Chapter 252: The Allure Of The Night

Chapter Two Hundred-Fifty-Two – The Allure Of The Night

Stefan wiped his face, leaving his seat and adjusting his hair. The day finally came to an end so he could end it with an interesting visit.

His eyes went to were his younger laid. He blew the candles off and worked on keeping his table besides Sorren in case he rolled to the ground.

"I’m following you."

Stefan froze, quite startled. He’s still awake? He exhaled, looking at his stomach area. That black patch really didn’t hurt anymore, did it?

"I’d be returning to High Mountains tomorrow." Sorren spoke quietly as it was night, he rose up from the bed.

Stefan felt disappointed but tried not to show it. He didn’t always have the time to visit him so it felt nice having him close. "Since when were you in a hurry to return to work?"

"Since you forced it on me." a small smirk crept to Sorren’s lips. "It’s always fun having to boss people around and see the defeated expression on their faces."

Stefan closed his eyes as he left the table. How did his younger brother get so sadistic? "You said you’d follow me, do you know where I’m going?"

Or did he opt to follow because he wanted to spend more time with him before his return? But Stefan didn’t host those thoughts for long, it’s Sorren after all.

"To thank Sir Darren, isn’t it?" Sorren changed his shirt. "I should thank him personally, and ask how close his connection with witches are."

The last part alerted Stefan. The connection Sir Darren had with witches? The young traveler would surely have a connection with witches as he’s from Damancas.

But certainly, it wouldn’t be enough to pose as a threat. Damancas was a natural threat to lycans because they had lycan hunters and witches.

However, Sir Darren had never been directly involved with those two entities in a way that they could feel bothered. "You’re sure you’re not going to test him?"

His younger brother did that sometimes. Set some difficult questions with only wrong answers and see how the opponent will fare.

Everyone was an opponent to him, with his massive distrust for everything. Sorren yawned, leaving the bed.

"I’m going to thank him and ask him that, nothing else."

The two brothers walked out of the palace in the night, earning stares from the guards.

The cooks that chattered while bringing in pots of water, stopped to ogle at the brothers, casually walking under the moon light and looking like the moon gods.

A cook’s jaw fell, as did the ceramic pot of water in her hands but she didn’t seem to notice as her head followed the brothers till they left the palace.

Then she panicked on seeing the pot.

Sorren exhaled after leaving the palace, and Stefan wondered if he actually got bothered by stares.

He’d been receiving them since young so should be either used to it or highly displeased by then.

"No, no, that’s against the rules."

Stefan stopped walking and turned towards the Lead Warrior’s quarters were Baxter hurried out of, wearing light causal clothes.

He stopped on seeing the Alpha, and that one. He made a bow, then scowled when Sorren looked away from him.

He denied the thought that Sorren under the moonlight was a beautiful sight and continued towards the warrior’s lodge where he had heard a fight broke out.

Stefan glanced at his brother and then at the lead warrior, they might not be friends in the next ten years, and there’s almost nothing he could do.

Except to hope that their mates will bring them together, or children, if their mates were more like them.

"Let’s go, it’s late." Sorren snapped his brother from his thoughts and strolled towards the pack’s exit. He looked around Green Valleys in the night.

Apart from that morning while going to Rolling Stones, he never had to walk though Green Valleys so it had been new to him.

The pack really had a green scenery even if the valleys surrounded it and weren’t in it and such scene at night was an allure, especially with the beloved moon above.

Meeting the trees outside Green Valleys, Sorren stopped in front of them, a fascinated expression on his face.

The surrounding was truly different in the dark, he only cared about the moon at night that he forgot the beauty the Moon created when casting her soft light on Earth.

"Let’s go, it’s late." Stefan repeated his brother’s words and pulled him with him. He could understand his fascination with the trees at night.

It was a feeling he started to enjoy recently, even the wind felt different at night, and masked all dangers.

"Does Sir Darren know we are coming?"

Stefan nodded at his brother’s question. He sent a notice earlier, stating clearly that they’d visit at night.

The pack might not appreciate the presence of a lycan after Slime, but at night lived a certain tranquility. The inhabitants might not mind, or might be asleep by then.

The night guard at the border, a blond man with a scar, with a small dagger on his waist. He nodded as the lycans walked in, even if his thoughts were to drive his son’s dagger into their chest.

Sorren turned to him. "How’s your son doing?"

The night guard paused, surprised at the direct question, he kept his balled fists behind him. "Finn? Good, and he’s asleep..." he stopped himself from asking why he asked.

Sorren accepted the answer and continued behind his brother. Last time, Sir Darren noted that his young guard was attacked and Sorren had seen the boy before.

The boy was a spitting image of the man he just met so he assumed it’d his father, also the man had rage on his face on seeing he and Stefan.

His question might quell the man’s rage as he’d assume he cared. Sorren wouldn’t have asked if he didn’t need to.

A small girl ran back to the house when they came closer. "Darren! Darren! Those guests are here!" she used her elbow to knead Darren’s head.

The pretty maid at the door ushered them in, she bowed as they sat down, looking at Darren asleep on a couch.

The maid chuckled awkwardly. "I’m really sorry but our Young Master had been waiting for you, he really isn’t a night person. Would you like tea?"

Stefan didn’t mind, but Sorren frowned a bit. He turned to the maid. She wasn’t affected by their presence, and she called Darren ’Young Master’ in a familial tone.

Apart from being a traveler, where did Darren come from?
