Chapter 283: Old Troublemaker

Chapter Two Hundred-Eighty-Three – Old Troublemaker

Life had grown boring. This was Laurel’s proclamation after the third day had passed with nothing blood pumping happening apart from witches’ visits.

But she had to eat her words due to the letter in her hand.

The King of Lycans had summoned her to his palace in three days without fail as he had a private discussion to speak on with her.

Laurel had never felt so nervous yet excited. This King was really out to undo her yet she felt like it was the answer to most of her problems.

He really liked putting others in difficult situations but Laurel saw the offer as a way to know more about those dangerous drugs he’s making.

So she’d accept it, not that he gave her much choice.

Timely, a maid walked into the hall with report that the Alpha summoned her to his study. Zeldris looked from the maid to the Princess.

He wondered if it had to do with Thales’ sudden visit yesterday. He didn’t know how the Princess would deny that one since she didn’t expect the witch either.

She gestured for him to follow her, and strolled out of the hall while holding the letter. She’d still need the Alpha’s permission to leave and she’d make sure she achieve it.

That drug wouldn’t be used on his kind but on hers so she needed to start taking more dangerous initiatives. If possible, like before, she’d get stronger after that.

They’d definitely be those after her life so she’d have to train with them since it’s easier to train when one’s life was on the line.

She glanced at her knight walking behind her and looking around for danger. She might not get to train if she had to play damsel in distress, but she’d do her best.

As usual, the guards at the Alpha’s study let her pass, Zeldris had begun to wonder what scared them so much that they didn’t do their duty of asking why she came.

Deep down, it humored him.

"The old troublemaker is here again." Laurel said when she caught General Conrad’s scent and then saw him turning around a corner and walking towards her.

The General looked away, before realizing that the ’old troublemaker’ he heard before turning had come from her.

"Princess Laurel." He stopped in front of her then realized that she had stopped already, with folded arms.

He disliked the guts of the girl and he couldn’t help but keep his guard up around her, as she’s the daughter of that monster that made his life miserable.

"General Conrad." Laurel called back. "Do know that as I’m on your line of sight, you are on mine too."

Was that a neatly wrapped threat? The General narrowed his eyes at her. She kept bringing in witches into the pack and she thought he wouldn’t notice?

"You should control the guests you bring into this pack." He said with a commanding tone. "Or tell me first—"

"Which pack?" Laurel raised a brow. "This..." she hesitated when she caught her mate’s scent coming close but she brushed it off.

"This pack belongs to me and you, old man, are only a guest here." She pointed at the General. "If you think this pack is yours, then protect it. But then, you haven’t been."

The General frowned. "What do you mean?"

"I didn’t make a report because I knew you wouldn’t give me their heads!" Laurel pointed outside. "But first, Black Claws warriors let rogues in and they kidnapped Bebe, a member of my pack! That’s what started everything and why I needed a witch to heal her! Now, you speak on watching my guest? You should watch your perverted warriors first!"

Despite not understanding all she said, the General felt stabbed with her words that his warriors were the problem.

They had let rogues in? From her words, it should be they let the rogues in for being female and alluring. Knowing the warriors, General Conrad could see that possibility.

Zeldris held the Princess’ hand that was shaking in anger. She had given the General a piece of her mind so he hoped she ended it at that.

He didn’t also know this part and felt ashamed of the Warriors who Green Valleys were supposed to depend upon since their own Warriors were small in size.

"And I’d add, if any of those warriors take their lecherous ways to any daughter of my pack, I won’t tell you before killing them." Laurel took her hand from Zeldris’s hold.

She pointed them at the General. "So an order from your Princess to you to keep you busy while I travel, make sure you reteach your warriors good values."

General Conrad felt like the ground should swallow him for having this little girl and an enemy’s daughter scold him because of his warriors’ misconduct.

"I’d do what I should do..." he wanted to say more but walked away first, trying to subdue his annoyance.

Laurel turned to him with a proud grin, then looked ahead.

At the corner, she could still catch her mate’s scent, though not close enough for Zeldris or the General to have noticed.

She had realized that she easily noticed him even when far away and the mate bond still remained intact. It made no sense to her since they hated each other.

They should’ve been a crack somewhere.

"Let’s go, Zel." She continued ahead when she noticed his scent had gone. She breathed in and out.

Zeldris noticed this and wrapped his arm around hers, assuming that she felt tensed about the Alpha summoning her about the witch.

Laurel knew Zeldris misunderstood her reaction but a part of her wanted them to remain that way till she reached the Alpha’s study.

A part of her wanted to see his reaction.

There were no guards at the entrance, and Zeldris released himself from the Princess as they entered. He saw Laurel’s displeasure at it and his cheeks burned.

Did she want him to keep holding her? Gladly!

"Alpha, good day. You called—" Laurel paused when Zeldris suddenly intertwined her fingers with his. Didn’t he drop it before?

She’d only like to see Stefan’s reaction as they walked in because now, it’d look like she’s trying to annoy him.

Laurel didn’t know why she should care. She glanced at Stefan, who had a rather blank expression on Zeldris.
