Chapter 290: The Child Is A Beta
Chapter Two Hundred-Ninety – The Child Is A Beta?
Prince Kiad knew the look of disappointment all too well as his father’s gaze held such emotion most of the time.
But getting the look from a young boy he didn’t know made him more ashamed than angry.
"That’s the weakest Prince I’ve ever seen." One of the Beta’s maiden whispered to him. Her voice was soft but very audibly.
The Prince’s chest constricted and he held it tightly so it wouldn’t squeeze to death. He knew he was weak, but it didn’t have to be rubbed on his face like that!
The other maiden agreed, also speaking audibly. "A weak lead warrior rank. He’s definitely a mama’s boy. Pathetic."
Life drained out of Prince Kiad’s body. Those gorgeous ladies could see through him in one glance? Were they witches? Why didn’t his earring alert him?
Also didn’t they have the slightest respect for him as a Prince? How could it be? Being humiliated by pretty ladies? He wished for death with longing.
A hand patted his shoulders and he looked at the witch who bowed to him. Thales gave him a warm smile.
Prince Kiad could tell it was a comforting smile and he didn’t know if he should feel offended or appreciative.
As he watched the witch climb the stairs, the Prince didn’t have the courage to climb up and stand with those pretty ladies and the young boy.
He noticed someone else inside the carriage, and turned to see a young lady staring at him with literal hearts in her eyes.
Bebe snapped from her daze and bowed while seated in the carriage. "Um... nice to meet you, your highness. You look very beautiful... ah! I said it!" She hid herself in the carriage, while covering her flustered face.
The Prince blinked numerous times, trying to process what was just said. He was beautiful? He held his hair and stared at it and slowly he remembered.
He was beautiful! The son of the King and Queen of Damancas and wanted by all the ladies! With no exceptions, except the ones with horrible tastes!
He snapped his head to the young boy and the two maidens with a scowl on his face. If glares were daggers, they’d be dead. They dared to make him doubt himself.
"Hmm! Indeed I am, good maiden." He strolled proudly to the carriage Bebe was in.
He smirked when he heard her squeal. "Tell me what your beautiful name is? Are you with the Green Valleys’ Princess?"
When he opened the carriage door, Bebe raised her head and closed it back immediately, stunning the Prince. "My Beta said I shouldn’t leave this carriage. Gifts are here."
Her small pleading voice made the Prince smile, this kind of innocent voice were the best in bed. "Beta?"
He remembered the young man that had walked the Princess up the stairs. That had been the Beta? He sighed. "No wonder he walked the Princess."
Bebe didn’t watch to know who did, but her jaw dropped. "That proud boy walked the Princess up the stairs?"
The Prince blinked again. "The Beta is a boy?"
Bebe pointed at the Beta still climbing the high stairs. "Our young Beta. He’s more than a young boy though."
She knew better than to think he was just a young boy, and even felt that if she badmouthed him, he’d feel it and send her those bone chilling glares.
Also it’d be wrong to belittle their Beta in front of an ally.
The Prince stared at nothing, shocked to his bones on that discovery. Bebe tilted her head as she enjoyed the sight before her. Pretty men were indeed a blessing.
Meanwhile the Princess and Zeldris reached the hall, and Laurel could feel the aura of the King and Queen.
What impressed her the most was the Queen being Alpha ranked! She made a deep bow, and so did Zeldris as they chorused. "Hail the King! Hail the Queen—"
There was a loud thud. Laurel didn’t know if she should look up and know what fell, then she heard the shuffling of feet. She saw two golden flat shoes.
"Are you Princess Laurel? Aww!" the Queen ran her hands through her hair and Laurel’s cheeks redden. She kept her head down but nodded.
Her head was slowly raised and her lips parted when she saw the Queen. She was beautiful and Laurel only realized she was staring when the Queen smiled.
"I’m sorry—" before she could take her head down, she was enveloped in a hug. Zeldris took a step back, smiling.
Laurel didn’t know why she was being hugged but she enjoyed every second. A mother’s warmth was something she never experienced so she tried not to crave it.
But now, she felt like a new craving will be born in her.
"Poor child, you had to watch all you love get killed." The Queen rubbed her head. "And you were so alone."
Laurel buried her head deeper into the Queen’s shoulder. She felt her eyes moistening but she resisted the urge to shed any tear. Her hand wrapped around the Queen.
The Beta paused when he reached the hall and saw the two hugging. He walked straight to the King and bowed, along with his two maidens.
"Hail the King. I am Ferdinand, Beta of Green Valleys."
The King dragged his eyes from his wife and the Princess to the small man in front of him, a curious expression was on his face. He left his throne and walked down.
"Raise your heads, please. You are the Beta?" he leaned forward to look at the boy’s face properly.
Ferdinand looked away due to the closeness and managed to nod. "Yes, I am, your highness."
The King leaned back and a guffaw of laughter left him, he clapped his hands. "Indeed, they’re gifted children at Green Valleys! They never cease to surprise me!"
The two maidens smiled when they heard the King but the Beta only looked down, before a small smile appeared on his face.
