Her Vengeful Lycan Alpha -
Chapter 278: Work For Me
Chapter 278: Work For Me
Chapter Two Hundred-Seventy-Eight – Work for Me.
What was a Grand Witch doing at High Moon Kingdom and serving a lycan like Lady Zara?
Maybe the part about him not hating lycans might be true but Laurel still had many reservations, in fact, it got worst.
She understood how he’d have noticed the charm without seeing it, he was a Grand Witch after all, so what did he go to High Moon Kingdom to do?
As a Grand Witch, he didn’t plan anything dangerous, did he? If so, then he shouldn’t involve her pack. "I was unconscious so I can’t remember but—"
"No, you can remember." a small smile came to Thales’ lips. He peered into the Princess face and noticed the slight unease in her expression.
He felt impressed that she could still keep calm.
Laurel frowned a bit, holding Marino close, not out of fear but annoyance. Could it be this Young Grand Witch knew of her gift of recollecting memories?
"How can you say that?"
"For one, you said I felt familiar." He smirked, finding it funny that she still tried to hide the fact.
Laurel sighed on understanding that she’d laid the trap for herself by asking. "Well, I might have heard your voice while you carried me. I have never seen your face before."
Thales nodded, leaving it at that. He didn’t want the Princess to feel cornered and avoid speaking to him.
But Laurel would’ve preferred if he dug deeper but she let it go too, it seemed whatever her gift was would relate to the descendant issue he spoke of.
"So you asked for an audience with me?" she met his lingering gaze, she couldn’t place why he didn’t take his eyes off her since he came.
The males around her had been doing that recently and she was getting self conscious.
"To be honest," Thales sighed. "it was only to see Green Valleys because I’ve never been here before." He lied. "You seem to be on edge today, so we can talk later."
If she was suspicious of him, she wouldn’t digest anything he’d say and keep throwing questions at him, questions he didn’t have answers for yet.
"Very well. I have things to say to you. Answer yes or no, only." Laurel took the chance, she studied his expression and saw he had no objections.
"Yes." Thales replied as head start.
Laurel smiled. "Well then, I understand that the Grand Witch is your older sister?"
"Yes."
"Do you plan to join her in causing chaos within Green Valleys and the surrounding packs?" Laurel asked.
Thales raised a brow. Sir Darren had told him of the feat his sister did but it didn’t bother him. Despite her calm exterior, his older sister had always been hot headed.
Why did the Princess think he’d be like her only because they’re blood related? They didn’t even spend five years together in their lifetime.
"I don’t plan to... I mean, no." he rephrased. He now understood where the unease the Princess felt came from, so he added. "I have nothing against lycans too."
Laurel understood that part. "What were you doing at High Moon... it’s okay not to answer. It’s not a yes or no question either." She waved her hand. "But if you can.."
Did Lady Zara know he was a witch while letting him work for her? What pact did they have then?
Thales exhaled. "I was bored, no real reason. Also, Lady Zara’s household was fun to be at. Nothing else."
It might not be exactly true but those were the reason he stayed still when he left. He noticed the uncertainty in the Princess’ eyes fade off and he became stunned.
She believed that? Or she didn’t want to dig further?
"Would you mind being the Grand Witch in charge of Green Valleys and perhaps, Black Thorns in the future?"
Thales didn’t understand where that question came from
That’d trap him in the packs, and from what he knew Black Thorns hadn’t gotten an alliance yet.
Did she also expect him to influence that? But then, if he’d be seeing Sorren then he will be asked to influence it.
"It’d be good to see you everyday so why not." He attempted flirting but her face was a straight as ever. He cleared his throat. "I mean yes, if the King lets me."
Laurel nodded, she raised the sleeping Marino to her body and left her seat. "We arranged a meal for you."
She directed him to the dining table. The aroma of the meal already enticed whoever came around it.
"I’d drop the child. Enjoy the meal." She made a small bow and left him when he sat at the dining table.
The Young Grand Witch turned out to be unexpectedly less of a threat than she had thought, and even standing by him didn’t feel terrifying.
Of course, he must’ve hidden such aura to live normally at High Moon Kingdom, and that made him a scary man.
He didn’t also look the part of ’be wary of my magic’ on his physical appearance. One might take him for a warrior or an official, with his carriage.
Ella’s mother didn’t scream ’magic user’ too but Laurel did notice her odd dressing which she couldn’t attribute to anything. Thales had nothing to show he used magic.
She gently tucked Marino in bed with Mira and lit a candle so it wouldn’t feel so dark since she wasn’t with them. She glanced at the door.
What’d she speak about if she returned there? Should she take a little nap while waiting for him to finish eating?
"Asking him his relationship with Sorren might be rude. It shouldn’t be my business." She laid on the bed, keeping her hands under her head.
Should she ask Zeldris to come in since the Young Grand Witch hadn’t been dangerous? She yawned.
"After feeling at edge all through the day, it’s great that everything ended well." Elma said, with a small chuckle.
Laurel agreed, her eyes shifted to Marino when he moved. The little boy must’ve been on edge too. She kept her legs on the bed and wrapped a hand around him.
"If this Young Grand Witch... works... for us, they’d be no need to worry... about other troublesome witches ever again."
Laurel mumbled, as she slowly fell to sleep.
