Chapter 299: Zoned Out

Chapter Two Hundred-Ninety-Nine – Zoned Out

Laurel shook her head. The King must’ve helped the girl grow rage and hatred for a whole specie. He didn’t plan to go down alone.

The Princess became conscious of the girl when the atmosphere changed. She might get attacked soon.

The girl stood in front of her, panting heavily even if she’d done nothing yet. Laurel couldn’t entertain it and tried leaving, her arm was held back by the girl.

"I’d use your death to avenge my brothers." The girl told her with an icy tone. "I, Samantha, will avenge them!"

Laurel shoved the girl’s hand away from her, her knuckles cracked as she flexed them. "Samantha, huh?"

She’d knock the girl hardly because she didn’t plan to have another threat on her life go scot-free.

The King will have to blame himself for leaving her all alone with a crazy loyalist by his side.

Samantha lunged forward and Laurel took steps back, she swung her leg in a backward motion and brought it forward to Samantha’s face squarely. The girl dodged.

"Knock her out quickly, Laurel." Elma begged. "There’s no need to hurt her if she’s just sad for her brothers’ death."

That reasoning didn’t matter to Laurel since she wasn’t the one who killed her brothers. Or was she? Her eyes went to the palm that had held a beating heart.

Could it be one of those lycans that had attacked with Zeno? But then, they were rogues, weren’t they?

Suddenly, her face gets punched hardly, making her stumble back and slamming on the wardrobe. She felt the salty taste of blood in her mouth.

She raised her head and saw the wild smile Samantha had for sending a hit to her, Laurel calmly left the wardrobe. She wouldn’t avoid anything.

"Laurel—"

"You’ve been acting selfish recently, Elma." She hushed her wolf and her claws slowly left their place. "Like the case of our mate, and now this girl who wants to kill me."

Samantha stood at a stance that could change easily in defense as she noticed Laurel getting serious.

"It’s selfish of you, disregarding my opinion every time. We’re in one body, you know." Laurel’s eyes darkened on Samantha as if she was the one she spoke to. "Our mate, this girl, stop being selfish. I don’t care for either of them."

Samantha saw the Princess’ eyes shift to a lifeless shade and took a step back, changing to attack stance instead.

"You will be responsible for cleaning the blood that’d paint this room." Laurel made it clear so the girl wouldn’t plan to stay on bed long, after this.

Sam found those words insulting and lunged forward in her hotheaded fashion, but her fist was held by Laurel, and the arm twisted wrongly.

Sam mouth opened but no cry of pain left it, it opened in disbelief. The Princess didn’t seem strong when she could hit her and she fell back like that.

Had that been a complete fluke? Now, she wished she had thought more deeply about her decision, she thought this as the pain began clearing her mind.

Holding the girl’s fists with one hand, Laurel used her other hand to smash the girl’s face repeatedly till her knuckles stained with saliva and blood.

She kicked the girl down and the girl stayed down, breathing heavily. She felt fear, and didn’t want to look up at the one dishing that fear to her.

They were people she shouldn’t mess with but she broke that common knowledge of hers because of anger and hatred. Her hair was picked up again.

Laurel felt Elma trying to plead with her to leave the girl alone but their connection got blocked immediately. Her claws dug into the girl’s skin as she made eye contact.

Sam’s blood drained to her legs and her body felt heavy to run, which was the only thing she felt confident she’d succeed in if she tried it now.

"P-Please..." her face was smacked, she swallowed down the blood painfully. Sam felt like she might die now. Her face kept on getting smacked repeatedly.

The wolfess in front of her didn’t look like she stared at a living being, but an animal that tried biting her.

She wondered if that was how death felt like to Amber when he experienced it, she wondered if this was how his killer had looked at him before he died.

Life had never been fair to them then, their comrades were killed and her brothers will be used like pigs. Amber died disgracefully and so will she. Such unfair life.

At that point, the next smack didn’t come. Sam felt her body being dropped on the floor. Blood had covered one part of her swollen eye, but she could still see.

Her sense of smell dulled but she knew no one else came into the room apart from she and the Princess.

Did the Princess take pity on her? She tried to drag herself back to the girl. She feared death but the thought of being looked down on by a werewolf was worse.

But her body couldn’t move, so she laid there, crying.

Meanwhile, Laurel prioritized having a hot bath first and cooling down. She had questions, on why she zoned out like that but her body kept moving.

She had also cut connection with Elma without knowing so it wasn’t Elma making her do all those.

That random lycan girl making her go mad like that felt dangerous and she felt proud of herself from breaking from whatever that had been happening to her.

It actually felt like she looked back at her unconscious memories, without it happening in real time.

After the bath, she took the red robe dress she had taken from the King’s cupboard and covered herself with. The dress looked more feminine than masculine.

Also it didn’t seem very new so it must be a robe dress that he’d worn a lot, so he wouldn’t mind.

Wearing a man’s cloth after sleeping on his bed hadn’t been the plan but seeing herself in such situation, Laurel couldn’t help but wonder what the Moon Goddess wanted from her.
