Chapter 294: Avenge
Chapter Two Hundred-Ninety-Four – Avenge
Laurel shook her head. What kind of special guest would she be? The King probably couldn’t use an official’s seal to invite her because he didn’t have anything political to speak to her on.
She decided to introduce herself. "I’m Princess Laurel of Green Valleys and—"
"Ah! It’s a Princess!" another warrior yelled. "The King has good taste! Finally, he’s being a man!"
That’s when it dawned on Laurel what these warriors had been yapping about. She hid her clenched fists.
"Could you clear my carriage so I’d be on my way!" She raised her voice. Her knight grew pale on hearing her yell at lycan warriors.
The first two warriors bowed immediately. "Yes, Princess." Then they said between themselves. "She might end up being our Luna so let’s be on her good side."
Laurel glared at them with gritted teeth. Did that King really have no female guests that she’d be treated like such a special one?
"Well, who’d like to be in any special relationship with that ball of chaos?" Laurel said out loud and huffed.
Ball of chaos? Zeldris remembered that Bebe had described his cousin, Sorren, like that? Could this King of Lycans be similar to Sorren?
"I know the King is evil but is it in terms that could be explained?" Zeldris asked the Princess.
Laurel looked out the window. The King’s reason for being this way? He had told her about the story.
"Fifteen years ago in war, his mother sacrificed herself for him. She was used by Lunaria for experimentations. That’s why he does the same to werewolves."
Zeldris fell silent. That was why! He looked down and for a moment cursed himself for feeling supportive of the King of Lycans.
Lunaria were the ones who hurt him so he didn’t have to take it out on all the werewolves in the world, but then, capturing a Lunaria citizen was hard work.
If the young King was filled with hatred and revenge, Zeldris didn’t think he was so different from him who hated lycans because they killed his companions.
Still their stark difference would be he wouldn’t readily kill innocent lycans. The King should learn how to channel his aggression.
The carriage stopped in front of the Palace. Laurel stared at it for long, it had undergone minor changes for the new King but she couldn’t place what.
She saw the second carriage stop behind theirs. The young Beta and his maidens got down. Bebe jumped down, holding a big bag.
"Princess!" she hugged Laurel. "That carriage was so suffocating! Ah! I couldn’t even talk!"
Laurel chuckled. She could guess that much.
They climbed the stairs leading to the palace. Thales wasn’t with them so Laurel guessed he still searched for the inn. She didn’t want him to meet the King as a witch.
She sighted Nero outside the door and mind linked Zeldris. "He’s Nero, one of the King’s loyalists. You can do your best to distract—"
Nero was pushed down the stairs they climbed up from, and he had to hold unto the stairs not to fall completely. Laurel stared at him in surprise.
Just then, Bebe ran down to Nero to finish what she started. She stepped on his fingers holding unto the stairs and he yelled, before falling down to the last stair.
He stayed there for a while.
Bebe huffed. "So much for an assassin! You’d see me more, you pervert! Till I leave, you will know no peace!"
Laurel still kept her eyes on him before the Beta came closer to her. "I told Bebe to keep him busy using her womanly charms, but since she lacks that, it seems she’d use force." The Beta explained.
The Princess sighed. "Actually, she has a bone to pick with Nero. He was one of her kidnappers back then."
Zeldris’s fists clenched by his side. "I’d let her avenge herself then. The Nether, I’d handle her."
Laurel had barely any information on that one but she nodded, if Nether was easy to be manipulated by a good looking guy like Zeldris, then that’d help them.
They continued inside the palace, it was quiet and dimly lit. Laurel caught scent of a familiar scent and frowned.
He popped out from a corner. "Werewolf girl?"
Laurel had traumatic flashbacks. "S-Slime..." Why did she have to see him everything she came here? She balled her fists, and pointed it at him. "That’s not my name!"
A pleased smile came to his lips. "Do you want to hit me?"
The Princess slowly put down her fists as she remembered that he liked pain, she glared at Zeldris, another bird of the same feather.
Zeldris was confused, he looked at the Slime. Was he another of the King’s loyalists that they should be careful about? This one seemed strong.
Then Bebe came charging through, running past them and hitting Slime with her head at his stomach. The lycan moved back, holding his stomach.
He frowned at the girl before recognizing her. "Huh? Didn’t the King finish you off? You survived?"
He vividly remember catching this one for the King. She had been the toughest for him to catch ever.
Zeldris quickly understood that the Slime was one of the ones who captured Bebe, he stood by her side. "I’d help you. Let’s finish him now." Bebe nodded.
But their both heads were smack at the middle, they turned to the Princess with teary eyes.
"Is this what we came for?" Laurel glared at them.
Bebe’s shoulders slumped, looking at the door. She could see Nero sluggishly climbing up the stairs. The Princess held her arm and moved towards the King’s study.
"We will have enough time to express our wrath when this plan succeeds." Laurel told her. "Let’s not give them any reason to be wary of us. Please."
They arrived in front of the King’s study and knocked. Someone hummed and Laurel took it as a sign to open the door. "Good day to you, King As—"
The guests froze, staring at their host with wide eyes.
In the King’s study, which looked more like his chambers, a wide triple king sized bed was in the room. On top of the bed was a half asleep shirtless Asher, holding a glass.
It was a sinful sight seeing a beautiful man with no clothes, laid on a bed with reddened cheeks.
"Join me... Laurel." He said lowly.
Laurel took a step back. What the hell was going on with him now? Did they really have a special relationship?
