Chapter 288: The Plan

Chapter Two Hundred-Eighty-Eight – The Plan

There were two carriages prepared and if not Laurel refused it, the young Beta was ready to arrange a third.

Laurel looked into the carriage to be sure they didn’t bring a lot of ’gifts’ for the King. It was the Beta’s idea to give the King some magic imbued swords, to scare him.

The Princess didn’t know how it’d scare him but after seeing the dead expression on the child’s face, she was certain it might really scare the King.

In one carriage, the Princess, Zeldris and Thales were to stay there. Laurel noted that the carriage was so much bigger than the one she stayed in with Sorren and Stefan.

Probably because Sorren brought that carriage for only himself and really expected them to walk that day.

With the gifts, the other carriage will have Bebe and the Beta, including two maidens that’d serve him. Zeldris had been really displeased by that.

Laurel turned to search for Bebe who left to bring the snacks Jessika made for the trip. She caught sight of her Delta watching the carriages load.

"Hey." She sped in front of him and smiled when there was a flash of panic in his eyes.

Escanor’s shocked expression died down and returned to the sad look. "You still don’t need me yet?"

Laurel opened her mouth to speak, but closed it again. As her Delta, he was left to take care of the pack while she and Ferdinand worked on destroying the drugs.

The truth was, she still had protective instincts around him due to his similarity to Marino so she wanted him to take the easy job.

"I’m trusting my pack with you, Escanor. Of course I need you." She placed a hand on his shoulder and rubbed it slightly.

The Delta gasped and turned to the people before looking back at her. "Really? You entrust the pack... really?"

Laurel couldn’t place why he was excited, but she nodded. "I entrust it all to you. Make sure you all are safe."

"Yes!" Escanor turned around, looking at the people with a new sense of duty. The Princess needed him after all and even entrusted her precious pack to him!

Laurel watched him bounce off in a better mood. She shrugged, as long as he’s happy. Bebe ran past her towards the carriage and she followed her.

She noticed some guards watching her suspiciously so she met their gaze. They snapped their heads away quickly. She eyerolled.

She could tell that Stefan planned something with them. He had easily accepted Thales when he said he was the resident witch of Green Valleys.

Laurel didn’t think he’d care that much but quickly accepting was suspicious too. He likely planned to send warriors after her.

To the Princess’, that meant sending killers her way so she didn’t see it as a gesture of kindness from that Alpha.

She walked up to the warriors. "If you want to wish me a sweet goodbye, you can do so with your mouth and not your eyes." She came in between them.

The warriors looked at each other, wondering what they’d done for the wild Princess to come to them herself.

A finger was pointed at them and Laurel warned. "I’d say this only once, and yes, it’s a threat. Don’t follow me to High Moon Kingdom!"

The warriors looked surprised that she could tell that they were the ones assigned to go. "Do you tell us to disobey our Alpha? He said to—’"

"I’d tell you what will happen to you." Laurel kept her voice low. "With me is a powerful witch who’d be watching my back for kidnapers. If he senses we’re being followed, what do you think he’d do?"

The warriors gulped down nothing, they could vividly imagine the pain they’d die with. "Kill... us?"

"Burn you in armor, and you should know fire produced by magic burns horrendously well." she smirked.

Cold sweat broke out of the warriors’ foreheads. They remembered how the Delta couldn’t move for long and was helpless.

Mere warriors like them will be burned to ashes. They looked down, thinking of their next course of action.

Laurel placed a hand on their shoulders, slamming two out of their dilemma. "You don’t want to disobey your Alpha, so let’s do this."

She crafted a plan that’d work well for them. They could follow her but immediately her carriage go through a different route that they didn’t know, they should return.

Thales had already told them that they’d be stopping at Damancas before continuing to High Moon Kingdom. The warriors wouldn’t be allowed in anyway.

To save them more trouble, they could report back to their Alpha that they lost the carriage. Or better, that it seemed to have been teleported.

The Alpha would believe it since he knew a witch was in the carriage. Laurel saw the agreeable expressions on the warriors’ faces. "I believe I just saved you from death."

The warriors exhaled in relief and they bowed their heads. "Thank you, Princess for your kindness."

Laurel waved in dismissal and cat walked out of their midst. She turned to the direction of the Alpha’s palace and smirked.

"Where you threatening again?" Zeldris stood besides her, looking at the Warriors she finished speaking to.

"No, it was just a warning. Are we ready to go?" she saw him nod and flung her hair to the side. "Then let’s go."

Today would also be an important day for her when she’d be meeting the King and Queen of Damancas.

Zeldris helped her climb the carriage and she sat at a window, inhaling the fresh breeze.

They might get to High Moon Kingdom late at night and that could be dangerous. Night time was when the rogues and assassins roamed.

Still meeting with the King and Queen at Damancas was important so that they could work according to the plan already on motion instead of destroying it.

The two carriages began to leave when all were inside.
