Chapter 314: Intrusive Thoughts

Chapter Three Hundred-Fourteen – Intrusive Thoughts

Sorren knew what to say and do to make sure the King didn’t grow an ’interest’ in him. He’d only want to kick him out of the palace and then, he’d take Laurel with him.

The King wouldn’t act adamant to keep Laurel in front of someone else. He’d try to hide his loneliness, and since Sorren didn’t care, it’d be perfect to exploit.

"I’d take Sigma with me, and Thales is still at High Moon Kingdom so it’d be no big deal." Sorren assured.

Stefan agreed, making his mind up. "I’d stay here and help you handle the problems that would arise. Cade will handle there. Don’t make trouble at High Moon."

It sounded to Sorren that his brother only wanted to work less. There’s no need to stay at High Mountains when that lazy elder was around.

"Before I forget, Thales is quite known at Damancas." Sorren turned from the table and faced his brother. "It’s known that he’s serves the Princess of Green Valleys."

It’s while asking about Thales, his informant used ’serving the Green Valleys’ Princess’ and Sorren guessed that’d be way his mother’s sister had served the Queen so it’s different from what he thought and he asked about it.

He also found out that there were no slaves in the royal palace, all maidens and servants are paid workers. It felt odd since the Kingdom was known for their slave market.

Stefan adjusted the pillow under his head. The King and Queen of Damancas cared about Laurel a lot and her issues had become their own.

"Thales offered to be her witch himself. Did they accept it just like that?" Stefan didn’t think he could make such decisions by himself.

"They had no choice. Thales is actually one of those Grand Witches, the great witches second only to the Legendary Witch." Sorren noticed his brother pause.

He had felt fear when he heard that too, and the one that made him shudder visibly was a particular one.

"Do you also know that Thales and that Witch Ella are siblings? They’re not in good terms though but yeah, it’s... scary. She’s a Grand Witch too."

Stefan forced his body to move and stared worriedly at his younger brother. He had hosted a Grand Witch and the brother of the other Grand Witch that nearly killed him.

"You are okay, right?" Stefan trusted his mental health but asking wouldn’t be bad. He left the ground.

The information didn’t mean that Thales had any bad intentions for them, it just meant that if he ever did, they’d be hell to pay.

That’s the same witch currently with Laurel at High Moon Kingdom. King Asher should really release Laurel before her witch acted. Stefan felt a slight comfort in that.

"The Grand Witch Ella had been returned to Damancas, hasn’t she?" Stefan asked and watched his brother nod.

That’s one problem closed.

"And Chris got the alliance, didn’t he?" Stefan realized he never asked, but he exhaled when Sorren nodded again.

Stefan made a mental note to visit the boy with a nice congratulatory gift. He relaxed his back at the couch.

He thought for a while how nice it was to just not do anything while spending time speaking of anything that came to mind with his younger brother.

"Do you think we should have a ball?"

Sorren scowled. Where did that come from? "Don’t let your intrusive thoughts win. Go back to being workaholic."

His words only made Stefan think strongly about the ball.

If he had one at Green Valleys during Sigma’s birthday, it’d help the people of Green Valleys connect with them. Also, Laurel might attend and he’d ask her for a dance.

"You don’t have to plan it. Baxter would." Stefan said. Baxter had wanted to plan his cousin’s birthday party but having a normal ball could be different. It might not spark as much bad memories for Green Valleys either.

It’d be their first since then and it could help them move on and think of the future from hence on.

"You are still thinking of that." Sorren broke his thoughts, and walked out of the room to attend to a warrior outside the door. He took the report and letter from him.

As he turned towards the room he left, he felt his mind link being nudged on but not completely broken into. His fists clenched on the letter.

"I told you to stop letting your intrusive thoughts win!" he yelled from outside, stomping inside. He sighed, rubbing his temples.

Suddenly getting into his mind link gave light pangs of headaches, and since his wolf was inactive and mind link had the strongest connection to his wolf, he felt his wolf awaken.

But he didn’t let Stefan notice and sighed.

This happened whenever his brother was bored or had free time, only Sorren suffered it because he couldn’t tell anyone how much of a burden his brother could be when he’s in the mood.

"Why don’t you use your mind link though? Tell me." The Alpha asked from inside the room, and at the same nudged Sorren’s mind link again.

He moved aside but still got tossed the letter and report by Sorren. "I’d throw you out of my house next."

Stefan chuckled, opening the letter. It caught his attention because it had the High Moon seal. "From Bebe to you—"

Sorren snatched the letter quickly. If it came from High Moon Kingdom then something serious must’ve happened. "You should be alarmed, it could be... worse."

Blood drained from Sorren’s face and his eyes dimmed on the letter. He didn’t expect the letter to be so different yet just as horrifying, if not more, than what he thought.

Stefan left where he rested. What did ’worse’ mean? His brother didn’t look like something happened to his mate but he definitely looked like something messed up.

He looked in and immediately remembered the conversation he had with Laurel before she left.

"Lunaria has resumed breeding and already kidnapped ten male lycans at High Moon Kingdom?" Stefan sighed. "How sure was she to say something this sensitiv—"

Stefan kept reading and it only got worse. Lunaria had found out about the King’s experiments on werewolves.

They’ve immobilized lycan hunters, bred lycans with magic, and Lunaria’s Lunar Forces to start the capturing of young male lycans for this project.

They masked the project under medical purposes. A war, one of the Greatest Werewolf Kingdoms started one.
