Chapter 306: Taste

Chapter Three Hundred-Six – Taste

The carriage stopped at a flower shop and the rider got down for a break. Sorren relaxed inside, inhaling the calming scent of the flowers.

He might end up buying a lot today, but they decayed fast and it annoyed him. The florist still didn’t want to tell him about the seeds so he couldn’t grow them.

There was a hit on the carriage and he smiled, knowing she’d spotted him. A young lady peeked into the carriage with blushed cheeks. "Sir Sorren, here again? I will not..."

The smile Sorren had on his face caught her off guard and she fumbled her words. Still, she kept her ground and said in a smaller voice. "I will not tell you about the flower."

"That’s not a nice way to say hello, is it?" Sorren sat up, running his hand through his hair.

The innocent action from him made the young lady even redder and she gulped down nothing. "H-Hello, Sir. Still!"

Sorren had already given up on getting the information. He didn’t know how to seduce or he’d have readily taken the method to know if it’d get it.

But the florist seemed adamant on hiding the information about the plant and no other florist had it or knew about it. Sorren once thought it was a fake plant.

However, he saw the plant in a book at Lady Zara’s place and Thales had told him it came from the farthest West. That’s all the information known.

The farthest West was a place not explored by many people in Sorren’s life so he felt heavily curious about it since it seemed to house beautiful flowers.

"Go back to your shop. I don’t plan to bother you today." Sorren said, searching his bag for something.

The lady felt disappointed that she got asked to leave but a customer came and she hurried to serve them. She had no clue who Sorren was but she enjoyed his presence.

Sorren got down from the carriage, using the other door. He wrapped a shawl around his hair and neck.

It’d make him seem like a lady but his face wouldn’t be visible, that’d make him look like an ordinary lady.

But he passed a metallic door first and saw a bit of his reflection. The shawl did nothing to hide him. He sighed, and brought it to his shoulders.

He’d have to ignore anyone that’d initiate a conversation. He found a gathering of people and went in to mix up. Surely, he wouldn’t stand out in a gathering.

He got close and caught scent of the Damancas Prince he once met, and there was someone powerful with him.

Sorren’s jaw dropped when he sighted the Queen of Damancas seated in an open restaurant, munching on a snack. She raised her hand and everyone cheered.

"This is good too! Good job to you!" the Queen gave the chef in front of her a thumbs up. "So next!"

Tasting and trying out snacks from young chefs were her favorite things to do with the people. If it’s newly on sale, she’d buy a lot and it’d get more customers.

She noticed her son didn’t seem to partake in the fun and was mainly a feast for the eyes of the young ladies.

As another chef brought his snack to her, she asked for another plate so she could involve one of her audience.

Another plate was brought and she looked around for who to call. Her eyes landed on a young lady staring at her in annoyance.

At first, the look stunned her but then she got curious. That lady looked like a foreigner too, and familiar.

She pointed at another girl who’d been staring at her son and invited her to taste the snack and give an opinion. The people cheered loudly at this and the girl blushed.

Sorren scoffed, feeling annoyed. So the Queen disliked Black Claws so much that she didn’t try to listen to Chris after he’d been reciting so hard?

He snapped his head to the other direction and walked back to the carriage. He’d rather have a nap there and go back early for Chris.

He closed his eyes when he got in and pulled a book out of his bag. He hadn’t read a line in when he caught scent of someone, his heart skipped a beat.

He slowly pulled the book down and his eyes widened. Why was the Queen of Damancas at his window?

He sighted her son standing few meters behind her with a frown. Sorren felt confused.

The Queen’s bright smile stayed glued to her face. "My son told me that you’re actually a man and a lycan."

Sorren raised a brow. Actually a man? Did she think he was something else? He nodded. "I am—"

"Are you werewolf?" the Queen poked her head into the window. "You don’t feel like one.... Oh, a hybrid lycan?"

Sorren didn’t know how to feel about this. He had respect for the royalties here and he didn’t want to seem rude, but he’d prefer she left him alone and go to Chris.

Surprisingly, he looked out the window and no one paid attention to the Queen looking into a carriage.

It made Sorren wonder if the gathering around the restaurant had happened not because of the Queen tasting the snacks but because of the restaurant itself.

He had heard she was open minded, but this was much.

"How about you come in and sit with me? Don’t stand outside." He gestured for her to come in.

The Queen chuckled, opening the carriage door. "You didn’t seem like a gentleman. Thank you."

Sorren couldn’t tell if it’s a compliment, but it didn’t feel like one. He brushed it away. "Do you want to say—"

"Yes, I want to say." The Queen interjected. "You look a lot like her and recently, I’ve been thinking of those sisters after seeing Zena. Do you remember?"

Sorren listened attentively but he couldn’t place where she was going with it. What sisters? His mother’s?
