Chapter 300: Attacked

Chapter Three Hundred – Attacked

Asher tapped his feet repeatedly, cursing all the known people in his life, except his dead mother. His Father wasn’t an exception.

Why did he have to be surrounded by fools?

The servant girls ran past with buckets to refill. They needed to change the mopping water for the seventh time since the cleanup started. The King glared at them.

What exactly did they mean by they entered the storage room and the drugs fell down on sensing them? It didn’t fall before they entered but after they entered?

Did they have the slightest clue how many months it took him to restock storage room seven? His latest drugs were there, but now gone.

He grunted, rubbing his face. This accident was either caused by the stupidity and carelessness of those maids, or it was a setup for him.

Either way, they’d be punished for being so stupid that they had to fall for a setup. It was only recently he accepted Nether’s request to let maids clean the lab.

She had handpicked the dumbest innocent but hardworking ones who wouldn’t realize it was the lab they worked in, or know what kind of experiments.

Asher regretted ever accepting that arrangement.

If this had actually been a set-up then he had to begin thinking of the perpetrators and taking steps that’d prevent another one happening to the other six storage rooms.

Nero watched the King as he glared at the maids walking about. This incident happened by evening, the same evening the Green Valleys’ Princess arrived.

Naturally, Nero didn’t want to suspect her as the visit to High Moon was by the King’s order not her wish but she came in with that Thales, an enemy of the King.

Thales was a Grand Witch that made the emerald break, he was truly formidable and a bad person for the King to have qualms with.

"Your highness, Princess Laurel might be awake by now. We should return or she might escape." Nero said and tried to go to the exit.

"Stay here." Asher ordered. "Make sure the whole storage is cleaned out and if they’re any missing items, tell me."

Nero turned to the polluted room. How’d he find out if they’re any missing items in there? And how would he even know what’s missing?

But he bowed and watched the King leave the place to him. He noticed the servant girls ran slower as the King was gone.

Nero didn’t blame them since it must be tiring being accused of breaking drugs that had nothing to do with them, being forced to clean it up, and by their King.

The door to the lab was slammed close, and it caused a little vibration from where Nero stood. He snapped his head towards the door in shock.

That huge door was move by the King? He must really be in a bad mood if he closed that door.

If he’s in a bad mood and he’s going to see the Princess, will everything be okay? He rushed to the door to warn the King but came face to face with the huge door.

He painfully realized, he couldn’t move that door himself so till the King returned, he’d be trapped in. His sister wasn’t even inside, only servant girls.

Nether sighted the King marching into his chambers, she bit her lower lips, wondering how she’d say it. She glanced at Sam’s unconscious body and stood away from it.

Asher noticed her acting strange and slowed down. "Don’t tell me Laurel actually escaped? How useless are you!"

Nether looked down, frowning a little. Due to the attack at the lab, he’d be in a bad mood but it didn’t mean he should take it on her.

He had told her to prepare a room for Princess Laurel that evening, even if she ended up passing the night in his.

"Princess Laurel didn’t escape, however Sam had a confrontation with her and ended up like... this." She gestured to where Sam laid.

On hearing Sam had a confrontation, a mild flash of panic sparked in Asher’s eyes. Sam was vengeful, the Princess wouldn’t even understand why she got attacked.

But looking at the ’vengeful Sam’, Asher had questions. This was the best she could do in rage? An amused smile came to his lips and he folded his arms. "And Laurel?"

Nether turned to the room, looking at it like a monster lived there. "I think she had a bath afterwards, wore one of your clothes and is fast asleep now. She’s scary."

Asher couldn’t help his laughter. Even Nether thought that Princess was scary? Then she might just be.

He didn’t expect the sleeping part after beating the stars out of a vengeful lycan and the part where she wore his clothes. Didn’t she dislike him so much?

Normally, he’d be thoroughly enraged that a werewolf had an upper hand against a lycan but this felt like a very fair play. In fact, it was impartial to Laurel.

She didn’t know Sam would attack or why she did so there were low chances of her winning or survival.

"Ask the servants to make a good refreshing meal for her." Asher’s mood changed. "With her around, I wouldn’t be bored for the next few days."

Nether nodded with a bow. The King didn’t get angry at her for letting Sam get hurt, neither was he mad at the Princess for hurting Sam?

Nether had assumed Sam was a bit important to the King, and if she should dare, in a romantic way. But if he didn’t even care for her and praised who hurt her...?

The King was a hopeless anti-romantic. Would it be possible for him to have a romantic partner in his life?

She knew it didn’t concern her but soon, the former King would begin pestering her to pester his son to settle down.

Before that, if she could find her own mate or love someone and leave the job, then it’d be best. But she knew she could never be that lucky.

So the only way to go about it was help the King get a romantic partner as soon as possible.

She doubt the former King will ask her to be around the King when he would have his own Luna by his side.

Nether turned to the King’s retreating figure. "If Sam wasn’t his taste, then could this Princess Laurel be?"

Was it okay to pair him with a werewolf that he hated? Or should she just try creating a forbidden romance?
