Chapter 315: Heartless Thoughts

Chapter Three Hundred-Fifteen – Heartless Thoughts

Few years ago, an illness broke out but it only affected Lunaria and did nothing to the Lycans at High Moon even if the two kingdoms were close.

Lunaria used this as basis of resumed experimentation. Of course, the ethical principle will be questioned but so would the King’s actions.

Which also meant that the King’s lab will be revealed and everyone will know that the King started it.

"It’d cause a breech of trust and breed chaos in High Moon. This is what Lunaria wants." Stefan balled his fists. "They’ve clamored to attack High Moon Kingdom and now, they’ve gotten their chance—"

"That’s not what this is and you know it!" Sorren tossed the letter away, frowning at his brother. "Your mate is werewolf so how can you still think this way?"

Stefan raised a brow, confused. Think what way?

Sorren pointed at the letter on the ground. "King Asher started it! It’s totally his fault! Lunaria is only protecting werewolves by doing this!"

Stefan nodded to appease Sorren, but he already understood that it’s a protective move by Lunaria. Only that an offensive move was underneath it.

"Look!" Sorren continued. "They immobilized their battle forces which means this is more about protecting other werewolves from King Asher, than capturing lycans."

Stefan paused. "So there’s no offensive move in it?"

Sorren sighed. "More likely not. The ones who experimented on lycans years ago had been killed by Lunaria to prove they stopped."

This made it unlikely for them to readily want to start such an act again. This proclamation will likely be a threat but they modeled it as a promise or action already in motion.

That’s the only way to threaten hard headed goats like King Asher. Sorren felt immense hatred towards that living creature. "I’d leave for High Moon tomorrow."

The sooner he made that King stop his nonsense, the sooner Lunaria will drop their threat and all will be well.

If Lunaria goes ahead with it, smaller lycan packs would be their target first. They had only targeted High Moon Kingdom to prove a point.

"You just came back. Shouldn’t you..." Stefan trailed off when his brother glared at him. "I’m just worried—"

"We should’ve done something when we found out about King Asher’s experiments. Now it backfired. I can imagine Laurel cackling at us." Sorren plopped down on a chair.

Before, the victims had been werewolves and they didn’t care, innocent werewolves died. But now, tables turned.

Lunaria had many forces to reckon on, including the fact that Damancas might support them, including their Grand Witches. It’d be a full-blown war and Sorren dreaded war.

Stefan couldn’t tell why he looked so spent but for some reasons, he didn’t feel so bothered about the news.

The issue sounded like a problem between High Moon and Lunaria only. Something within him told him there’s more to it but he turned a deaf ear to it.

Sorren might try to convince the King to give up on his revenge, but Stefan knew he was someone who went ahead with his own revenge.

He didn’t know how to convince the King that he should stop without sounding like a hypocrite.

That’s the actual reason he’d done nothing about the experiments the King did, even if he knew it was a horrible way to exact revenge.

After having these thoughts, Stefan felt a heavy rock being thrown unto his heart and he couldn’t get it off.

His thoughts had been heartless and Sorren was right. How could he think that way when his mate was a werewolf?

At that point, he remembered what Laurel once told him. That revenge was an endless circle.

What would he do if that circle came around his mate or brother? Or became responsible for the destruction of his pack again?

He watched his brother and Sorren had begun to recover color on his face. Stefan didn’t appreciate seeing his brother scared, he rubbed his back.

"Don’t worry, I made some contacts with other Alphas at the Lycan Packs Meeting, I’d speak with them about this and we’d avoid the war that happened years ago."

It’s a promise he made to his younger brother and also to himself. He didn’t want to lose or stay low anymore.

(High Moon Kingdom)

The letter had already been sent when Laurel understood the gravity of what she’d sent to those sorry lycans back at her pack, but she’d really wanted to see Sorren’s face.

"I’m sure his pretty face would’ve aged hundred of years older." She cackled, playing with the envelopes on the table. "He hated violence, right? Things were changing."

Writing letters were now her only way of communicating with the outside world, so she made sure her first letter was iconic.

Sorren should be honored to receive it from her.

When she had heard about Lunaria’s move, it scared her, for the sake of the innocent lycans but deep down, a sense of justice reared in her heart.

Lunaria’s actions felt just. The King of Lycans had been justifying his reasons all the while so why couldn’t they?

Still it would still boil down to the fact that innocent lycans would get involved and that’s not fair.

She left the desk she wrote at and walked to the door. She opened it and the witch strolled in. "Sent?"

The witch, Saki, nodded. She fell on the Princess’ bed. "And I used the ’Bebe’ thing as the sender."

Laurel frowned. "Bebe’s actually a name."

She used the girl’s name, in case the King intercepted the letter, he’d not feel like opening if he saw it’s from Bebe.

She had then sent it to Sorren to spite him as he worked alone and would be troubled. Stefan had so many people working with him so they might read it first.

No lycan would sleep well after reading that because the war that happened years back was truly dreadful for both werewolves and lycans. No one wanted a repeat.
