Chapter 325: Crazy King

Chapter Three Hundred-Twenty-Five – Crazy King

King Asher’s mind went to the destruction of his lab, if that wasn’t punishment, what was? He kept Sorren’s gaze. "I am the King. I dare anyone who wants to punish me."

He thought Sorren would have something interesting to say to make up for last time but he truly said abstract things.

The only interesting that had happened since he came was not being bothered by his displeasure to see him.

Asher knew many officials that’d be bothered by that, but this just went further to say Sorren didn’t regard him and in some way, it pissed Asher, even if he wouldn’t mind being hated. The King’s attention went to Sigma.

"You stopped coming to deliver letters and birds sent it. I worried something happened to you." He said to Sigma.

Sorren rolled his eyes and sat back, not knowing if the King had been actually serious. That’s what children did, try to change the topic when being scolded.

He glanced at Sigma, who didn’t know how to respond. Sorren didn’t think he’d know what to say if someone like Asher suddenly said they worried for them.

With Asher keeping steady eye contact with Sigma, Sorren knew his Sigma would say a word.

Sorren answered for his sake. "Sigma is the Delta of our pack and has been doing his duties, I can’t say for everyone but teenagers in power shouldn’t act like kids."

Asher couldn’t help but think that was directed at him even if he was few months to twenty. He sighed, finding more reasons to dislike Sorren.

"Sigma, didn’t you find working hard boring sometimes?" he left his seat. "I did, so I found a hobby to keep me busy but it seems I’m getting judged for it."

Sorren’s eyes dimmed on him. Using werewolves for experimentations was more than a hobby for him.

He used sadistic tormenting methods and it’s only because of the death of his mother that he never got over. He should stop being a baby and move on.

Sigma didn’t know how to reply but since the King seemed to keep asking him questions, he answered. "If you mean the lab thing you do, then that’s an extreme hobby. Hunting would help you instead."

Asher’s eyes widened and he snapped his head to Sigma, he slowly nodded. "Yes, hunting would be nice. Actually, I tried it once and it seemed fun to do."

Sorren found it a twist of fate that the King reacted to Sigma’s words but not his. He rested back, finding relief in it because the King seemed impossible to talk.

Sigma forced a smile, seeing that the King seemed to accept his idea. He didn’t know if he helped Prince Sorren but it seemed everything went as planned.

"Yeah, hunting... and not people but animals." He added to be sure he’s in the same page as the King, but he noticed the King’s face dim when he said ’not people’.

Sigma felt protective towards the people immediately, after all, at Green Valleys and Black Thorns, they were werewolves everywhere and he’s to protect them.

"Your highness, my advice is to hunt animals and not people. I hope we’re clear?" he raised his voice.

The raise of voice surprised Asher and he couldn’t help but laugh, finding it sort of adorable. Sigma reminded him of Slime but Slime would never yell at him.

Sorren rubbed Sigma’s back to calm him down, it seemed even Sigma couldn’t handle the crazy King so he had to come back to play. "King Asher, let’s be serious here."

Asher kept laughing, while looking at Sorren. "Serious?"

Sorren exhaled, feeling his fists ball and desperately yearn to pummel the King. It wouldn’t even be satisfied after one hit. "I know of the issue with Lunaria."

Asher’s smile fell and his humored expression shifted to an irritated one. So that’s why he actually visited?

He’d been wondering why he came for Laurel but had been staying here without mentioning Laurel even once.

The issue with Lunaria hadn’t even reached a week yet Black Claws knew about it. Could it be because of the Princess?

He didn’t think she’d be sending letters while being held and how did she? Her letters never addressed to Black Claws but to that little trash she kept around her.

"So what do you want to say about it—"

"That you should bow in apology to Lunaria and let it end but I doubt you’d do that." Sorren quickly replied. He noticed the King’s slight amusement.

He didn’t think the topic should amuse anyone and he could feel Sigma getting tensed and curious on hearing Lunaria needed a apology.

The King should feel an amount of protectiveness towards his Kingdom, right? Would he get his people into a fight because of his selfishness?

Didn’t he have a reason when he became King? Or was it only to have more power to do harm to werewolves? But this time, it’d be Lycans getting hurt. Shouldn’t he care?

"You’re King of all of us, how can you ignore Lunaria’s threat? You have to find a way to appease them since you were wrong." Sorren tried to keep his voice low.

Asher exhaled, looking up. Truly, if the threat spread, the people of the Kingdom would feel threatened.

But he didn’t think he could let go of a hobby that easily, he glanced at Sigma who looked tensed. "Scared? They’re just a bunch of werewolves, you know."

Sigma hid the fact it worried him. "I-I’m not, but war isn’t good and Lunaria once went to war with Lycans, right?"

Asher’s expression softened. "Right. War is... scary."

Sorren felt even more confused and turned from Sigma to the King. The King definitely reacted to Sigma. So he had a heart? But what’s the reason for the change?

Was it just coincidence since Sigma brought up the war that killed the King’s mother? Sorren cleared his throat. "Your highness, we’d appreciate if the war is avoided."

Asher said nothing but a sigh.
