Chapter 248: Their Pride

Chapter Two Hundred-Forty-Eight – Their Pride.

Bebe’s palms became sweaty as she stood at the border of Rolling Stones’ pack. The presence of the Black Claws Warriors had already alerted the people of the pack.

She could see the women clinging to their pups, while glaring at her. They were skinny and had scanty heads, the pups looked malnourished and weak.

Bebe turned back and saw that the Alpha, Prince Sorren and the warriors were out of sight.

She had pleaded for that, so that the people could listen to her without intense pressure. A stone got thrown at her.

She turned to the young girl.

"What are you doing in the pack, now, Bebe?!"

A sense of relief washed over Bebe. They recognized her so she didn’t need to start with an introduction.

The girl looked her over in irritation and slight jealousy. "You are living well now so returned to rub it on our face!"

Bebe’s green formal clothes heavily contrasted with the tore at the edges dull stained dress she had on her body.

Bebe shook her head frantically. "No! Not at all. You might’ve noticed the warriors coming—"

"Why did you bring them here, Bebe?" some women walked out of a house, clutching some pans.

Bebe took a step back. Was it only the women around? "I didn’t. They came because your Alpha is a witch!"

The women paused, glancing at each other. "Alpha Ella? What nonsense! We haven’t seen her for a while now!"

Bebe’s eyes swept around. Indeed, no presence of that Alpha and her house was under lock and key.

"She is! She attacked the lycan pack close to us and the pack is here to atone by conquering. She abandoned this pack after revealing her true identity."

Bebe saw that the women didn’t look doubtful, that should mean that they noticed it. She continued. "I say we stand down and accept this, without dying or—"

"You don’t want us to fight back!" the girl in front of her frowned. "We should accept lycans conquering us?"

"Do you think you stand a chance?" Bebe stepped close to her. "You’d all die. Acceptance is the easiest way—"

"Nonsense!" a woman threw down her pan. "Have you lost your pride as a werewolf? Bowing and serving lycans! I’d rather die than do that. Who do you think you are!"

The other women chorused in agreement and Bebe felt her palms get itchy. She knew they were right, not fighting back was shameful, but they didn’t know what she knew.

They didn’t have a single chance against this lycans, especially as their opponents are vengeful for the attack of their Delta and Prince. They might leave no survivors.

"Think about your children before thinking about pride!" she pointed at the pups clutching their mothers. "Also, the pack will be under Green Valleys so you don’t serve—"

"Bebe!"

Bebe paused as she saw numerous warriors run into the setting with sharp spears and heavy clubs. They were coming to fight? "There’s no need for this—"

A spear was pointed at her by the Lead Warrior, the other warriors stood by the women, protecting them from the threat they could sense.

"I dare you to tell me to surrender to lycans again!"

Bebe gulped down saliva, rubbing her hand on her dress. "Lead Warrior Sak, it’s best if you don’t lose anyone."

The Lead Warrior frowned deeply, retracting his spear and stamping it on the ground. "The Alpha’s identity is not our problem. She abandoned us, didn’t she?"

"Do you think those lycans care?" Bebe lowered her voice. "All they care about is that she’s the Alpha—"

The Lead Warrior grunted and Bebe froze, looking up to meet his darkened gaze on her. He towered over her easily with his almost seven foot frame.

The biggest wolf in her pack, but he might not be the most agreeable. She looked around for an Elder, even if one.

"We are running out of time—"

A girl, the size of a runt walked out from the people. "It’s selfish to force us to lycans, after running away. You lost your pride and want us to lose ours. Right, Bebe?"

Bebe boiled as she snapped her head to the runt. "Nina, how dare you speak as if you have any pride!"

"Nina and the gang had been the one supplying money to us!" the girl in front of Bebe defended. "She’s better than you who ran away!"

Why did they keep saying she ran away? Bebe cursed internally. Was that what that Alpha said? She ran away... but for her life! She could’ve been killed otherwise.

Did they not know!

"You call a thief and a shameless girl who stole from travelers a proud wolf? I see how tasteless and silly all of you have become?" she glared at the other women.

Why were they like this? Before, her people would value life over anything, even dignity and pride. That’s why they easily became thieves to survive.

So why did surrendering to lycans, under a werewolf pack, sound so much like a sin? It was probably the thoughts that witch put in their heads.

"You all might die if you don’t accept this. They are only being patient and considerate—"

"Those are funny words to use on lycans!" another warrior stepped forward. "Lycans aren’t any of those!"

The warrior was lanky and barely clutched the club in his hands with enough strength to inflict any damage.

"Everyone will die, Lead Warrior Sak!" Bebe ignored the warrior, and turned to the Lead Warrior.

The warrior frowned, coming in front of her. "Then let’s all die, with our pride intact! Rolling Stones’ will never be a pack that surrendered to lycans!"

The rest cheered as he said that. Bebe stared at them in disbelief. "I said you would be under Green Valleys. They can provide for you, in exchange of your armory skills—"

"It sounds like exploitation!" The warrior yelled.

"You are literally suggesting death, you know." Bebe frowned. "The Princess of Green Valleys is not such to—’"

"Huh?" the warrior inclined his ears towards her. "What did you just say? The what of Green Valleys?"

Bebe seemed confused, she repeated. "The Princess of Green Valleys. She isn’t one to exploit us—"

"You mean the puppet of Green Valleys!" the warrior snapped. "She is the bitch who accepted lycans, right?"

Bebe quickly held his collar, trying to control her claws from running out of their place. "How dare you call—"

"What! So you want us to be under that bastard—"

Bebe quickly let go of the warrior back to the ground. There was a scream, from the women. Bebe stepped back, biting her lower lips.

There was an arrow lodged in the warrior’s head. Stefan stepped out from where they stayed. "Time up, Bebe."
