Chapter 305: Hide It
Chapter Three Hundred-Five – Hide It
The young Chris recited his introduction speech again, in front of Sorren. The Prince thought it felt stiff but he didn’t want to put much pressure on the kid.
He was clear enough to be heard by the King and Queen of Damancas who had finally accepted their invitation.
"Don’t fret. Just speak clearly and let them make their own decision. Whatever it is, accept it politely and leave. I’d stroll with the carriage a bit but I’d be early. Okay?"
Chris stared blankly at the Prince. Sorren snapped his fingers on his face and the boy dragged his eyes from the Prince’s face. "S-Sorry. Are you seeing the King too?"
Sorren shook his head and left to his quarters.
Chris sighed. If the Prince wouldn’t be seeing the royalties then why did he bother dress so beautifully?
It always distracted him when he looked at him and the boy felt Sorren should meet the royalties.
The King might appreciate his looks and freely give the alliance, or was that a bit of a stretch?
Sorren returned from the quarters and climbed the carriage, he paused. "Do you want to say goodbye to your mother again? We might stay three days there."
Chris turned towards his house, but climbed the carriage with a determined expression. If he tried that, his mother might make a face that’d make him want to stay.
He also wanted to do something cool for his older relatives and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity.
Sorren smiled at his resolve and knocked on the ceiling of the carriage to let the rider know they could move.
"Pr-Prince Sorren, what if... what if I don’t get it? You’d not be angry, would you?" he studied the Prince’s face.
"I will." Sorren replied honestly. "After going through the trouble and it’s not achieved. Shouldn’t I be?"
That mounted a lot of pressure to Chris’s weak heart. He nodded and stayed quiet. He had to get it then. The more he thought of it, the more the pressure waned.
He just had to get it so that the Prince’s troubles wouldn’t be in vain. He made a small bow. "Th-Thank you for escorting me to this assignment of mine."
Sorren waved in dismissal. It’s not like he did it for the boy, he only wanted to get under his older brother’s skin.
Hopefully, something interesting would happen while at Damancas. The carriage ride was mostly silent, apart from Chris’s habitual reciting to improve his confidence.
The carriage stopped at the gate of Damancas and Sorren stuck out his hand to give the guard the letter of acceptance that served as their entry into the Kingdom.
Sorren’s eyes swept around the entrance, noticing that more ruby stones had been buried into the walls since he last visited. This Kingdom always stunned him.
Chris looked around the place with awe. He realized that the carriage hadn’t still moved. He and Sorren snapped their heads to the guard in front of them.
The guard had a red face as he stared at the figure before him, wondering if it’s another pack’s princess that had come for the Princes. He felt utterly jealous.
Sorren snapped his fingers across his face and raised a brow. The guard blushed and quickly took the letter to inspect.
He found it alluring that this Princess seemed to have a fiesta personality, she’d probably not be liked by the Princes for not being submissive.
That’d be one Princess saved from the vices of their deadbeat Princes. Even the guards knew of those Princes.
"Sorry, please. Go in." he gestured to the other guards at the gate and the path to enter opened. Sorren didn’t spare the guard a glance as he fell back in the carriage.
If he knew he’d grown more beautiful than the last time he visited, he’d have worn a hood over his clothes. He stared at the clothes and frowned, they didn’t deserve to be hid.
The carriage stopped at the staircase that seemed to wind for ages. Sorren strengthened his resolve not to leave the carriage on seeing that.
Chris exhaled, before stepping down from the carriage and adjusting his clothes. He looked up at the stairs and began climbing. This will help him burn out the pressure.
"Good luck!" Sorren shouted to him.
The boy nodded, before smartly climbing the stairs. Halfway, he noticed the carriage still stayed there. He smiled, the Prince cheered for him in his own way.
He noticed another beautiful man walking out of the palace. His first instincts were to bow in case it’s the King going on a walk but the beautiful man stood before him.
"Another young official?" the man asked with a frown.
Chris bowed. "I am only a representative of Black Thorns. I’m here to have an audience with you, your highness."
A bright smile came to the beautiful man’s lips. "Ah, you think I’m the King? No, I’m Prince Kiad." He rubbed the boy’s head, feeling swelled up.
Finally, a young boy who knew greatness when he saw it. Prince Kiad felt proud. He looked ahead and sighted the pretty girl seated in the carriage. Wouldn’t she come up?
The carriage began moving and Prince Kiad felt a stab in his heart. That girl locked eyes with him but didn’t even smile but rather rode away?
Chris turned to the carriage and waved. "Good bye, Prince Sorren." He turned to Prince Kiad. "Excuse me."
The Prince nodded and moved away from him to continue to the Palace. He turned back to the carriage. How could he forget that annoying Lycan’s face!
Though he’d accept that he looked better than he thought. The first time they met, he felt stressed about escaping the lycan Alpha that he didn’t take in his features.
He turned and held out his hand for his mother, she took his hand and pouted. He smiled, she still sulked about his father accepting the lycan pack’s representative.
Prince Kiad didn’t care to know what’s going on but he knew that Black Claws only used Black Thorns to get an alliance. It was a smart move.
His mother disliked Black Claws so disliked Black Thorns, so he’d take her away from his father for a while and see if he’d get her to buy him favor from his father.
