Chapter 328: To Serve You

Chapter Three Hundred-Twenty-Eight – To Serve You

Sorren didn’t think he was such a spitting image of his mother that everyone seemed to see her in him. A part of him felt proud to know as he’d forgotten her face.

"What do you mean saved your life?" he asked the witch bowed before him. He felt like it could be another avenue to know about his mother, and her good deeds this time.

Saki exhaled and explained further. "She protected me when the lycans attacked our pack... I swore to be a warrior to defend the people... but I left it to be a witch and ended up trapped here..."

Laurel bent down towards Saki and rubbed her head. So Saki’s pack had been the same as Sorren’s mother’s pack? The world was quite a small place.

Sorren looked away. So the lady really knew his mother? His mother’s pack had been attacked by lycans too.

He exhaled, he didn’t even know how to react or tell her that his mother died. Also his mother had abandoned that same pack and got married out, didn’t she know?

"Ah..." Laurel realized and asked Saki. "If you had met Prince Sorren’s mother then... how old are you now?" her heart had already begun beating quickly.

Saki forced a smile and answered. "Twenty-seven. I’ve been told I don’t look it." She looked down. "I guess youth and longevity of the kids that died back then came to me."

Laurel gulped down nothing. That’s almost ten years difference and she’d been speaking informally to Saki all the time. She knew it’d be weird to sudden speak formally so she let it go.

That’d mean Saki was still a child when she saw Sorren’s mother and remembered her face because she saved her. "Why did you think Sorren was a Princess from Damancas though? The pack was taken over by Damancas, right?"

Saki frowned and turned to Sorren. "If not, what King was your mother rumored to have married? I never met the King and Queen of Damancas but the Queen was said to be a nice woman so I knew it’d be her... I thought it’d be."

Sorren didn’t want to think about how his life would have been if he had been born from Damancas. The King might not be a bad dad but he sort of preferred his current life.

His mother had left Damancas and clung to his father, he didn’t know the details. "It was a lycan King."

Saki’s eyes widened in horror and she stared at the young man in disbelief. Laurel patted her head and she frowned at Laurel as if that had been a subtle agreement with what the Prince said. "A Lycan King? Why?"

With all Sorren had heard, he thought that maybe his mother had met his father to avenge her pack that had been attacked by lycans.

But his older brother had convinced him that it had been more romantic than that and Sorren had to understand that his mother had abandoned the people for... love.

Or adventure, since she went to Jappongi, the best place to live it out within the kingdoms around.

"You don’t expect me to understand why my parents were together. I’m only grateful that I’m here." Sorren folded his arms, he congratulated himself from evading the question.

Saki couldn’t argue further. She already sensed it and from what Laurel had told her, Prince Sorren’s Kingdom was destroyed, as well as his family.

Sarah would be long dead by now, Saki didn’t need to ask to avoid reopening healing wounds. She knew what she had to do now that she has found another chance.

She had to repay her benefactor or her son, so that she could live in peace. Even if the son had lycan blood, he was still every part his mother.

After all, she’s stuck here with King Asher who’s mad. What would Prince Sorren, a reasonable lycan that Princess Laurel trusted, do to harm her?

"Prince Sorren are you here to take Laurel away?"

"And convince the King not to apologize to Lunaria." Sorren looked upwards. "I’m yet to get a direct answer from him but he seemed to get my point. Hopefully."

Saki left the ground and asked, with a hand in her chest. "I am a witch who lost the chance to get better and join and entourage years ago but I’m still quite talented. Permit me to serve under you, Prince Sorren."

Laurel could’ve seen that coming. She exhaled, keeping her hand behind her. She hoped to find a way to steal Saki all to herself but it seemed Sorren would have her first.

She scoffed when she saw the cautious look on Sorren’s face, she came in front of him. "You need someone like this with you. You shouldn’t even hesitate to agree."

The Prince rolled his eyes at Laurel but said nothing. His older brother still worried about his decision to bring in Thales to his house then he’d begin living with one?

He could see her importance but along with many inconveniences. "Do you know anything about my mother’s younger sister and her son?"

If she could give him more information that’d be beneficial to him then she might be more useful and he’d reconsider. Laurel raised an eyebrow.

"You want to know about them all of a sudden?" she asked. "Why the sudden interest in them?"

Sorren knew he might get a quicker answer from her, or a long winding one if she didn’t want to tell him, most likely the second. "I got curious since the son is alive."

"Zena?" Saki asked. "His mother had passed and joined the entourage I should’ve gone to. They were said to have all died though. I’m happy to know some survived."

"Yes, three." Laurel said without thinking, then she turned to Sorren who narrowed his eyes at her. She huffed, looking away. She didn’t have to tell him all she knew.

Saki exhaled. "That’s nice. Prince Sorren, will you consider my request?" She looked hopeful.

Sorren reluctantly nodded. Her magic of teleportation would prove useful to him soon enough.
