel like she’d know.

"What did you think of him?" he asked to be sure she really knew nothing, especially about Zeno’s magic.

Chances that Zeno recently got his magic, that’s after the Lycan Packs Meeting, was probable. However, since Zeno wanted to meet with her, she might know.

Laurel exhaled, folding her arms. She didn’t know why he kept asking about Zeno but if he had realized that he’s involved in the attack then she and Sorren would get in trouble for hiding the truth.

"I don’t know what else you want me to say. He’s a beautiful man." She shrugged. "What do you think of him?"

The way she worded it made Asher feel like there was a secret she knew of Zeno, but she also sounded like she was defending herself.

Was there more to Zeno than being a magic user? Asher didn’t think she’d tell him, especially as she kept on complimenting Zeno in every line.

"I think he’s a beautiful man too." He walked away, but paused when he remembered. "What exactly did your servant think I’d do to you?"

Laurel’s eyes widened as he spoke of it. She stretched her hand to block the door so he wouldn’t get to Bebe. "Ignore what she said. You’re not that type of person."

Asher could guess what Bebe meant so it surprised him that the Princess thought he wasn’t that type of person.

What he didn’t know was if she meant that in a good or bad way. That part would be the most important part.

"True." He continued walking. "They are better use for you than that." The Princess took her hand down as he said that. He still spoke of using her an experiment?

Or else, what other use could he need of her? Since she’d be leaving soon, she had the thought to talk back and make her stand.

All the reasons she came to the Kingdom for had been defeated. She didn’t train to deliver a ’shut up’ blow to him. She didn’t help in convincing him to make Lunaria stop the war and she couldn’t get revenge for Bebe.

"This will be my last time in your palace, King Asher." She said. "I’d make sure of it."

Asher paused his steps, raising a brow, but he didn’t turn. Did he say something wrong? "You serve Alpha Stefan who serve me. Don’t dare me to make you come."

Laurel knew he liked dares but she wouldn’t shy away either. She didn’t serve Stefan and was only a leader under his rule, there were two different things.

Green Valleys Pack wasn’t dependent on Black Claws Pack or Black Thorns Pack for anything.

When they needed to make another pack, Rolling Stones, submit, they had used her Green Valleys. Her pack was obviously the powerhouse.

"You have it wrong, your highness." She tried to be polite so she’d not tick him off completely. "Black Claws is on Green Valleys Property. We just don’t have the strength to chase them out yet."

With the way she worded it, Asher thought that she planned to overthrow Alpha Stefan’s government and a plan was already underway.

He remembered the report that came during the Lycan Packs Meeting of surviving Green Valleys’ warriors attacking Black Claws, but getting defeated.

If she planned something like to happen again, it’d be insulting to him that his lycan packs just kept getting bullied by werewolves.

He turned to her, his left eye twitching a bit. "I don’t think a weak thing like you is in a position to threaten me."

Laurel felt proud that her words had come across as a threat to him, because that’s what she wanted it to sound like but she feared being direct.

"I may be nothing to you, but I was born Princess Laurel. I also ask that next time, don’t send me letters with no purpose. We’re not friends." She spelt out.

He couldn’t be doing experiments on her kind and expect her to buddy up to him because he kidnapped her for a week. She didn’t suffer a Stockholm Syndrome.

If he’s really lonely then he should either make good use of the people around him, or lower that mountain sized pride and go out to talk to people.

"Well, that is all." She added when he said nothing.

She left for the room, almost running in as her heartbeat quickened. His silence was the most terrifying.
