Chapter 30: 30. Important
Chapter Thirty – Important
The maids’ screams slowly died down. The girls turned to Sorren in horror. And he stared back at them in confusion.
Was it that hard to understand? Or was it hard to kill each other? If they didn’t, he’d have to kill them himself and it was such a hassle. Couldn’t they be helpful?
He added another rule to lessen his work. "Alright then. If you aren’t of any of those ranks I listed, just move behind me. I’d count to twenty. Okay?"
There was a chilling silence.
"Why? Are you shy to kill?" Sorren turned. "Fine. I won’t look then. You better start before I get to twenty... one."
There was a slashing sound. Then a body dropped.
"Two." He smiled. There was no hesitation in that slash.
More screams came to his ears. There were noisy but it was a small price to pay to reduce his work load.
Some legs shuffled towards him, belonging to maids whose rank weren’t omega or hunter. "Three."
"Please, Lia. Lia.... Please...No!" A girl was killed.
Sorren smirked as the killer ran to his side, crying. "Ah, Lia. You killed your own friend?" he asked her.
While he watched through the window earlier, he’d noticed the two girls laughing together. One was Lia.
"Well, if you can do that. You’ll climb to hunter rank quick and maybe even higher if you train. One who wants to get stronger, I’d never stop them. Okay?"
She nodded quickly, sniffing, and wiping her tears.
It was all better now. Sorren turned when no one else came to his side. He stopped counting at twelve.
One-third of the maids had been cleared. Ironically, it were omegas that survived by killing other omega or hunter. No hunter ranked had survived.
It was an imbued code for hunters and warriors not to kill each other or members of their pack. Only the enemy.
All the lower ranked that survived were omegas who had always been the runts of the pack.
It made chills run down Sorren’s spine. "What have I done?" he chuckled, having no regrets. "I have created beautiful monsters."
He pointed at the maids who didn’t get to kill anyone because they were higher ranked. They froze when they were pointed.
"Take those bodies to my quarters. Tell the guard I sent you." he took out a necklace from his neck. "Show them that and they’d let you in. Keep the bodies at my garden."
The maids breathed out in sync. "Yes, sir."
From their carriage, Sorren knew they were warriors who had survived the attack. All of them were.
Male warriors and hunters were put to work immediately but Cade have looked down on the female warriors and hunters and kept them as maids.
The male omegas were all killed but the female were kept as sex toys by the Black Claws warriors.
The ones in the palace were exempted but outside, many female omegas were sexual abused.
Sorren grinned. "That’s why the ones here would hold unto their lives fiercely. Such beautiful resolve."
Someone cleared his throat behind Sorren.
The maids standing, bowed their head respectfully.
"I was planning to come watch what you were doing but I’m glad I took my time." Stefan frowned, seeing the blood and bodies laid on the ground.
"You missed the best part." Sorren held Lia’s shoulders. "This one killed her own friend. Beautiful, isn’t it?"
Stefan had no facial expression. "Is it?"
Lia kept on sobbing, holding her face in her hands.
"I always forget you have poor taste." Sorren shook his head, leaving the maid quarters.
Stefan followed him. Wasn’t this the maid quarters he was suggesting Laurel to go to? With such an atmosphere, it’d be very hostile for her.
Coupled with the fact they were her pack members who disliked her. "Not that I care." Stefan mouthed.
"Is there something you want to talk to me about?" Sorren paused and turned. "I’m on my way to Sigma and I don’t think you should follow me there. He’s still mad at you."
"Stop treating him like a child." was the first thing Stefan said. The boy was sixteen already and Sorren wasn’t his mother to be putting up with all the nonsense.
"I’d stop when you stop lying to yourself." Sorren smirked.
Lying to himself? "About?" Stefan asked.
"You’d know when you’re lying to yourself." Sorren said. "I visit Sigma regularly because he’s important to me. Why don’t you visit the one who’s important to you, regularly?"
Stefan frowned. "You expect me to visit Laurel regularly?"
There was this unreadable expression on Sorren’s face, it bothered Stefan. That was the one his brother wore when he successfully manipulated him into something.
He was at his mercy now.
"I never mentioned Laurel, you know. Isn’t Jade supposed to be the important one that you should visit regularly?" Sorren sighed. "I’d be on my way then."
He watched his younger brother walk off, with slumped shoulders. "I almost hate him." Stefan murmured.
Though Laurel wasn’t important to him. He was sure of it. Only her status, as his mate, kept him on edge due to the strange things he was bound to feel for his mate.
However, equate the mate bond out, and Laurel was just any prisoner, even one that wouldn’t last a week under the torture he’d give her.
"Fine. I’d visit the one important to me." Stefan spun around and headed to Jade’s quarters.
Waiting for his confusion to clear up might not be the answer. Being with the one he should love should automatically teach his heart what to do.
The guards before Jade’s quarters bowed as he walked past them. He opened Jade’s door abruptly.
She hurriedly covered herself with a blanket but let it fall when she saw who it was.
She just came out from the bathroom and was wearing only a bra, with a towel on her waist. "Did you need something? Though, knock next time." She smiled.
"Let’s visit Jappongi, Jade!" Stefan declared.
What? She held her blanket to her chest and stood up. "That’s sudden and Jappongi is far away."
"Yeah, I’m bored and you are bored too. Let’s escape to a place we can make our marriage plans and be back before we need to go to the Lycans Pack Meeting."
Did he just say ’marriage plans’? Jade beamed.
"What do you say tomorrow morning then?" she smirked.
That was sooner than he planned in his head but he went along with it. "Exactly what I thought. I’d tell the rest now."
