Chapter 304: Pushing Buttons

Chapter Three Hundred-Four – Pushing Buttons

Little brothers could be scary sometimes but Stefan felt guilty for bringing it up. He still remembered what his mother looked like but Sorren had been younger.

Also Stefan had let the kind women in the pack act like a mother to him but Sorren had stayed away while assuming a motherhood role with Sigma.

Stefan sometimes wondered if Sorren truly healed. He shrugged. "Well, the Elder only knew because he’d been her escort. For some reasons, Laurel asked about that."

Laurel? Sorren exhaled. Did that Princess get curious about his mother because of their past? Or did she ask because of the witch his mother had spoken to?

"Maybe my mother had taken me to a witch because I fell ill. That’s all I can think of. You know she doesn’t care about moral methods and would do anything."

Sorren placed the cracked plate on the shelf. The memories he had with his mother were fleeting but he definitely knew there was nothing about a witch.

So the witch wouldn’t be an important person. And as for Damancas, he’d accept that they might be something of importance there, like his mother’s younger sister.

However in all his visits to the Kingdom, he had never seen her so he had placed it behind him as well.

He turned to the cutlery rack and arranged. "I’ve also been wanting to ask you this, more like, tell you this. I’d be taking Chris myself to get the alliance with Damancas."

Stefan stayed quiet, watching his brother calmly arrange the cutleries, then he bit his lower lips. "Is this because of what I asked. I apologized, didn’t I?"

"It’s what I’ve decided." Sorren huffed, leaving the kitchen.

Stefan glared behind him. This must be his revenge and it really stung. He still wasn’t over his mate travelling for Goddess-knows-what and his brother would leave too?

Sorren really knew how to get under his skin. "Also, don’t you want to wait for Thales to be here to help—"

"Since when did Black Claws need help from a witch?" Sorren smirked, tilting his head. "I believe I can handle it myself. Darren already prepped Chris up well."

In actuality, Sorren felt it’d be better if Thales didn’t get involved or it’d undermine the alliance.

Damancas shouldn’t think they did them a favor, the alliance will benefit both parties so no one should feel superior.

"And we’d leave immediately. Tomorrow." Sorren dodged the objected that flew to him, he nonchalantly carried the cup he served Stefan with. "I made my mind up."

It thrilled him that he pushed Stefan’s buttons so he made a short twirl towards the kitchen and dropped the cup.

Stefan’s grip tightened on the next object he wanted to throw but he dropped his arm. It wouldn’t work anyway. To change Sorren’s mind, he’d have to beat or tie him up.

Both options were a hassle.

Stefan didn’t think he’d face much issues being at Damancas since he’d been able to pull it off since.

He’d be following Chris but he didn’t need to come before the King and Queen so there wouldn’t be any problem, unless Sorren decided to create one for himself.

"Do you want what I’m cooking?" Sorren asked, looking out from the kitchen while holding a big spoon.

Stefan exhaled, and walked back to the table. He plopped down on the ground but rested his head on the table.

Sorren went back in. "I guess there’s a ’yes’ then."

He had other plans he needed to make at Damancas but they would only happen after being sure the alliance with Damancas had been secured.

He left the kitchen minutes later and served his brother, before leaving the house. Stefan watched him, while wondering why he acted like a mother with everyone.

He noticed the wipers he kept too and really wondered why he treated everyone as his child.

Sorren covered himself with a white robe and left the building. He’d be sure that his brother would stay at home for the next ten minutes before he’d try to find him.

"I don’t even know why he’d try to find me." Sorren touched his sides. "The injury healed already."

Some girls walking into Black Thorns spotted him and waved, he only nodded without looking at their direction but they began squealing and fawning.

Sorren stopped, and looked at them worriedly but it only increased. The worry changed to disgust. Hopefully, when he’d meet his mate, it should be the opposite.

"Ah, Prince Sorren?"

Sorren’s disgusted expression changed to annoyance as he turned to the blond Elder. "I am not looking for you."

The Elder sulked a bit as Sorren walked past, but he followed. "The Alpha had been frequenting this place. Is there any reason? The Warriors said nothing happened—"

"Even I didn’t think I was so important to be visited by my brother." Sorren interjected. "You should ask him."

The Blond elder paused, slightly panicking. "That’s not what I meant at all... I mean, definitely... definitely your brother cares about you and that’s why he visits but..."

"Then why are you still asking?" Sorren snapped his head at him. "Again, I didn’t come to see you. I’d leave to Damancas soon. Polish your leadership skills because I’d leave you in charge, regrettably."

The Prince marched off, and the Elder stood rooted to the ground. A small smirk flashed on his face and he begun chuckling darkly.

Meanwhile, Stefan stood behind the Elder with a tired look. The major reason Sorren had opted to follow him to raid Green Valleys Kingdom even if he hated violence.

This Elder was a classic pest who definitely got a kick from pestering his brother specifically.

Still, Stefan was surprised that Sorren didn’t try to ask about the case of the witch and brushed it off completely.

Didn’t he feel curious or did it bother him that his mother might’ve been buddies with a witch? He didn’t want to affect the image he had of her. Could that be it?
